Worthy
Peter was definitely not pleased. Even after having been Spider-man for years, having told Tony and the rest about it, even after defeating Venom, they still wouldn't let him come to the next mission.
"Cheer up, kid, I'm sure you'll get to come next time," Natasha tried cheering him up, patting him on his back in a friendly gesture.
"I wanna come this time," Peter complained, resting his face in his hands.
"Nat? Are you ready? Oh, hey Pete," Mr Stark said as he entered the kitchen where Peter was moping.
"We're heading out, you're ready, right?" he asked Natasha while pushing his sunglasses up.
"I'm not the one who takes forever to style their hair," she replied dryly, sending Peter a quick smirk as she followed Tony. Peter got an idea.
"Wait wait wait! What if I can prove I'm worthy to go?" Peter quickly said as he shot up from his seat.
"We're kind of on a timetable here, Peter," Bruce mentioned.
"This'll just take a sec," Peter promised, looking at Mjølner at it lied on the coffee table.
"Kid, don't embarrass yourself," Tony advised with a sigh.
"Peter, we've been over this. You'll get to go on the next mission," Natasha added tiredly.
"Just let me try this!" Peter complained as he stepped onto the coffee table and pulled his sleeves up, taking a deep breath before taking a stern grip around the handle. He took another deep breath, gathered all his strength in his upper body and pulled.
Hardly.
As it turns out, however, Mjølner is not heavy. Especially not for Spider-man. It weighs about the same as a regular hammer, so if you're worthy, you'll have no trouble lifting it.
And that's the story of how Peter managed to knock himself out by attempting to lift Thor's hammer, succeeding, and then hitting himself in the head with it.
"I'm not sure whether I should be impressed or disappointed," Tony commented as they all looked at the kid on the floor.
"After living with you all this time I've realised you can be both at once," Natasha replied as she easily lifted Peter up and placed him on the couch.
"We have to get going, Nat," Clint mentioned.
"Go ahead, I'll be right there," she promised, putting a blanket over Peter as the living room emptied.
"You were always worthy, Pete," she mumbled to him; "Your new adoptive dads are just overprotective."
