Jarvis Junior pt 4
This one is dedicated to DaKoolestPanda for having been such an engaged reader - I loved reading through your comments, panda! Indeed you are cool!
Programming Jax had been a great deal of fun, even if it hadn't all been so.
Learning about ai, meeting Tony Stark and hanging with him had been great, even if he hadn't been much around the last week or so.
The part that'd been... less enjoyable, had been when Peter had told Ned, who'd proceeded to blurt it out in front of Flash, who'd taken this as an excellent chance to get some bullying in about Peter 'lying'.
As if that hadn't been enough, a journalist had approached him to hear about his 'improper relationship' with a certain billionaire.
Peter had gotten mad - Mr Stark would never do such a thing - but he feared it wasn't the end of it.
"Okay, Jarvis, I'm heading down to the school. If Mr Stark asks then please tell him I'll bring his stuff back once I'm done at school, I just didn't know how to move Jax back on my laptop," Peter explained as he put the keyboard in his bag, too; "it's been a pleasure to meet you, Jarvis."
"I'm sure I would have enjoyed it immensely if I could, Mr Parker. I will inform Mr Stark of your whereabouts," Jarvis replied.
"Also... tell Mr Stark thank you. I've probably seen him for the last time," Peter spoke.
"Mr Stark?" Jarvis asked.
"What's up, Jarvis?" Tony asked distractedly.
"Young Mr Parker has asked me to inform you that he has momentarily borrowed his work computer since he was not sure how to move Jax onto his own. He will bring it back as soon as he's done with his presentation," Jarvis told.
"That's today?" Tony asked, putting his iPad aside.
"Yes, sir."
"Oh... I guess I get my lab back, then," he muttered, making his way down the floors to find the empty lab.
The space that'd been cleared for Peter was cleared once again, and Tony couldn't help but get a lame feeling as he looked at it. He picked up a random stack of blueprints and threw them on the table to make it seem less... empty.
"Hey, did Peter forget this?" Tony asked, holding up the phone.
"Well, sir, it does seem it is here while he is not," Jarvis sassed.
"But he won't be able to make the calls or text anyone without it," Tony urged, looking at it. He thought for a second.
"I have to bring it to him."
Without giving anyone a warning, without caring about the warnings about his 'improper relationships', he'd gotten into his red Audi and made his way to peters school.
"Mr Parker, are you ready?" Peter nodded nervously.
"You're up next," Mr Locke informed him, kindly placing a hand on his shoulder before moving on.
"Peter!"
Peter turned around quickly, finding himself looking at the exit.
"Mr Stark?" He hissed, quickly making his way out to the hallway.
"What are you doing here?" He asked immediately; "are you mad? I swear I was gonna bring them back!"
"Peter, relax. You forgot this," Tony sighed, holding up the phone.
"Oh."
"Did you finish?" He asked. Peter nodded nervously.
"You should probably get out there," Tony realised quietly. Peter nodded.
"Are you.. gonna stay and watch?" Tony thought for a second.
He really shouldn't.
"Wouldn't miss it for the world." He threw on a casual smile.
"I'll be in the back so you have everyone's attention though," he continued.
"Oh, great," Peter said, the sarcasm shining Through his voice.
"You'll do great," Tony assured him.
"Peter Parker, introducing his ai, Jax," Mr Locke introduced, releasing a wave of polite clapping.
Without a word, Peter made his way to the stage and plugged in his own (Mr starks) screen to the whiteboard, ensuring that everyone could see the little picture of a microphone that lit up when Jax listened.
That way they could also see the phone's screen, as that was showing on the computer screen.
"J-Jax?" Peter stuttered. The microphone lit up for a second.
"Hello, Mr Parker. What can I do for you today?" Jax asked politely.
"Uhm, could you send a text to 'Ned'," Peter enunciated.
"Of course, Mr Parker." On the whiteboard, you could see Jax open the messages between himself and Ned.
"Tell him that," he looked on the note in his hand; "that the red fox is eating the dog food."
Each participant had gotten a random note they would have to message to someone, so everyone was sure there was no cheating.
On the screen, Jaxs typing could be seen.
"I have written: The red fox is eating the dog food. Would you like me to proceed and send?" Peter nodded.
"Yes, that's perfect, thank you." The message sent, and Ned proudly held up his phone, miming to everyone that could see that 'I got it!'.
"Now we just need you to call someone, Mr Parker," Mr Locke reminded him. Peter nodded and send him a small.
"Jax, call someone."
"Who would you like me to call?" Jax asked patiently.
"Uh, anyone, just call someone on the contact list," Peter waved it off.
"Calling: Tony Stark," Jax informed as the calling screen appeared.
A mumble spread amongst the audience, several gasps as well as a certain Eugene already having figured out it must have been fake.
"Jax, hang up," Peter urged.
"Would you like me to hang up, Mr Parker?"
"Yes! Yes, just ha-"
Peters' voice was interrupted by a phone ringing.
"Oh no," he muttered to himself. The call was answered.
"This is Tony," Tony replied cheerfully, his voice echoing through both the auditorium as well as through Jax.
"Oh, hey Pete. Why are you calling, kid?" He joked on, casually strolling down the empty space between the lines of chairs, making his way to the stage with his phone to his ear,
"Mr Stark!" Peter hissed loudly; "oh god, this can't be happening."
Tony stepped onto the stage, hanging up the call and putting his phone back in the pocket of his suit.
"Hello, peters school," he greeted surely.
Before any of the audience got a chance to reply, the door burst down, revealing more journalists and photographers than Peter had ever seen gathered before, all yelling questions about the relationship between Peter and Tony.
"Okay okay, calm down, he's a kid, he's like a son to me," Tony urged, getting a little worked up as he noticed Peter stepping back. He calmingly put an arm around him, gently squeezing him.
"He's my intern, that's why you've seen him around the tower," he lied, not glancing at the little confused Peter by his side.
It hadn't been what Peter had hoped, but it definitely hadn't been the worst thing that could happen. As for Tony, he'd quite enjoyed it. He got to look proudly from the back as he watched Peter present Jax, and afterwards he'd gotten his share of the attention - something necessary to his survival.
Once the school had gotten the journalists out and Peter and Tony finally had gotten a break, Tony had turned to the kid.
"So, need a job?"
"A-a job, mr Stark?" Peter stuttered.
"Well, I need an intern. And it kind of has to be you now," he joked casually before nodding towards the computer Peter had borrowed; "maybe you can earn enough to buy that from me."
"Oh, speaking of," Peter remembered, sliding the phone out of his pocket and handing it to Tony, who just looked at it.
"Nah, keep it. I need to be able to get in touch with my intern, don't I?" He said calmly, watching peters eyes expand.
"Wait, t-that was real?!"
"Don't worry, you don't have to do anything," Tony assured him; "you just need to hang out around the tower until everything's calmed down. Maybe we can work on Jax together or something."
Tony shrugged casually, while Peter seemed anything but calm.
"Peter, Peter, oh god, are you okay?" May asked worriedly as she finally found her nephew. She grabbed his face as she inspected him closely.
"Aunt May, I'm fine!" Peter promised, finally getting her to let go.
"I'm Tony," Tony introduces himself, reaching a hand out.
"Tony Stark," May mentioned, looking at him unimpressed. Tony glanced at Peter who sent him an apologetic smile as may pulled Tony in for a hug.
"I'm so relieved, I thought Peter was lying when he said he'd been at stark tower pretty much every day! I thought he was on drugs," she explained as she pulled away, letting go of the startled genius.
"What? Oh, no, peters been helping me around," Tony lied, awkwardly putting his hands into his pockets.
"Well," May decided, already turning to Peter again; "I just spoke to your teacher. You won!"
"I won?" Peter exclaimed.
"You won!" Tony repeated happily.
"This is so amazing, now I get to go on the trip!" He said happily, almost jumping up and down.
Tony wasn't about to burst his bubble just to say he obviously would've paid for the trip, even if he hadn't won.
"We have to celebrate!" May realised, turning back to Tony; "come over for dinner. I'll make meatloaf!"
And that's how Tony Stark ended up sitting in a cheap apartment in Queens, eating the worst meatloaf he would've been able to imagine while a shy kid was celebrating a high school price and his oddly hot aunt was totally unaffected by the fact that Tony Stark was in her living room.
And, Tony realised... he loved it.
Jarvis Junior has come to an end! Aaaaand as has my bunch of prewritten oneshots. Since I'm running kind of low on inspiration these days, I'd really love if any of you had requests or suggestions.
Once I have my chapter for next friday written as well as an extra, I'll go back to the whole 'earn an extra' thing, since I actually really enjoyed that and hope you did too.
Thanks for reading!
