New Ground

The next day, I was led out to the track. I was filled with apprehension, and I was determined not to train here. However, I was led to the green track inside the dirt oval. Grass grew here, and I knew this must be a turf course. I realized this might be different than the dirt. I started galloping at the command, and when I was urged to go all-out, I powered myself down the stretch as fast as I could. The grass was cushiony, and I wondered if ANY horse had ever broken down on ground like this. I doubted it. My rider tugged on the reins, and I slowed down obediently. Then, we began the journey back to the barns.

"We loved that turf, didn't he?" I heard Hunter ask.
"Yeah. He was flying. I was scared I wasn't gonna be able to stop him," Gary replied. "I think you should try him on turf for a race, especially if you're gonna race him here."
"I think that's a good idea. The only turf race soon is the Man 'o War. Think he'll be good by then? Entries are due tomorrow."
"Yeah, this was one of the fastest workouts on turf I've ever been on a horse for. I can't believe he's never run on turf before!"

And so I would be racing in the Man 'o War against one of the toughest turf fields in the country.

After 2 more workouts and a breeze on the turf, it was the day before the race. It was turf time.

Hey guys, this isn't really major issue, since half the pictures never load anyway, but I am changing the horse that represents Repossess in this story. The old "mascot", if you will, was Black Onyx, but there aren't very many interesting shots of him. Repossess will now be represented by So You Think (on turf) and Revolutionary (on dirt). Repossess is still a black horse. Thanks!
