FʀÌᴛʜ

I watched as Fleur, my snow white cat jumped around winter's white coat. Two years ago my parents passed away after crossing paths with a critical illness. Ever since then, I have walked around this village without anyone waiting for me at home. Instantly, I was pulled back into reality , upon noticing Fleur jumping over the house's wooden fence and wandering into the Firth Forest. Many elders have spoken of that place being cursed ever since the village was built, but I could not bring myself to just let my Fleur be in such a place.

In a rush, I pulled my bear coat closer to my chest, before chasing after her, by following what faint paw prints she had left in the blanket of snow. The place was darker and colder than I expected with the snow oriented trees blocking any chance of sunlight. All the plants were frosted with not a single sign of a single living creature existing. The snow crunched beneath my leather boots with every step, until I reached a small clearing were the moonlight shone over the white land. An aching feeling shot through my skull, and a moan of pain left my frosted lips .I turned to leave, only to face a tree with it branches swinging over me, before aggressively pushing me back into the snow, and knocking the air out of my shivering lungs.

Instantly, I stood up and looked around in a panic with the moonlight shining over me among the swiftly moving branches. Suddenly, the headache returned ten times stronger and merciless . I fell to my knees and let out an ear shrilling scream as agony dominated my mind and body, tearing me apart from the inside. Looking down at the snow, I could see a bright , crimson liquid dripping all over in a rush. With a heavy breath, I swallowed the rest of my screams and laid there quietly, alone, and cold. Hands shaking, I reached out to touch the top of my head. There were horn-like structures from what I could feel with my hands, and a sticky liquid, which was most likely blood. Were these antlers? What is this?

"Oi, Kai! I found him!" I turned to the source of the voice, only to catch sight of a boy, about my age with his left eye bandaged, yet somehow his right, good, green eye glistened with triumph upon spotting me confusingly staring at him.

How could he be so happy in such a mad place? Another shorter one jumped from behind a frosted bush and shot me a wide, toothy grin. "Wow! So you're the Frith that the forest chose?!" he ran up to me curiously, and studied at my antlers, like they were the greatest things he had ever seen. " Aren't they just so cool, Kei?"

That was when I took notice of the boy's white wings, that seemed to perfectly blend with the season's color. Is this boy an . . . Angel? Am I already dead? "I'm sure your confused," Kei chuckled, touching his bandaged eye subconsciously.

"You see, every hundred years the forest chooses to grant someone a blessing and a curse. I and Kei for example, lived with our abusive father and always dreamed of being free together," Kai explained, while wiping the blood from my head with a handkerchief. " Was there something you wanted that made you end up here?"

" I was just searching for my cat," my voice shook with every word that slipped out of my lips.

"You mean that cat ?" Kei pointed out casually to Fleur, who was purring next to Kai's legs.

"Come on! There has to be something you wanted! Think !" Kai whined, while tugging my hand childishly.

I scratched the nap of my neck nervously , before looking back at Kei, who just cheaply smiled." There is no point of going back to that village," ruffling his messy, blond hair he spoke." Guess your stuck with us, but it's not as bad as you think."

My eyes turned to the blue moon as Kai took my hand, and led me deeper into the forest with Kei and Fleur ahead of us. Just like that ,the hollow void in my heart seemed to fade away.
