ALTHEA MAYWEATHER was stood in complete and total shock. It was like her body had shut off all outside stimuli in an effort to try and understand what had just transpired before. One moment, she was practicing her powers. The next, she and her sister were arguing. Althea got angry and shoved her back. And then?
Her sister, Lola, was gone.
"L-lola?" Althea called out, her voice shaking as she did so. She tried to steady it, but it was no use. Her sister was gone. Althea began to breathe heavy before her vision grew blurry, the tears flooding her vision.
She began to sob heavily, the emotions hitting her like a ton of bricks. Her ability—the power manipulate time to some maximum—had caused her twin to disappear. If Althea had to guess, she'd say her twin was somewhere in time with no way of return.
Althea felt her knees buckle as she hit the floor, her nails digging into the wood beneath her. She wasn't good with staying calm. Her sister wasn't great, either, but she was better than Althea.
When their mother returned home, Althea was sat on the couch in the common room where Lola had previously been. The book Lola had been reading was clutches tightly to Althea's chest as she stared up into space.
Her mother set the groceries down in the kitchen, before returning to Althea. "Thea, dear? What's wrong?" she asked, eyebrows furrowing in concern as she knelt down in front of her daughter.
"She's gone," Althea uttered, her eyes red and puffy from crying. Her mother looked taken back for a moment, as if she was confused. "Lola. She's gone."
Her mother chuckled, perceiving this as some sort of joke. "Gone? Gone where?"
Althea couldn't help it as she felt her eyes well up again and her bottom lip tremble. "She's gone. It was an accident," she cried out. "I didn't mean to! I got upset and I pushed her! And she vanished! I didn't mean to, Mom!" The young girl lurched forward, sobbing into her mother's shoulder as her mother tried to process this new information.
Gingerly, she embraced her daughter and consoled her as best as she could. However, the reality hit her as it did Althea. Soon, both mother and daughter were sobbing into each other's arms as they mourned the loss of their beloved Lola Mayweather.
