"The field is making it's way onto the track. In post 1 we have Blank Fire-a son of Pants on Fire-who recently ran 3rd in the Kentucky Derby. In post 2 we have Think About It, who recently won the Peter Pan. In post 3 we have Fine Line, a son of a Breeders' Cup champion and a Whitney winner. In post 4 is Caradhras, the Wood Memorial winner who finished second in the Kentucky Derby. In post 5 is the Derby winner, Repossess! He's looking to catch the second jewel of the Triple Crown. In post 6 is To Win and Repeat, a stablemate and half-brother to Repossess. This horse will be a curveball sent Repossess' way. Post 7 has been scratched. In post 8 is Aur Top Dog, a son of Travers winner Alpha and out of champion My Miss Aurelia. In post 9 is Internat, a son of Barbados, winner of the 2015 Spectacular Bid at Gulfstream. In post 10 is Lord of Kittens, a son of champion turf mare Stephanie's Kitten and 2011 Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom! And Animal Kingdom's rival, Shackleford, is also represented here by Shack Attack in post 11! Shack Attack's dam is Ria Antonia, a Breeders' Cup champion who ran in the 2014 Preakness. And in post 12 is Quality Codes, a son of Honor Code.

As they make their way into the gate, it looks like Caradhras is the favorite, with Repossess second choice and Shadak Attack and Internat also getting a lot of attention! They're in the gate..."

The air was deathly still. Even the partygoers in the infield had gone silent. I clutched my win ticket on Repossess. The clang of the gates could be heard throughout the stands, and then the stands exploded with cheering.}

"...Coming out of the gate it's Caradhras gunning to the lead with To Win and Repeat. Blank Fire is also up there, followed by Shack Attack and Quality Codes. Then it's 2 lengths back to Think About It and Fine Line. Then it's Internat, Aur Top Dog, Lord of Kittens, who probably should be running on the turf, and last is Repossess! Into the first turn, Caradhras is once again taking the early lead, but...hold on a second! Repossess seems to have recovered from his slow break and is going wide around the first turn, as usual, and picking off horses by the bunch. Caradhras is still first, but Blank Fire is right on him. Now Repossess and To Win and Repeat are even, and Fine Line and Think About It are also moving up. Shack Attack is rapidly dropping out of it! Repossess and To Win and Repeat are catching the leaders now, and entering the final turn, it's the brothers neck and neck! Caradhras is fighting Fine Line and Blank Fire, and then it's Think About It. Entering the stretch Repossess is trying to get away, but his stablemate is not letting up! No, siree, To Win and Repeat is no rabbit! They're coming down the stretch and To Win and Repeat are battling! Fine Line and Caradhras are fighting it out 5 lengths back! Then it's 2 back to Think About It and Blank Fire. They're coming to the wire and it is...too close to call! They're going to need a photo finish on this! Caradhras gets a half length over Fine Line, then in 5th it's Think About It by a head over Blank Fire. Then it's 3 back to Quality Codes and Internat, and 2 more back to Lord of Kittens, Shack Attack, and finally Aur Top Dog...oh my lord, another record! Secretariat's seemingly unbeatable record has been broken! The new record is 1:52 and 4/5, barely a record, down a 1/5 from the old record of 1:53!..."

The results came a few minutes later.

"The stewards have analyzed the finish photo and Repossess got half a head over his half brother To Win and Repeat at the finish! What a day for Miss Julie Charlotte, 1-2 in the Preakness! The Triple Crown hope is aliveeee, but man, this is the closest classic race I have ever seen, closer than Easy Goer and Sunday Silence back in 1989!"

After I got the yellow flower blanket, I was led back to the stable. I kept one flower and gave it to Tower when I got back, since he barely got second. I knew he didn't actually care if he won or not. He told me after that he just wanted me to win, and went up with me to keep from having to battle Caradhras. He's a smart one.

A few days later, Tower was shipped down to some place called Monmouth Park. I wasn't lonely long, though, before Miss Charlotte led me up the ramp into a van.

A few hours later, I arrived at Belmont Park; at least that's what my groom whispered to me as he led me into a stall.
