Haylee's POV

"Why does everyone think this is easy?

For me to constantly have difficulties to just speak to a light crowd that causes my loud heartbeat that a person from a galaxy a billion miles away can hear?

How do they have such a light mind to do everything so easily while I on the other hand, can't?" I thought as I brushed my hair.

" I mean, dealing with social anxiety surely sucks, but why does it feel so heavy inside of me?"

I placed my comb down as I grabbed my backpack from my bed and headed outside. I opened the front door and took a five minute walk to school. I saw the new school's sign and took a deep breath.

First day of school.

Here we go.

Dylan's POV

"Haha yeah dude, he's so gay." My best friend, Brad, said as I laughed out of breath, until finally, something caught my eye.

A girl I've never seen around before entered the room. I know I don't know anything about her but damn, she's beautiful.

Dylan

Yo, bro..

DYLAN!

I snapped out of my thoughts and turned to my friends who were laughing at me. I frowned.

"Who the hell are you staring at, bruh? That girl over there?" He pointed at her and I turned around to look at her once again. She caught my eye and I smiled. She quickly walked away, and I think she looked frightened.

I sighed.

Why is finding a girl in my life so hard?

Haylee's POV

My heart's pounding.

It's pounding really fast.

Could it be possible that a really hot guy just checked me out? HAHAHA funny.

Or was it actually true?

I kept thinking and thinking, that I completely forgot that my first class starts in 5 minutes and I have no idea where to go. Oh, crap.

I looked around the hallways, there were too many students and doors, I felt like I was about to have another panic attack. I held on to a locker and breathed in, slowly.

okay, I think I'm okay.

But wait, I hear the bell.

Shit, I don't even know where I am. Okay, how do I-

Dylan's POV
I think I was in too much thought until I realised I bumped into someone. Me and this stranger collapsed to the ground and this person's books fell all over the floor.

"I'm so sorry this is all my fa-" I looked up and met this stranger's eyes. In fact, this stranger is actually the girl I was checking out a few minutes ago. By this moment, I was staring at what I think is the most beautiful pair of eyes I have ever seen.

"Um y-yea I'm sorry to b-bother you.." she said as I helped her with her books and gave it to her.

"T-thanks." she stuttered. She seemed odd, like she had this problem or distraction, I don't seem to know it though.

"Are you new here? I've never seen you around before." I asked her while she seemed like having trouble talking to me or making eye contact.

"Y-yea. My name is Haylee Viers. C-can you help me find my class please?" She pleased, it sounded so cute. I chuckled.
"Ya, sure. My name is Dylan by the way. What class do you have now?" I asked her gently.

"I have history." She looked up at me and blushed as she slowly looked away.

"Yea sure, come with me." I lend out a hand and she smiled and took it. So far, so good.

Haylee's POV

I took his hand and he lead me the way towards a few hallways, and finally, we stopped in front of a class with a sign that said "History". I gulped and entered the class while Dylan followed behind me. I felt a couple pair of eyes staring at me. My heart started to beat faster that I hope to God that nobody saw me sweating.

"Well who must this be?" A man, who I assume to be my history teacher, spoke up. He looked upset, and I'm scared he will let out all the anger towards me because I was late. I cleared my throat and slowly said, "Haylee Viers. I'm sorry I'm late, I had some troubles finding this class." I sighed as he said, "Well, I assume Mr. Sprayberry helped you with it?" He glanced at Dylan and looked at me. I nodded.

"Very well then. I'm gonna let you go since you are new. I am Mr. Hooks, and I will be your history teacher for the rest of the year and I hope you will strongly behave in my class, or else I'm gonna have to send you outside. Now please, kindly introduce yourself to the rest of your classmates. As for Mr. Sprayberry, please take a seat." Mr. Hooks now said as I looked at Dylan while he took a seat at the back.

Okay, you've done this a million times, it's not hard.

I took a deep breath.

"Hi, my name is Haylee Viers, I'm 16 years old and I just moved in from North Carolina. I moved because my sister, who I live with, wanted to find a new job here in New York, so I moved in with her while finding education here." I spoke and swallowed my throat slowly.

"Interesting. Why don't you take a free seat quickly?" Mr. Hooks said, impatiently. I quickly nodded and walked my way to a seat right next to Dylan.

After class

The bell rang as I stood up and shoved my books to my bag. I started walking my way outside the door, hoping no one would find me that awkward because I never seemed calm, at all.

And nobody would know how it feels. Just then, I heard footsteps following me from behind.

Dylan's POV

The bell rang. I looked to my right and I saw Haylee already making her way out the door. I don't know why she's in such a hurry. I tried to catch up with her, and so I ran towards her and slowly surprised her.

I kept following her, and after what felt like a minute, she stopped on her tracks and turned around. Having my chances, I yelled at her. "BOO!" I said as I grabbed her by the shoulders. She screamed so loud and unexpectedly that everyone was looking at her. It seemed funny, but she looked so frightened, even thought it's just a joke.

"Haylee, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." I looked at her, she still looked so pale and scared. She turned around, probably hearing other people laughing at her. Then, I saw her as she started to lose her balance and started to lean on the wall, closing her eyes.

"Haylee, are you okay?" I held her shoulders just in case she would fall. She didn't make eye contact with me, she would just close her eyes, flutter them back open, and look around the hallway because they were all laughing at her.

"Hey, it's not funny anymore!" I yelled at everyone until most of them shut their mouths closed.

"Bro, how could we stop laughing? You're girlfriend is such a pussy." A guy named Leo yelled nearby while he continued to laugh.

"She's not my girlfriend, just shut the fuck up!" I yelled as he spoke up again. "Hell no, in fact, you guys don't even look cute together!"

That's it. I've had enough.

I ran towards him by the other side of the lockers and shoved him against it.

"What the fuck is your problem?! I'm just trying to be a normal person, helping others in need, and go on laugh about it, maybe you're just being the pussy, trying to man up in front of me. But guess what? It's not fucking working. So you better go away and stop bothering us or I'm gonna have to punch you against a freaking wall until you have a concussion. Get it?" I lifted him up by choking his neck as Leo nodded, frightened. I lose grip of him as he ran towards the door like a maniac.

I sighed as I turned around, confused.

Haylee left.
