MOVIE >scene198> - A Dorm. A Delinquent. A Girl.

"That's quite a big dosage, and you said she was still upset?"

"Very."

"That's impossible. With that much, she should have been completely numbed out. Anger shouldn't even be within a mile's radius of her. Whatever it was, it was resentment I had never seen anything like before."

Silence. No answer.

"I can tell that there was more taken only about an hour before that as well. Must've had a terrible day. I'm suggesting rehab for her right after she regains her consciousness. To be honest, her blacking out was the best thing that could have happened to her. I'm glad you provoked her enough for her to get her anger out. Otherwise she might have had some kind of heart failure. Or stroke. Her blood pressure was sky-high." Pause. "You seem to know a bit about this yourself..."

Silence. No answer.

The doctor resumed. "I'm suggesting she stops using the medication immediately after she's revived. It would be nearly impossible for her. Not unless..."

"What?"

"Well there's a special room inside a mental hospital nearby. It's made specifically for people like her. No matter what they do they won't be able to hurt themselves in there."

"No. Medication is helping her. It will just have to be supervised."

"Are you her family?"

Pause.

"Yes."

"Then I'll go get something for her to take right now before she wakes up."

MOVIE >scene199> - A Dorm. A Delinquent. A Girl.

When Fayth regained consciousness, she opened her eyes to a large white room. Groggy, she straightened up. Since she was wired up to machines on either side of her, her movement was immediately restricted.

She squinted her eyes at the strong sunlight coming from a large window on the right-side wall of the room, and wished someone could close the blinds.

As if her mind was being read, someone pulled the strings on the blinds and instantly the room became more bearable on her eyes.

"Vincent!" Happiness seized her entirely.

Vincent chuckled and sat on the edge of the bed, then leaning in, he cupped Fayth's face in his hands. His eyes were exhausted. She can see how much she had put him through, and instantly hated herself for being the reason for his constant fatigue. All she ever did was make him look at her like that.

"Do you always have to make your old man terrified? What happened...?"

Lexis, who was sitting in a chair across the room speaking to Vincent right before Fayth had woken up, wondered if he should leave. She hadn't noticed that he was there, and because of her overdosing, she most likely won't remember what had happened between them earlier.

As soon as he stood up to take his leave, Fayth broke out in a sob. He paused mid-step and watched her. In that moment, he wished he had the ability or even the right to comfort her. Instead, Vincent wrapped his arms around Fayth and held her tightly as she resumed crying. Almost immediately Fayth felt safe. Safe enough to cry more. As if the episodes of crying weren't her cuffs of shame anymore, but an act of relief instead.

"When..." Vincent whispered, "When did you stop telling me everything Fayth? I thought you finally saw me as a father to you..."

Fayth hiccuped a sob. "Vincent?"

"Yes my sweetheart?"

"Jessie... The one I loved for so long now... The one I dreamt about and gave you headaches over the phone from talking so much about... He's–"

"I know. I'm so sorry for what happened. I'm sorry it turned out to be like this, but I promise you'll find someone else. Jessie can always be your special friend, no matter who he'll have romantic feelings for."

He had found out... That Jessie's gay? Fayth sobbed harder and pressed her face into Vincent's shoulder.

"That's not it." She cried, trying very hard to get the impossible words out. "Jessie's–Jessie's my brother... Dr. Dormer told me. My dad–He's a cheater! That's why he never loved me. I took him away from Jessie and Jessie's mom!"

Vincent became immobile, frozen, paralyzed, so silent that Fayth's sobbing became instantaneously too loud, even in the large room. He couldn't breathe. He couldn't see anything anymore, and as he looked over at Lexis, who stood there with disbelief breaking down his sullen expression, Vincent barely managed one word out, in search of an answer from him. "What?"

Lexis shook his head, indicating that this was his first time hearing about it too.

Fayth resumed crying, and Vincent held onto her endlessly, until no tears were left in her body.

Until she was as dry as a desolate desert. Until she was as broken as the shatters of a thin mirror. As hurt as a bleeding wound. As breathless as a drowning man. She was no longer Rihanna Gessner. She was the broken and unfortunate Fayth Armstrong again. He saw it before his eyes.

MOVIE >scene200> - A Dorm. A Delinquent. A Girl.

Fayth and Vincent stood in the parking lot of the hospital, where she had met with Lexis for the first time. And right now, Vincent just said something absurd. Unimaginably absurd.

"What do you mean I'm going to go live with him?!" Fayth demanded, pointing at Lexis. "When did he come here anyway?!"

Fayth didn't have the slightest clue how he found her. Let alone that, she was even more angry at the fact that Vincent right now was suggesting that she'd go live with Lexis for winter break. She didn't understand what was going on, but she knew she couldn't let this happen. Not Lexis. Not ever.

"Lexis said that the two of you have discussed this before. He also mentioned that he requested from you to go with him instead of staying at the Academy and you agreed." Vincent said, lying through his teeth.

"What–how–when did you even come here?!" Fayth asked again, this time looking over at Lexis.

"I'm studying medicine. I was leaving the Academy since John demanded that I met with him," that much was true, the rest...not so much. "Then I saw Vincent carrying you. He had found you unconscious. To help a hurt person in need is only second nature to me, so I left with him and kept you alive until you reached the hospital. It was a good excuse for me to get out of the meeting with my father too."

"What? How? What?" His answer only made her more confused. She sensed that he was lying somewhere along the lines. The 'helping a hurt person in need' being a major part of it.

"Because of the promise you made me. You said you'll keep me company this winter instead of staying at the Academy. Oh wait..." he looked at Fayth with sarcastic confusion, "You didn't tell Vincent that the Academy-"

"Oh, right!" Fayth quickly cut him off. "Right, right. Because it turned out my friends were actually going to spend the holidays with their families." Fayth looked at Vincent, suddenly nervous. "Sorry I overreacted Vincent. My mind wasn't working straight after all that happened."

"So... What you're saying is...?" Vincent trailed, wanting to hear it from her.

"Lexis and I, we–yeah, we–well, yeah, you know." She didn't want to say it. It made her sick trying to say the words.

Lexis held back a smile, finding this whole thing a little comedic.

"What?" Vincent pushed, liking the tension she was giving towards Lexis. No one had ever made Fayth act like this, and he liked that she had one person in her life that was more intimidating than her.

"You know–well, yeah. Lexis and I are going to, you know, live together. For winter break." She looked away, annoyed.

"Oh, okay." Vincent said, winking at Lexis. Who also looked away annoyed at that gesture. "Just wanted to make sure you both were on the same page, that's all."

"Yeah, whatever." She breathed, still annoyed.

"And you, Lexis? Is there anything you need from me to help with this vacation?"

"No." He answered, looking over at Fayth, who momentarily looked at him to see his reaction to all of this. He nodded his head once her way. "Just her."
