Chapter Twenty Six

Liz's PoV

I was in the car for hours with Tony. We listened to music silently, occasionally singing along to something we knew the words to.

Finally, it was midnight and Tony was asleep. I pulled into the graveyard I was searching for.

I hopped out of the car and left Tony there.

Tony's PoV

Liz jumped out of the car, thinking I was asleep.

A couple of minutes later, I followed her to two graves that were next to each other.

"Hi mum, dad. I'm here on the day you died again. I'm a bit early though. Technically I'm three minutes early. I didn't bring any flowers because I'm with my friend Tony and he'd think it's weird. I left him in the car. Anyway, what's it like up there? Heaven still treating you well? My life here got better. Much better than a couple of years ago. I found a family again. Andy and ashes are getting married and I'm helping organise the wedding. I'm excited for that. Tony likes Mike and I'm trying to set them up, along with Vic hand Kellin. It keeps my mind off everything..... else. You know what I'm talking about, you're watching me" On the last sentence, she started to choke up and a couple of tears escaped her eyes.

She sat down in the long grass between the graves and looked up at the stars.

"I'm going to sleep here again tonight mum, like I do every year. I'll wake up early though so I can drive off before Tony wakes up. Nobody knows Im here" Liz cried. She curled up in a foetal position on the ground, quietly sobbing into her knees. It hurt to see her so miserable so I went and lay next to her, staring up at the stars. She lay her head into my chest and continued to cry, gut-wrenching sobs wracking her whole body.

I placed my arms over her in an attempt to comfort the crying girl. After a couple of hours of crying, she finally stopped and fell asleep on me, me soon following her.

Liz's PoV

I woke up in a warm pair of arms. I looked up to discover that the warm arms belonged to Tony. We were still asleep between my parents graves.

"Tony, wake up! We need to go before people start getting here"

"Ugh, what time is it?"

"Three thirty. If we set off now, we should be back before anyone notices we went"

"Alright. Let's go" Tony said, standing up.

We walked back to the car in silence and didn't speak for at least half a hour down the road.

"Liz, why didn't you tell me where you were going?" Tony asked awkwardly.

"Because nobody knows that they died today and I'd rather keep that a secret"

"Why keep it a secret?"

"Because, I get really depressed at this time of the year and everyone thinks I'm weak. They already do after the mental break downs I had recently"

"Liz, nobody thinks you're weak. Your parents were killed, you were abused for years, nobody loved you and it's okay to be a bit messed up. You are loved now, by everyone here, especially me. It's okay to break down, it's okay to cry, it's okay to be not okay"

"T-thanks. That means everything to me" I said, trying to choke back a sob.

"You're doing it again, trying not to cry"

"I'll be okay, just give me a minute. Put some music on"

He put on 'missing you' by All Time Low.

"Good choice" I laughed.

We arrived back home at seven thirty and Frank was already up.

"Liz! Where were you? I was worried! So was everyone else! We found a note saying you'd disappeared and we had no idea where you were"

"It's fine, I just went for a drive to clear my head. I didn't want to worry you. Tony was with me"

"Okay. Anyway, coffee?"

"Fuck yes"

Frank made coffee and we all sat and drank it, discussing the set me and Fall Out Boy were playing tonight.

"So, any tours lined up, based on the fact that you have essentially returned from the dead?" I asked curiously.

"Eh, I don't know. I'd have to discuss it with the guys"

"Sounds good! If you're ever passing through LA, I've got a big-ass house and I'd love to have you visit!"

"I don't mean to be rude but are you okay? You seem weirdly peppy this morning"

'Shit, the facade had gone too far and he has noticed. Don't break down. Think of home. Of the harp. Fucking glass harmonica. Calm down' I thought desperately as my heart rate increased and fear flooded my thoughts.

"Oh, it's nothing. I had a couple of coffees on the road and now I'm all hyped up. Do you know if there's a music centre nearby?"

"Yeah, somewhere. Why?"

"I'm looking for an instrument''

I jumped back in my car and used my sat-nav to take me to a music centre.

"Hi, do you have a glass harmonica?" I asked the receptionist.

"Yeah, we do. Why? Can you play?" She replied.

"Yeah, I can. I've got one in America but I need to play one now"

"Okay, follow me"

The receptionist led me to a secluded room, full of obscure instruments.

I sat behind the glass harmonica, my fingers caressing the smooth glass.

I dipped my fingers in some water and I turned the instrument on.

I closed my eyes and rested my fingers on the semi-spheres of cool glass and the noise I was searching for was created.

I played 'evenstar' from The Lord Of The Rings to myself, my fear melting away into nothing.

The song finished and someone coughed, causing me and jump and my eyes to fly open.

Stood in front of a harp was Oliver Sykes.

"Oli, why are you here?"

"You ran off in a flap and I stalked you. You're amazing, you know that?"

"Um, thanks. You can't tell anyone about the fact I play this, it's a secret for my own pleasure"

"Okay, I respect that this is sacred to you. Any other obscure instruments that you can play that I should know about?"

"Harp, flute, djembi and a cello"

"Wow! I'm assuming you don't want anyone to know about those either"

"Please"

"Are you okay? You seem really on edge. Also, don't think I haven't noticed you sneaking up onto the roof at three am every night"

"Not really. Warped is in two weeks and I don't wanna play but I don't know how to tell the guys. Maybe I'll be okay once I've seen it and worked out how many people there will be but I'm really anxious about it" I confessed.

"I'm sure the guys won't mind, they understand how you feel and they will probably have been expecting this"

"Okay. I'm just worried that if I'm not playing, I'll be a burden"

"You could get a photographers pass. I've seen your pictures, they're amazing. Also, didn't you do photography in college?"

"Yeah, I did. You're right, thanks!"

"Hey, it's fine, really. You're acting really weirdly, let me know if you need to talk, I'm here for you"

I nodded and my heart clenched at his kindness.

"Is Hannah here?"

"Yeah, she is. She's at the hotel. Wanna go and see her?"

"Yep!" I said, standing up and walking to my car.

We drove back to the hotel and found Hannah's room.

I knocked on the door cautiously. It was opened by a disheveled-looking Hannah.

"Hi Hannah! How are you?" I asked confidently, the facade going back up.

"Ugh, I'm a hot mess. Hi, Oli"

"Hi. Look, I'm going to go back to the bus, I'll see you later" Oli said, leaving the hallway and driving away.

"Do you want to come in?" Hannah asked me.

"Yes please! So, I heard about the baby. What do you want to do about it?" I asked, going to sit down.

"Well, I don't want to abort it but I don't want to keep it. I like being alone and that can't happen with a kid"

"Well, I'm going to suggest the same thing I said to Juliet. She was in exactly the same position as you. You could have it then give it straight to Oli. I know he wants a kid"

"I can't just waste nine months of my life, just because Oli wants a kid"

"I agree. What else can you do though?"

"I don't know, I'm stuck in an impossible situation"

"Always remember, whatever you choose, I'll support you. You supported me all these years and I'm going to return the favour"

"Thanks, that means a lot. What did Juliet do?"

"She had the kid and gave it to Andy. Do you want to come and meet Xavi? It could help you to make a decision"

"Sure. Let's go"

We went to Andy and Ashley's room and Hannah played with Xavi while I talked to Ashley.

"Look, I need to tell you something. Please don't hate me, I'm really sorry"

"What's up? I won't hate you, honestly" Ashley replied.

"Okay. Well, warped is in two weeks. I just want to say that I really don't feel comfortable performing in front of that many people. Maybe once I get my bearings and get used to it then sure but it's really setting my anxiety off. I mean, what if I mess it up and give you all a bad name at warped? I don't want to be a burden"

"Really? It's no big deal! That's totally fine, I understand. Have you any other plans or are you just going to tag along?"

"Well, Oli suggested that I get a photography permit and do some professional stuff. Also, I was looking into a crew permit, that includes pyro, lights, sound, all that stuff. I could join the crew team and do that"

"Okay, sure! Sounds great! Good to have you aboard" he said as my phone started ringing.

"Lemme get this" I said, running outside and answering the phone.

"Hello? Is that Elizabeth purdy?" Said a woman down the receiver.

"It is, who is calling?"

"I'm Alexandra Moffat. I'm the head of weaponry licences for London. I have received your plea for a license. I'd like to summon you to my office to interview you"

"Okay, when and where?"

She told me the address and told me to get there as soon as I can and to bring a witness who knows me.

I hung up and went back into the hotel room, bubbling with excitement.

"Ashes! That was the head of weapon licenses, she wants us to go to her office"

We set off, running to the car and driving to the woman's office.

We went in, got instructions from the receptionist and found the office we needed to be in.

We walked in aft knocking to see a youngish woman, sitting in a desk chair.

"Um, hi, I'm Liz Purdy, you called me"

"Ah, yes. I'm Alexandra Moffat. Please, take a seat"

Me and Ash sat down on the other side of the desk and the lady straightened her papers.

"So, I understand that you want a weaponry licence. Do you have any former experience with weapons?" Alexandra asked me.

"Yeah, I do. I have trained in archery, knife throwing and sword arts"

"Okay, that's good. Have you been using these in designated areas?"

"Yes. In America, I have a house with a lot of land and I use them there. I got permission from the government. I was going to buy a gun while I was over there but I am legally an English citizen and I wanted to have am international license so I could take it with me when I go abroad. I travel a lot"

"Right. Who are your parents again?"

"Oh, they were Samantha and Adrian Robinson. They were shot and killed in an armed robbery seven years ago"

"Okay. You were adopted by this young man, I presume"

"Yep"

"Why would you want a gun if it killed your parents?"

"Because I want to protect my new family"

"Good answer. Anyway, I have approved your license. Go down to the front desk and the receptionist will give it to you. She will then take you to the basement so you can choose your gun. Thank you for coming all the way out here"

"Thank you so much, honestly. I appreciate your help"

Me and Ash went back downstairs, retrieved my new license and were taken to a secret bunker.

The walls were lined with guns of all sizes and shapes, a few cabinets with bullets and holsters dotted around.

I picked out a small, black handgun and a leather thigh holster, along with a hundred bullets to start off with.

(A/N I'm no gun nerd, piss the fûckity fuck off)

We arrived back at the busses to see someone I didn't think I would be seeing until the end of this tour.
