"Ronnie you will be the wife", Gautami ordered pointing towards the imaginary kitchen at the side.

"But I am a boy...", Ronnie complained grumpily as he kicked the sandcastle.

"I am taller than you, look", Gautami bent her head down proving indeed her explanation was right. Looking at Ronnie's crestfallen face, Gautami ruffled his sand-filled hair.

"Alright since you are upset about this one I will be a magnanimous husband and help you in cleaning", She offered her eyes shining with excitement when the look on Ronnie's face got slightly better.

"Promise?" He asked innocently.

"Pinky promise!" Gautami exclaimed while linking their pinkies together and bringing them near her heart.

The two smiled and quickly went away to start their household chores. Ronnie cleaned the kitchen area which was just some rocks and placed the old plastic plate on it. Rubbing his hands together he lit the stove.

A hand tapped on his shoulder. With a sweet smile, he turned around and welcomed his husband.

"Ahh you are finally home...", He trailed off, realizing that the person was a stranger. Then his eyes narrowed as he finally realized who the person was.

"Demon", He screamed out, pushing away her hand on his shoulder as if it was burned. And backing away in panic.

The young girl's black hair covered her eyes, but a satisfied smile masked her lower half as she mockingly stepped towards Ronnie.

"So this whiny baby is my replacement", She said turning towards Gautami who looked at the girl with pleading eyes.

"That's not true Sarah...", Sarah cut her off.

"Oh really? Then why are you hanging out with him", She asked while giving Ronnie a disgusted look, which made him break out of his stupor.

"You aren't a demon", Ronnie stated his cheeks turning red in embarrassment.

Gautami and Sarah exchanged looks together burst out laughing.

"Yes look I am a demon, get away from my friend", Sarah said with a creepy smile. Ronnie frowned then shook his head stubbornly.

"Why should I?" He asked matching Sarah's arrogant tone. Her expression and attitude irked Ronnie.

"Because she is mine", Sarah hurled out while pulling Gautami towards her. Gautami who wasn't prepared for this sudden pull almost stumbled towards them.

"Stop it, you are so rude", He said angrily and helped Gautami while massaging her wrist which Sarah pulled.

Sarah's lips trembled as she stared at the ground, then in an annoyed tone bellowed out.

"Will you stop seducing my friend?"

"Me, I am not seducing her?", He said more like asked while turning towards Gautami who shook her head at Sarah.

"You are. Look she isn't even leaving your side these days", Sarah pointed out.

"Maybe because you are boring to play with", Ronnie tried to guess, his words striking Sarah in her heart.

"What? How dare you say that to me?" Sarah said her hands trembled as she tried to stop her aching throat from crying out loud. But at last, couldn't hold it in and fell on her knees crying out

Ronnie exchanged looks with Gautami, his eyes guilty. He never had the intention to make the girl cry. As he knew only bad guys did that.

"I am sorry", Ronnie said lowering his head in guilt as he got down to his knees. The crying girl stopped bawling and stared at Ronnie with a surprised look.

"You aren't bad", She commented while wiping the tears from her eyes. Her expression changed too fast as if the crying a minute ago was just a tantrum.

"En Ronnie is a good boy", Gautami agreed seriously. Ronnie went closer to Sarah and extended his hand.

"Friends?" He asked nervously. Sarah stared at his hand with a shocked expression again while her cheeks turned red.

"Stop seducing me!" She exclaimed in an embarrassed voice, then picked up her skirt and ran away.

Siddharth's P.O.V:

It was raining outside as I snuggled up in my comforter. The night was far too loud filled with constant lightning. Due to which I had to plug in my ears and play songs at the maximum volume to mute out the noisy thunder shrieks. When the playlist hit my favourite song my eyes turned drowsy and I drifted off.

Raindrops clouded the glass as I wiped the saturation away with the wipers. The streetlamps were blinking and the lightning was far too loud. I shivered and wiped away the tear that almost blurred my eyes. It was no use, as the fog was spreading and the darkness was far too wide. My only comfort was the headlight.

My phone vibrated, I sneaked a glance and smiled when I realised it was my wife Pari.

"Hubby when are you reaching home?" She asked her voice bubbling with excitement.

"The weather is too bad...", She cut me off.

"That's why try coming earlier", She said and hung up. I shook my head at her childishness and with a new motivation increased the speed to eighty kilometres per hour.

The lights got dimmer the further I went and suddenly the lightning stroke. There was a loud whoosh sound as if a vehicle was whirling in the air and a sudden force collided with the side of my car. My car accelerated further backwards and collided with a heavy object activating the safety airbags.

My legs felt dead and my eyes started closing on their own. The time started slowing down and then suddenly many voices started echoing out.

"We had to amputate his legs"

Then in a flash, I saw Pari feeding me broccoli soup. My eyes teared up when I saw the cast on my thighs. I stifled the scream that was breaking out of my throat and clutched my heart which ached immensely with hopelessness.

"It's okay Siddharth, I am with you", Pari assured clutching my hands and smiling cheerfully. The tears dropped but a smile formed on my face as I stared at her beautiful face that made my heartbeat with love.

A light flashed and the scene changed. My legs were the same but my clothes and surroundings were different.

"Did she go out with that athlete again?" I found myself asking the servant who nodded with a sigh. The solemn look on my face turned ugly and I wheeled away to my bedroom.

Stopping the wheel near the window I smiled mockingly.

"This is your curse, isn't it?" I asked my eyes turning red as I asked the sky in a serious voice.

"I love you, Sid", Her voice echoed in my ear. I knew it was a part of my loneliness. Her voice constantly mocked me, her crying face flashed in my mind as I looked at the scene outside the window all alone.

"Pari never loved me", I complained to her, my grey hair a proof of my despair as tears dropped slowly covering my face. I imagined her hugging me, comforting me like she always did. My heart craved for her love, her voice but my brain knew she was gone.

I didn't deserve her warmth. I deserved this betrayal.

"I promise to love you in another lifetime"
