Chapter 42
Tyler shoved a stumbling Evan into the closest open bedroom once they were upstairs. "Get on the bed." He ordered as he locked the door. Tyler looked back at Evan, who had yet to move. "Now."
"Tyler, please don't do this, you don't really want to do this-" Evan is shoved onto the bed, causing him to let out a yelp of surprise. He tries to push him off. "Please, Tyler, I thought you were my friend."
Tyler got onto the bed as well, hovering over Evan much like last time. "I am your friend Evan-"
"No, no you're not." Evan begins to breathe faster, earning a slap from Tyler who hisses at him 'no panic attacks'. Scared, Evan forces himself to stay calm. "You're not my friend." Evan's voice quiets to a whisper.
Tyler laughed at his comment. "Are you kidding me? I am your only friend, Evan. You think that Brock, Brian, David, Craig, all of them, you think they're your friends? They're not. You know Brock? He thinks you're a bad influence, he was ready to drop you like you were nothing."
-------
"You know, Brock, Evan really likes Jonathan, I know he does. I hope breaking him won't break him in the process. That would really suck." Tyler scrolls aimlessly through his phone, holding a casual conversation with his friend, who was chilling at his house for a few hours.
"Wait, what? Tyler, no, that's wrong, you can't do that to Evan, he's your best friend!" Brock was thrown off by what Tyler had said, he had always thought that he was better than that.
"And I want him to see that not everyone gets what they want!" Tyler had shouted out in defense.
--
"What you said in there, about Evan being a bad influence, you said that just because you don't want us to be there when this bet hurts him, huh? You want me to call it off?" Tyler had gotten really close to Brock after the rest of the guys had left.
"Of course I do, you're completely insane! You just told us that Evan has anxiety and he probably wanted that to be between you two, what are you playing at here, Tyler?" Brock got in his face as well, trying to figure out Tyler's motive.
"Nothing, Brock. I'm just doing what I need to do in order to protect my friend."
---------
"-they all are ready to ruin you at a moment's notice Evan, with any amount of ammunition. What about Craig? After you didn't show up to lunch for a few days, who texted you? Exactly, I did."
---------
"I feel really bad about blocking Evan, you think he's okay? I haven't seen him, should I text him?" Craig says, his eyebrows furrowed with worry as he looks at his phone, ready to type.
"I wouldn't if I were you, he told me he got sick and has to miss the next few days, but he'll be fine, don't worry. Just let him rest, don't bother him." Craig nods at Tyler's words, putting away his phone while Tyler quickly texted Evan with a smile.
----------
"Face it, Evan, Craig hates you, he doesn't care about a thing that you do. And Jonathan," Tyler kisses Evan for a few seconds, "you will always be his second choice, isn't that tragic? First, he picked Luke, then, some dude he met at an abandoned theater, he always chose someone over you, Evan, doesn't that hurt?"
----------
"Shit, my phone just died. Jon! Can I use your phone to text my mom real quick? I was about to, but mine died." Tyler called out to Jonathan, pushing his half-charged phone into his pocket. Jonathan nodded.
"Yeah, of course, dude. I'll be over there." Jonathan gestured to a part across the room after handing Tyler his unlocked phone. He walked away.
Tyler opened Evan's contact.
----------------
"But, you see, Evan, you've always been my first choice." He pinned his arms against the bed, kissing him again, this time for longer. "After everyone talked shit about you, I took your side, I fought for you, I have never bad-mouthed you once, Ev. Because I'm your friend. I will always pick you over everyone else, no matter what happens between us Evan, I'll pick you even if you don't pick me." Tyler slips a hand underneath his friend's shirt as he begins to cry.
"It's okay, Evan, you don't have to love me, because I love you." Evan wants to scream, but Tyler puts a hand over his mouth. "Haven't you learned anything from what I've told you, Ev? No one is gonna help you, I'm your only friend, don't make this difficult."
"I don't want this." Evan pushed against his chest, trying to squirm away. He didn't care what Tyler said, he couldn't let the events of that night repeat, he just couldn't. Evan could deal with his friends hating him, just not with what Tyler was about to do, not without a fight. Or, as much of a fight that he could put up with the drugs in his system.
The other boy gripped onto his shoulder tightly, keeping him in place. "Don't worry, I'll be quick." Tyler reassures him as he holds Evan in place.
He shut his eyes as their lips connected once again, trying not to focus on what was going to happen as he felt hands travel down his sides. They rested on the waistband of his jeans, he squirmed once again.
"Stop moving."
There's banging on the door as Tyler begins to unbutton Evan's jeans, he lets out a shaky breath as the boy above him stops. Tyler shouts in a deep voice that it's occupied, but the banging continues. Evan is scared as Tyler gets off him and walks to the door. He quickly buttons up his jeans and sits up, rubbing at his eyes as he tries to get rid of his tears. His body is still shaking.
"I said it's- hey!" Evan feels arms wrap around him and he begins to scream, struggling against them. He doesn't know what's going on but the drugs in his system make everything more scary, a hand goes over his mouth to muffle his screams. "Get your hands off him!" Tyler shouts as Evan opens his eyes and sees Luke holding Tyler back, he's still very scared. "You're scaring him!"
"You already scared him! The fuck did you put in his drink, huh?" Evan hears Luke yell as he is helped off the bed, he stumbles and is confused about what's going, he wants to go home, Tyler is looking at him in a way that terrifies him.
"Hey, it's okay, Ev, did he do anything?" Evan pulls away from the arms as he recognizes the voice. It was Jonathan.
"Fuck you." Is all he says, ignoring the question. Evan still had the annoying incapability of lying to him, even though it should be easy.
"Hey, we just saved you-" Luke begins to say.
"We were having a good, consensual time!" Tyler interrupted Luke, the yelling hurting Evan's head. "All I put in his drink was something to calm him down! Clearly, half a pill isn't working." Bile rises in Evan's throat, the room becomes suffocating.
"H-home." Is all he can say, stumbling and clutching his head. Jonathan darts forward to hold him upright, glancing at Luke, who let go of Tyler to help Jonathan as Evan's world continued to grow fuzzy.
Unknowingly, Tyler slips away from the room.
"Hey, get away from him!" Evan's friends march into the room seconds later, shoving Jonathan and Luke out of the way as Craig grabs Evan, who crashes against him as the drugs take full effect. Craig wraps his arms around him. "You're okay, Ev."
"H-hurts." Evan sees Tyler and fear overtakes him as he realizes that the worst could happen. In his discombobulated state, he begins to speak. "T-Ty-"
"I'm right here, Ev." Tyler takes Evan from Craig, smiling at the boy before he can say anything else. "I'll take him home, guys, you deal with these two." Evan tries to protest, but Tyler is dragging him downstairs before he can get out a word. "Glad you realized I was right, Ev."
Once outside, Tyler pulls out his phone. "Craig has the keys, so I guess we're gonna have to walk. Don't worry, my house isn't too far. And, my parents aren't home this weekend." Dread fills Evan entirely, he shakes his head.
"N-no, Tyler, n-no." He tries to get away from him, but Tyler holds onto his tight. "I said no, Tyler, let go!" He shouts as they walk down the sidewalk. "Please, I'll do anything, just don't do this."
Tyler perked up at that offer. "Anything, you say? Why the sudden change of heart? I thought you hated me?" Evan is still dragged along the sidewalk forcefully, his head spinning and on the verge of throwing it up.
"I do, but I'll do anything to make you stop doing that." Evan barely knows what he's saying, but he doesn't want a repeat of that night. "Please, Tyler, don't do this."
Evan is thrown to the grass next to the sidewalk, Tyler pressing him down with a forceful kiss, connecting their lips yet again that night. Darkness surrounded them, Evan's head swam.
"Tell you what, Evan. I'll let you go home, you just gotta do one thing for me, okay? Can you do that?" He looks into Evan's fearful brown eyes as the drugged boy nods rapidly, whispering 'anything' once again. Tyler kisses him again. "Be my boyfriend."
Evan can only agree.
