Chapter Six;A Walk Home
Majority of people have left as soon as I make it downstairs. River and Alex are talking with Lindsay and Jessie about sports, Jessie more on her phone then anything. I sit next to River as Alex pulls out his phone as it buzzed. "Ah shit. I gotta go guys. See you later." He stands up, walking into the kitchen then out the front door with his parents. Jessie and Lindsay leave after him, leaving me and River alone in the discomfort of Tyler's wake.
I shift uncomfortably, River standing up and reaching his hand out. "I should take you home." I slowly reach and take his hand, starting the walk to my house, our fingers staying intertwined. The street lamps are on, so it's past my curfew and I'm most definitely going to get my ass handed to me when I get home. I lead the way, River staying by my side as we walk. I don't want to go anywhere alone, or even go home. They'll just be a fight waiting for me.
We get to my front door and I hear yelling on the other side. "John you can't just send her away because her boyfriend is gone!"
"She's lost it! Mae is not my daughter. No one even related to me would act this way if someone had died!"
"She was in love with Tyler! This is how I would act if you died and so you have to respect her grieving process!"
"Mae is not my daughter, Samantha!"
They go quiet. The door slams open and Dad comes tumbling out, a suitcase being thrown to his feet and snatching open at his feet. River moves me to the side, pulling me to his chest as my Dad falls back onto his ass, Mom standing at the door yelling. "Stay out! You're not welcomes back until you've learned how to sympathize!" She goes quiet. "So start filling out the divorcing papers!" She looks at me and River, tucking her hair behind her ear as Dad stands up and grabs the suitcase and closes it. He marches to his car and starts the ignition, driving off down the street to god knows where. I'm guessing the bar.
"Mom..." I can't find words. She just stares at her feet, biting her lip them looking up.
"Why don't you both come inside. I can make some tea or-"
"I-It's late a-and it's a school night. H-He should get home."
"My brother won't mind." River shrugs his shoulders, Mom smiling at him as we both walk inside. We sit in the living room, Mom smiling as she pulls her brown hair into a pony tail with the hair tie on her wrist. She smiles, her blue eyes smiling with her.
"So what do you want? Tea? Water? Hot chocolate? Coffee?" She's the CEO of a diner that's starting to go across the country.
"Coffee, would be great. Thank you Mrs.Davis." She smiles, knowing what I want by just looking at me. She disappears into the kitchen and I look at River as his eyes dart around the room, looking at everything we have. She comes back, handing River a cup of coffee and me a mug of hot chocolate. She sits on the chair across from us, smiling sweetly.
"I'm sorry but I didn't catch your name dear?" River lowers the mug from his lips.
"I'm Jackson River, but everyone calls me River," he chuckles, Mom nodding and took a drink of her coffee.
"H-How was the funeral." I tense. My hands start to shack and hot chocolate spills onto the carpet and coffee table. I set the mug down and hold my hands in my lap. "Oh, Mae I'm so sorry. I didn't mean-"
"I-I-I-Its fine," my voice shakes as I wipe my eyes with my fingertips. "U-Uhm, i-it was fine. People were c-crying and I uhm...I said a few words. P-People cried a-and..." I take a breath. "I-I should really go to bed. I have school in the morning." I stand up from my spot.
"Oh the school called everyone. Schools canceled tomorrow because a snow storm is coming in."
"But it's October," River says, "why would it start snowing before Halloween?"
"I don't know but schools canceled, and it's suppose to be a blizzard so why don't you go and get home now River. Don't want you to get snowed in away from family." She smiles and stands up, River walking with her to the door. I stay by the stairs. She opens the door, snow already in full swing blizzard and starting to pile up on the driveway and car. "How far away do you live?"
"I can walk. Don't worry." River smiles, walking out the front door. "See you later Mae." He smiles and walks down the street and away from the house before Mom could insist otherwise.

I wake up the next morning as the sun rises. I sit up, reaching for my computer at the end of the bed and opening it and going on the school webpage.
ALL SCHOOLS CLOSED
Awesome. I open MyLife, looking at Tyler's page again. More comments about how he was great and pictures people took with him. I keep scrolling, my eyes widening as I read the comment, tears rolling down my cheeks as I sit up and hold my hand to my mouth.
Sachj87; Tyler Brooks is a joke. He's a asshole no one who shouldn't have been born and now that he's dead, no one can do a thing but say sorry about him. There's nothing to be sorry for. He's DEAD. And it couldn't have came sooner or an asshole like him. All he did was cause pain to the people around him so watch out Concerts High School because. Lot more of you are gonna be dropping like flies!
I stare at it. No ones liked it, or reported it. Maybe no ones seen it yet. I did just refresh the page, maybe they just posted it. I go to their account, no location, no name or profile picture. Not even a single post. I pick up my phone, shakily pressing in the three numbers and holding my phone to my ear.
"9-1-1 what is your emergency?" I just breath. Reading it over and over again. "What is your emergency?"
"U-Uhm..." my voice shakes. "I-I need to police over now. S-Someone posted a threatening comment to my high school on Tyler Brooks MyLife page."
"Alright what's your name?"
"Mae Davis."
"What is your address." I just stare at the comment. "Dear?" I tell her my address. "Okay. Police are on their way."

"When did you find the comment?" Officer Rose asks.
"Nine thirty. Around then," I stammer and pace the living room as the officers try to track down a location of where the profile and comment were posted from another laptop connected to mine. "I-I just want to know what kind of sick freak would comment that on his page."
"Most likely the murderer himself."
"Him?" I look at Officer Rose as she types in more codes.
"Well most murderers are male so we are just assuming until further notice." I nod as typing falls over us. Officers come and go, the blizzard not stopping them from coming and going on the road and stopping crime. "Jacob, Singer, McCauley. I got something." The Officers walk over, looking on the screen.
"W-What did you find?"
She ignores me. "The post came from a park three town over and the account was made in Kansas City four months ago, rarely used, and I couldn't find a phone number or computer serial number. Looks like it came from a disposable device."
"Can you track it?" Officer Singer asks.
"No. Looks like it was destroyed after the post was made. Tell Avery to get their local PD to check it out." Officer Jacob takes out his walkie talkie and calls into the station. I bite on my lip as hard as I can.
"What can you say about it to me?" My voice breaks as Officer Rose looks up at me.
"We have no idea who posted this, Mae. I'm sorry but we have no leads on your boyfriends death."
