Deku fell asleep on the way home, having calmed down a bit.

Honestly, I'm not surprised he freaked out over that. His mother's death was hard on him, I of all people should know that. Being adopted into an abusive family only made it worse.

To suddenly find out the abusive mother could possibly be his mom's murderer?

I sighed, glancing at Deku worriedly as he whimpered in his sleep. Parking the car in our driveway, I got out, went over to his side, and gently lifted him out of his seat.

As I carried him to the door, it burst open, and Ketzuka appeared, looking like she was about to shout. I quickly made a shushing motion, so she didn't wake up Izuku.

"D-! Oh..." her voice fell into a whisper as I followed her inside. I carried Deku upstairs to our room, and tucked him into our bed, leaving a soft peck on his forehead. I went back down, and saw Ketzuka pacing nervously in the living room.

"What's wrong Kiddo?" I asked, glancing down at her from the bottom of the stairs.

"Um, well..." she took a deep breath, and then spoke quickly, "thepoliceshowedupearlierandscaredItukoandwentdownstairstoquestionTanyaandhaventcomebackup!"

All I understood was Ituko and Tanya.

"Whoa, calm down Ketzuka," I blinked at her fast speech and panicked actions, "Okay, say that again, but slower."

She took a deep breath, "The police showed up earlier and scared Ituko. They went downstairs to talk to Tanya, and haven't come back up. Dad, there are fucking policemen in our basement!"

I scowled, "I wasn't told about this. Do they have a warrant?"

"I-I don't know! I was too startled to ask, but they are still in the basement if you-"

Ketzuka was cut off by yelling.

"THIS CONVERSATION IS OVER! WARRANT OR NOT, YOU ARE NOT GOING THROUGH MY STUFF!"

I sighed in irritation.

"I swear to fucking god, if they wake up Izuku..." I grumbled as I followed the yelling down to the basement.

Two policemen were there, one of the holding a paper, the other with a tazer out.

"Ma'am, we have the right to disable should you refuse. Now-"

"FUCK OFF!" Tanya shouted at them. I sighed. Cop 2 raises his tazer.

"Hold it," I ordered, making a mini explosion in my hands to get their attention, "What the fuck is going on?"

"Ah! Mr. Bakugo, sir!" Both of them quickly stiffened at me. I crossed my arms.

"First of all," I glared at Tanya, "don't fucking yell. Izuku is sleeping. Second," I glared at the two policemen, "why wasn't I told about this search? Do you even have a warrent?"

"We have a search warrant Sir," Cop 1 raised his paper, adjusting his hat, "This was a recent emergency decision. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this is of the utmost importance."

I scowled, snatching the paper. It was a real search warrant.

"What are you looking for?" I asked, sighing.

"Our orders are to search Miss Vettel's room for anything suspicious," Cop 2 replied, "however, Miss Vettel is being... uncooperative."

Tanya flipped him off in response. I pinched the bridge of my nose, sighing in agitation.

"Tanya, if they have a search warrant," I stated, "they are legally allowed to search anywhere in the house, including the basement, and your section of it."

"I don't fucking care, this is my private space! Now get lost!" She snapped back. Cop 2 raised his tazer.

I stepped in front of the two cops, putting my hand infront of Cop 2 so he lowered his tazer. I got right up in her face, and growled quietly.

"You can fucking listen, or I can let them electrocute you. I can't legally stop them from using force, if that's what you're hoping for."

She faltered, and I backed up.

"Fine..." she grumbled, snatching up her phone and walking to the stairs. She turned, and glared at the cops.

"If I come back, and anything is broken, I'm sueing you."

She seemed quite proud of her threat as she went up the stairs.

"Uh... she does know that she can't do that right?" Cop 1 asked, scratching his head. I gave him back the paper, and sighed.

"Probably not. She's probably hoping you do break something just so she can try," I sighed, walking to the stairs, "I'll be all the way upstairs if you need me."

"Thank you sir!" They exclaimed, as I went up.

Ketzuka was playing a game with Ituko on the TV. I quickly exclaimed that everything was fine, and if they needed me, I would be upstairs.

So, I went up the stairs, and back into my room.

Deku was awake, staring with a tear stained face at his hands and shaking. He didn't seem to notice me entering.

Without a word, I climbed onto the bed and sat myself behind him, successfully pulling my green haired husband into my lap. He flinched, but slowly relaxed as I linked my arms around him, and rest my head on his shoulder. I quietly mumbled sweet nothing's into his ear, as he calmed down.

"I'm sorry," he mumbled softly, leaning against me.

"For what?" I asked, "You didn't do shit to apologize for."

"For crying again," he responded, "and freaking out."

I snorted, "Really? You're sorry for freaking out over something you have every right to freak out over? You don't have shit to be sorry about Deku, got it?"

He nodded, pushing himself closer against me. I tightened my grip around him.

He fell asleep eventually, and I let go of him, tucking him back into our bed before going downstairs. I had found a mini camera I could put in Tanya's room to keep an eye on her.

I sat down silently, deep in thought. I was having second thoughts about keeping this whole thing a secret from the kids. It was getting harder and harder to hide, and Ketzuka at least, seemed to be figuring it out on her own.

"DAD!"

I jolted back to reality, and looked up.

"Huh?" I blinked.

"Geez, that's the 5th time I've called you," Ketzuka crossed her arms, "Is everything okay? You've been staring at the floor for the past 15 minutes."

"Ah, oops..." I muttered, "Just got lost in my thoughts I guess."

"Right..." she went back to her game. I guessed Ituko was in his room.

Ketzuka spoke suddenly, and her question caught me off guard.

"So, how exactly do you and Papa know Miss Vettel?"

...and the investigation of Midoriya's murder is still ongoing. Current suspects are Vettel Tanya, and Air Hato. The cause of death is a snapped neck. The body w...

"Found anything?"

I jumped at Tara's voice, before sighing in relief. It was just her.

"Oh, did I startle you? Sorry!" Tara laughed apologetically, and put a Tim Hortans coffee down on my desk, "I went to go get coffee with Ellie, and got you one."

I smiled at her, "Thanks, I appreciate it..." I yawned. She frowned suspiciously.

Today was the day after Izuku's mini panic attack. Both him and Katsuki had taken the day off.

"Kara, when did you get up?" Tara asked, narrowing her eyes. I blinked quickly, and scrambled to find an excuse.

"7am," I said quickly, and she snorted.

"Right, so you pulled another all nighter. I thought I told you to stop doing that," she plopped down into he chair at the computer next to me, and I sighed.

"Okay, yes I've been up all night..." I sighed, "I can't help it, I'm worried about this case..."

"Mrs. Midoriya's murder?" She clarified. I nodded, taking a sip of the coffee she had gotten me, glancing up and down at the file I was reading.

"There's something about it that bothers me. There's only 2 suspects, Miss Vettel, and somebody named Hato Air. Vettel is on a ton of other suspect lists though, simply because she seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but Air has never been on any other suspect lists before," I sighed, "Sorry, I know I'm probably just being superstitious, but it's seriously bugging me for some reason."

"If it helps to know," Denki commented walking by, "Air recently left on vacation. He's not in Japan right now, won't be for a few weeks."

"You let a murder suspect leave the country?" Tara asked, looking up at him with a confused frown.

"Shoto made it very clear that if he isn't back by the end of the month we would be sending people to get him," he responded, "Plus, we have all his contact information. We can contact him if needed."

Tara shrugged, and logged onto her computer.

"Hey Kara," Pearl peeked over the wall next to me, "Are you having any luck with the file?"

"Not yet," I replied to her, "what about you?"

"Well... I'm not sure, there's something weird going on..." she frowned.

"I swear to god, this is bullshit!" Ellie exclaimed suddenly from behind her sister, "This doesn't make any sense!"

"Ellie! Don't hit the computer, you'll break it!" Pearl exclaimed, ducking down. I stood up, and Tara followed me into their box.

"What's going on?" I asked, leaning over Ellie to look at her computer screen.

"Look at this," she said, scrolling through the list of murders Tanya was suspected for.

"What about it?" I asked, frowning.

"There's a pattern," Pearl explained, going, "Each person on the list was killed on a certain day of a certain month. Like this," she pointed to the name Jenkins, "Jenkins' birthday was April 10th. She was killed on April 4th. Quaren was killed on October 10th, her birthday was October 6th."

"April is the 4th month, October is the 10th. Do you see where we're going with this?" Ellie asked.

"So the murderer has a month fetish," Tara deadpanned, "What about it?"

Ellie snickered at the joke, then sighed, "It doesn't make sense to me. Midoriya was killed on July 5th, her birthday was July 4th. It's a murder chain."

"So what's confusing?" I asked.

"The motive mostly, but also how the murderer got away with it." Pearl said, "All the victims died by a neck snap, but that's it. There's absolutely no evidence as to who it was. No fingerprints, bloody footprint or handprint markings, and believe me a lot of these murders were bloody."

"Hell, Kaze was found dead in a goddamn sandpit. How the hell do you not leave footprints in a sandpit?" Ellie scowled.

"Lots of footprints?" I suggested.

"The sandpit was clean Tara. There were no footprints, period." Ellie retorted. I frowned.

"How many murders are there?" I asked.

"Only 12 in this chain, but there's been a few more recent murders that follow the same pattern," Pearl replied, "It worries me..."

"Let's look at both of them, and compare it," Tara suggested. We all nodded, and Pearl pulled up the recent murders on her computer.

"Hey," I glanced up, and saw Ochaco, "Uh, this is a weird question, but do any of you know what Miss Vettel's quirk is? There isn't one listed on her file..."

We all glanced at each other.

"I thought it was making people unaware if anything suspicious around them," Ellie said.

"No, so think that was her husband's quirk," Pearl responsed. She frowned apologetically at Ochaco, "I'm sorry, I don't know."

"I thought she was quirkless?" Tara asked.

"I think you should ask Izuku about that honestly," I said, "he's the most likely to know."

"Alright..." She frowned, "Thanks anyway." She disappeared back down into her box.

"We should do some more digging into this," Ellie said.

"I think Creati is the hero in charge of the case," I said, "I'll talk to her, and see if we can help."

"Alright," Ellie agreed, "For now, I'll keep digging here."

"We'll keep going over Midoriya's case files," Tara said.

"I'll investigate Vettel's file," Pearl said, sitting down again. Tara went back to her computer. I went onto my computer, and went to message Creati.
