Fade for You

You left;

you left my life

and suddenly I remember

who you are:

you are the woman of my dreams—

since the age of nine:

I'd say your name;

you'd take my hand,

and together we'd walk

from here to entrancing lands.

You left;

you left my life

and suddenly I remember

the first time I saw you:

I was in a valley feeling low;

you were on a mountain top—

far above my view,

but when a smile sparked the sky

I knew that it was you:

the sun I want to wake up for;

the moon I want to dream with;

the star I want to fade for...

I knew all this since the first time I saw you.

You left;

you left my life

and suddenly I remember

why I fell for you in the first place:

You were life—

the sun shined through your cheeks.

Stronger than an avalanche

yet so far from your peak.

You stood for truth—and nothing more,

so I practiced truth

 and hoped that you'd stand next to me.

And you did,

for the longest time,

stand by my side—

smiling!

up at me...

but,

the sun isn't meant to warm just one,

and that

I couldn't see.

So I looked away

and hoped you'd stay,

like the tickle of summer's breeze.
