PART 2 - F.A.I.T.H. : FAYTH
She had run out of the pool area, made her way to her dorm, and changed her clothes. After swallowing four tabs of her candy, she shoved the bottle inside her pocket, and quickly climbed out of the window.
She finally understood Lexis' strategy. It was an enormous pine tree that spread one of its huge branches right to the window. She used it to climb across and down the tree trunk to the grass. Thankfully, there was no one around. As quickly as she could, she ran, stomped against the surrounding wall of the Academy, and jumped, taking ahold of the wall's edge and lifting herself up and over to the other side.
Sometimes, she'd randomly think, the gymnastic classes weren't a waste after all.
Five miles cruising from the school, Fayth asked the driver to stop and she exited out of the taxi, making the rest of the way on foot.
She had no plans of going anywhere specific. She simply enjoyed roaming far away from the prestigious school–away from all the rich and powerful. That world was suffocatingly disturbing and filled with greed.
This was the only way. If bad things happen, Fayth won't be held accountable. She'd be gone already, nowhere to be found. If everything goes well, no one would call Vincent. It was a situation that put her under two choices: run away and act like Dawn Academy never happened, or come back and continue.
A maine coon cat walked over to her out of nowhere, meowing and rubbing its fur against Fayth's leg. After it was done, it began walking down the sidewalk, and Fayth followed it with her hands in her pockets, trotting behind it while it made its way to basically no where in particular.
The screech of tires against the asphalt right next to Fayth had her pause with fright. She glanced back at the black car, wondering who had found her first. Her mind was in a fight or flight stance, waiting to see who she had to deal with.
Its him. For sure its him. He's not going to leave me alone. Not after...
However, instead of Lexis, a little came out of the car. She walked over to the cat and excitedly called out her name. "Lilly!"
Lilly responded by jumping into her owner's lap.
"Where did you go? I told you not to leave anywhere without my permission!"
Lilly meowed.
The little girl stood up, hugging her cat close to her chest into a cuddle. "I can hug you all day."
A sweet smile. What a sweet, sweet smile.
Fayth, surprised, found herself smiling.
In it is all there is and what could be to be a child.
A sad feeling devoured her heart, and Fayth suddenly had this disturbed feeling while wishing she had a little sister like her. However, the moment the thought seeped into her mind, depression downed her mental stamina, and she looked away as her eyes began to sting.
The girl noticed her for the first time and looked up. Their eyes locked. And for a long moment, they both thought about something–the same something. The little girl looked down at the asphalt, her eyebrows furrowed as she tried to remember something, then at once, she looked up.
She gasped in realization and pointed her forefinger at Fayth. "It's you!"
Fayth quickly shook her head. "Nope. Its definitely not me."
The little girl nodded, making the curls in her hair jump up and down. "Nu-uh. It is you."
Fayth held back a smile as she flaunted over her. Were little girls always this cute?
"I have a twin. You might be talking about her."
"Nu-uh!" She said, making her way over to Fayth with a smile on her face. "I would know you anywhere. It's you. It's you. It's you." She put her cat down. It ran to the familiar car and jumped inside its open back door. "What are you doing outside the Academy? You're not supposed to be out of school during instructional times."
Fayth stared at her. How smart is this girl?
"I'm getting out of here." Fayth turned around and began walking away.
"Everyone loves me." The little girl said.
Fayth didn't stop walking, rolling her eyes at the little brat's ego.
"They all love me because I'm rich, because they know my family, but I don't think people I love love me."
Fayth stopped mid-step, her heart dropping.
"I'm in the house all alone all the time. I don't have a brother or a sister. I don't have anyone to play with or any friends. I don't have a mommy. My daddy has to do a lot of things. Grandma and grandpa never really care if I'm there or not."
Fayth turned around and looked at her. Looked at the tears spilling out of the little girl's eyes.
"I pretend like it doesn't hurt. Like I'm not alone."
Fayth took a step closer to her. Something was grasping her heart, making her suffocate for the little broken thing.
"But I hate it. I hate that they're busy all the time."
Another step. Another step closer to the sharp broken edges that made the little thing in front of her.
She looked up at Fayth, who now stood in front of her. "I wish all the money in the world would burn. Money is stupid! I hate it. I hate it!"
Fayth knelt on her knees. The little girl stared at the tears that made their way down Fayth's cheeks. She wasn't sure if she should be confused or frustrated, but for some reason, she liked Fayth. She liked that she didn't flaunt over her like everyone else did. She liked that she wasn't affected by money like ever human out there did.
"Why are you crying?" The little girl asked.
Fayth stared into the little girl's eyes, seeing something beautiful and deep. Something incredibly lifting. Burdens were no longer there. The world wasn't as unfair as she thought it was.
"Because you're crying." Fayth answered. "Why are you crying?"
"Because I'm scared."
Fayth smiled through her tears. "That makes the two of us. How about we go and eat something. Food has a way of making people feel better."
A half an hour later, and after convincing the little girl's body guard that Fayth was anything but a kidnapper, they were sitting in a little diner, waiting for their food to arrive.
"I forgot to ask. What's your name?"
The little girl looked up at Fayth with sudden fear in her eyes.
"Never mind. How about this? We give each other nicknames. Our own special nicknames."
The little girl smiled big. "Yeah! That's a incredible idea!"
She's such an endearing little person. Why would anyone hurt her?
"Alright. What would you like me to call you?"
"Anything I want?" The little girl asked, excited as ever.
Fayth nodded,
"Hmm." She scratched her chin, her eyebrows furrowed as she thought of something witty. When she was done thinking, she looked up at Fayth and nodded once. "Bubbles. I want it to be Bubbles."
"Why Bubbles?" Fayth asked, questioning the random nickname.
"Well," She raised her shoulders and dropped them. "Because they're pretty."
Fayth laughed.
"What's yours?" Bubbles asked, picking a fry and putting it in her mouth.
Fayth looked at the little girl in front of her.
She didn't want to lie.
She didn't want to run.
She wanted to sit here and look at Bubbles and feel. See. Be.
"Fayth. You can call me Fayth."
"Faith?" She giggled. "That's a pretty name too."
When they were done with their meal, Fayth walked Bubbles to the car with her bodyguard.
"You're probably going to say no, but can I ask you for something?" Bubbles asked.
"What is it?"
"Can you over to my house and play?"
Fayth leaned down, held Bubbles shoulders and smiled sweetly. "Why on earth would you think I'd say no?"
"Because you're an adult, and adults are always busy."
Fayth shook her head. "There are two types of adults: heartless ones and ones that have their priorities straight, like family comes first."
She smiled big. "My daddy puts me first!"
"And now I'm going to do that."
Why? Why Fayth? What is it about this girl that's boxing you in? Shackling you into this beautiful heartfelt bond?
Bubbles laughed a high pitched laugh and wrapped her arms around Fayth's neck. "Thanks for letting me meet you!"
Fayth hugged her back and picked her up in her arms. When she turned around, she noticed that the body guard had a smile on his face, happy for the little girl.
Fayth's heart felt light with happiness at the relationship that was forming between her and Bubbles. It was sweet and different–one Fayth never had with anyone else before.
Its different, using a baby voice with someone. It's different, acting childish to meet the standards of a child. Its different, but it was the sum of happiness at the same time.
When they reached Bubbles' house, Fayth was genuinely surprised by its size. It was one that belonged to someone with a huge amount of assets–there was no doubt about it. Fayth can see that by simply the garden part of it.
"Bubbles?"
"Yeah?"
"Are you sure this is your house?"
"I'm sure. I live here when daddy isn't here. When daddy's here, we go to our house on the beach."
"You and your father live in a house on the beach?"
Bubbles nodded big. "Yeah, but only when he's not busy. Hey!" She exclaimed, suddenly having an idea. "Maybe he can be your daddy too!"
This made Fayth uncomfortable, but she giggled to spare the little girl's feelings. "Maybe."
"Do you want me to show you my toys?"
Fayth nodded. "Okay, and you're sure I can come over?"
"Yeah! No one is here." A slight sadness took over her eyes. "No one ever is."
Fayth smiled. "Well then, let's go and trash the house with fun."
After having an amazing, and awkward on Fayth's part, princess tea party, they took off the costume dresses and tiaras and made a hundred cupcakes with all kinds of different toppings. They ate till they were stuffed, then went around the mansion letting the house staff try them.
They all complimented their baking abilities.
Then Fayth took the paint and paint brushes to the tree house that Bubbles constantly talked about. Her father had built it for her before this school year had begun and he still hasn't finished it.
And so Fayth did.
They painted it with bright modern colors, and together, they furnished it with cool colorful, not to mention stolen, furniture from the mansion.
To seal the deal, they put their hand prints on the inside wall of the tree house. With a small brush, Fayth wrote her favorite quote: Alis Grave Nil. Under it, she signed their names: Bubbles and Fayth.
"What does it mean?"
Fayth smiled. "Nothing is heavy to those who have wings."
Bubbles sighed, a smile entrapping her lips, and hugged Fayth's legs. "Is it even possible to make a best friend this fast?"
Fayth laughed.
As they made their way back to the mansion, Fayth noticed a familiar figure make his way up the steps, however, it was getting dark, and she wasn't able to fully see who it was.
"Sir and the lady of the house had come! You need to get washed up before they see you!" One of the caretakers said as soon as they came in through the door, ushering Bubbles to the inside of the house.
"But I want to stay with Faith. Grandma and Grandpa can wait!" Bubbles argued.
Fayth stopped walking, thinking about the person she saw a moment ago.
Where did I see him before...?
