My dad and I went to visit Repossess a lot while he was in the recovery center. My birthday, June 22, came and went, and I was 11. I was anxious to start learning how the sport of horse racing worked, but before I could learn much, the big bomb dropped.

It had taken so much money to heal our two horses, we could no longer afford to keep them. They were sold to a lady named Julie Charlotte, who promised she would take good care of them. She also owned a horse named To Win and Repeat, who had been stabled next to Repossess in the New Bolton Center. She had heard we needed the money, and her trainer, Mr. Graham Motion, liked the horse, so she bought both Repossess and Dragon Sickness. She said she was going to turn Dragon into a lead pony since he could never race but was a gelding.

I was crushed. No more Repossess. My childhood, gone. No more racehorses. That is, until my dad got a job at a farm in Pennsylvania, Northview Stallion Station, home of Smarty Jones, among others. I was thrilled, and begged him to take me to work whenever he could. That summer, I worried at Northview, just doing odd jobs and trying not to trip over the dog, which I did often. I wondered if I would ever see Repossess again, and vowed I would try to see him at the track if I could.

~Repossess~
I learned that Dragon and I had been sold to Tower's owner because John couldn't afford to keep us anymore. I was depressed for a week and refused to leave my stall at Fair Hill. When I finally left it, I realized that training would get my mind off of it. And so I trained with Tower. We still had to take it easy, so it wasn't hard, race-preparation work. When we weren't training, we watched other horses trained, especially the fillies (yes, we do that).

Months passed, and a doctor came to see us. We were cleared to begin regular training again. It was late November now, and there weren't all that many races for 2 year-olds, which both Tower and I were. So we trained at Fair Hill from November to January. And then, the Triple Crown Fever started.
