When Red Meets Blue
Red acai berries—drip-drip off my tongue:
seeing you—roses grew; fire filled my lungs.
Blue-iced oceans, still, is my heart as I sight
you, with eyes so hyped, powered by—ew—love songs.
Red like a wildfire sun,
yet too timid to shine like one.
Blue, like cold breath withdrawn,
is my mind, as he comes.
“You know, stars are always brighter when you gaze at them.”
he tried to find her eyes.
“Too bad I’m a blue star, shivering in the sky.
I never shine bright.”
“Well, you’re the brightest in this room, and,
if you let me, I can chase away your gloom.”
She eyed Mr. Knight, for a very long while,
"well, then, soldier boy, I'd like to see you try."
Blue becomes my fiery soul,
soft like sheets—fresh from the dryer.
Red becomes my icy heart
melting under his fire.
Purple is when blue meets red;
two hearts intertwined.
