I was entered in another race. I could tell due to the fact that I wasn't being worked hard.

Dad and I were in Hot Springs, Arkansas, when I found out there was a big race at Oaklawn the next day. So, early the next morning, we drove over to Oaklawn. I picked up a program. Hey, the Arkansas Derby was today. I flipped through to the Arkansas entries. Repossess could have been running in this race, but who knows where he was. I looked through the entries slowly:
1-Itsasmallworld (Itsmyluckyday x Don't Tell Sophia)
2-High Waves (Verrazano x Lady Eli)
3-Far Flung (Fed Biz x Joint Return
4-Dirt Angel (Goldencents x Feathered)
5-Believeinthebull (Oxbow x Believe You Can)
6-Repossess (To Honor and Serve x Untapable)

" It's a good field. A lot of great pedigrees. There are some local horses, too. The one in post 6 has won the other two Kentucky Derby prep races here too," my dad said. I looked at that horse in the entries and froze. It was Repossess. It was the one horse I wished we could own.

When the betting windows opened I told Dad to put $50 on number six in race 4, the Arkansas Derby. His odds were 4-1 at the moment, not good. But I figured they would only get lower, and I was right.

{hours later}

"They're in the gate. Far Flung bobs his head a bit...And they're off! Far Flung is vein gunned to the early lead, he's right up there with Itsasmallworld. Then it's 2 back to Believeinthebull, Dirt Angel, and High Waves, they're 3 across. Repossess is blocked off by this wall. Going into the first turn, Repossess is still blocked off as Far Flung and Itsasmallworld are locked in a speed duel. Repossess has moved a couple paths out on the turn and entering the backstretch, Repossess takes it up a notch and bulls his way through the wall! Down the backstretch they come and Repossess is gaining on the leaders! Entering the far turn, Repossess buts his way between Far Flung and Itsasmallworld! Repossess takes the lead midway on the turn, but its not gonna be an easy trip home! Far Flung comes to him! Itsasmallworld desperately chases them, but they're drawing away. They're into the stretch and Repossess deflects the challenge and repossesses the lead! Repossess drawing away by 3, 4, 5! Far Flung is digging in, but he can't gain ground! Repossess is still opening daylight as Believeinthebull and High Waves come up to Far Flung! Far Flung has 2 challenges to fight off as Repossess comes to the wire 7 lengths in front! What a spectacular performance! Far Flung takes second, and Beliveinthebull sticks his head in front of High Waves for third! Itsasmallworld fifth, and Dirt Angel last. Looks like he couldn't get the lead and backed off."

"YESSSS!!" I yell. Right before the race, a big bet on Dirt Angel tool Re-Po's odds up to 8-1. Like I said, a huge bet. My $50 bet had paid off big, considering a $2 bet on 8-1 odds paid $18. My boy was being walked around before being led into the winner's circle. I rushed down to the railing surrounding the circle, eager to at least get an up-close look.

~Repossess~
As I was led into the circle, I saw a face looking at me. An 11 year old's face. Ryan! I whinnied and trotted over to him, confusing everyone. I licked his face, and a camera flashed. Ryan grinned at me, but my groom tugged my head away before he could pet me. That was the last time I saw Ryan for a long time.
