A Beautiful Day

Why can't every day be like today?
: sunshine like a summer smile,
winds whisper warmth like Canary Isle;
birds sing and splash in shallow pools,
while kids play about—eyes bigger than jewels.

Why can't every day be like today?
: beavers bathe in fresh-water streams,
baby birds backstroke while mama bird dreams;
grass as soft as long, wavy hair,
flowers float freely and dance in the air.

Why can't every day be like today?
: reeds stand tall like cotton-candy spears,
leaves flop around like elephant ears;
dandelion wishes paint the blue sky
—up past the clouds stretched out like goodbyes.

Why can't every day be like today?
: your hair twirls like the dress you now wear,
dimples deeper than—oh! nothing compares...
your hand slips in mine, squeezes it tight,
and in this small moment...everything's right.

Why can't every day be like today?
