40
Life is filled with broken promises and fresh starts. Betrayal is sometimes the end of the shackled emotion called trust. It can be relieving, breaking away the bond of trust and a toxic relationship. Betrayal is something Rosie started to wait for, as trusting someone wasn't easy for her. It was like walking on the edge of the tower waiting for the wind to knock her off from her high land. The process would also knock away her soul, the already damaged part inside her. Rosie was like a freak as she tried to read his ulterior motives. She knew her heart was trusting him, but she couldn't accept the fact that he was igniting the old flame that extinguished her soul in her last life. And that too brighter than Siddharth. She wanted to escape but settled to bundle up the emotions inside her.
But her actions couldn't lie, unlike her lips. Her fingers craved to entangle in those soft mass of curls. And she never curbed the urge to link her fingers through his during the concerts even though it sent an ambiguous message to his fangirls. To stay away from this idol of theirs. He was already taken...

It was Valentine's day, the same day when Siddharth proposed to her. Unlike then she wasn't carrying a rose and her heart was void of any feelings for him. Yes, she could finally let go of the pain he brought her. And embrace herself truthfully, she loved this liberating emotion as she watched her classmates proposing to each other.
"I can't believe college will be over after a month", Shreya said sighing as she gazed at Roy. They weren't exactly a couple, both of them were quite similar. Their emotions were intense and they never held back their feelings. Sometimes it was like a warzone between the two, where Rosie was the shield. And the other times she was the third wheel, rolling eyes at their blatant display of affection. It was cute though, she couldn't deny the fact that the two of them were very much in love.
Shreya was clutching the rose in her hand. A glimmer of hope was shining in her eyes. They exchanged glances as Shreya signalled Rosie to follow her. Rosie stood up and followed her, as they entered the washroom she saw Shreya's smile drooping making her frown.
"Hey... Are you okay?" Rosie asked gently placing her hand on Shreya's in a comforting way.
Shreya sighed and massaged her temple, a sad glint shining in her lovely black eyes increasing Rosie's worry.
"Last night... I and Roy agreed to be you know intimate. Everything was fine but he didn't talk to me after that and fell asleep before I even...", Shreya controlled her emotions and sniffled as a tear escaped from the side. Rosie felt her motherly instincts kicking as she engulfed her in a hug. She knew the phase the two of them were going through. It was the cuddly perfect love where everything was supposed to be replicated like in the movies. In India intimacy was a big thing because most of the desi relatives were usually CBI agents. And virginity was still a big issue in 2015.
"When I woke up... he was gone", Shreya cried in between hiccups and continued. "
Does this mean our relationship is over?"
Rosie gulped and tried to wrap her thoughts up as she comforted Shreya.
"This is normal Shreya. After losing virginity a lot of hormonal changes happen in our body due to which such thoughts are disturbing you. Honestly tell me, Do you love Roy?" I asked gently wiping away the wetness on her cheeks. She tried to maintain a normal face and nodded cutely.
A smile bloomed on my face then I turned her towards the mirror and tied her hair neatly.
"Look how beautiful you are...", She continued as she cleared her face, her bare brown cheeks were glowing in the orange light. Her long lashes smudged up the mascara under her eyes creating a reverse smoky eye look. Rosie laughed and cleared up the make-up with a wet tissue and removed her favourite k beauty lipstick.
"Don't apply any makeup today, except this lipstick", Rosie said as she covered Shreya's puffy eyes with cold water.
" Are you sure about it?" Shreya asked hesitantly.
"It's now or never", Rosie advised in a determined voice. She was aware if Shreya prolonged this matter a little longer her feelings would bloom and in case Roy didn't feel the same, it would shatter her completely.

In maths class, someone threw a chit on her table. She frowned and turned around to face Karthik. He formed a heart sign with his thumb and middle finger making Rosie giggle childishly. And motioned towards the letter.
"This letter is written by your heart?" She mouthed making him nod. Rosie shrugged and opened the chit.
'Meet me outside the class'
Dejavu hit her, this was the exact incident that happened in her last life. He was going to ask her if he should propose to a girl he always admired.
And after the class, the exact thing happened. A smile bloomed on her face as Rosie nodded and encouraged him to propose. She felt a little sadness hit her gut as she imagined him proposing to the girl the same way he did to her a month ago. She knew it was because of her ego, it didn't sit well with her mind that a guy who claimed to be in love with her moved on so fast and fell for another girl in no time.
This was kinda depressing...
"C'mon Rosie make up your mind", She whispered to her stubborn mind as Karthik led her towards a familiar place. It was the back of the garden and as she entered it nostalgia hit her.
The same place where Siddharth proposed to her in their last life.
