and they were roommates - pt 2
"So May said Peter would stay with Clark in a situation like this?" Tony repeated, making sure he was getting it right. Mr. Anderson nodded.
"Okay, well... What's the problem with that?" he continued.
"Peter's currently going through a tough time-"
"I wonder why," Tony interrupted Clark, leaning back in May's dining chair.
"And he's objecting. He seems to be... Blaming me, for May's..." Clark's voice went silent.
"I see. Well, then why doesn't he come to stay with me?" Tony suggested casually.
"Well, Mr. Stark," Mr. Anderson said, still processing the fact that he was sitting across a dining table from Tony Stark; "You and Peter don't really have any relation to justify something like that."
"What are you talking about? He's my intern," Tony argued.
"Well, yes, but, Clark did have the role as Peters father figure for several years," Mr. Anderson stated, and Tony went quiet.
"I remember talking to May about this," Clark told after clearing his throat; "She, um, she thought it'd be best for Peter to stay with me."
"When did this happen? Why wasn't I consulted? You're talking about Peter's future, I have every right to be involved! This kid, not to mention his aunt, meant a hell of a lot to me, too!" Tony suddenly stated loudly.
"Well, yes, but, she thought it'd be better if he could continue his life as it was," Clark stated slowly.
"Right, well, I think we can agree that's not gonna happen, considering his aunt just fucking died, Clark!"
Tony took a deep breath, calming himself.
"His life has changed, whether we want to face it or not. It's not gonna be a bigger adjustment living with me than it would be living with you."
"But I've spent a lot of time with Peter-"
"As has I."
"-And we have our morning routines because I stay here a lot-"
"And as do we!" Tony cut through; "He stays at the tower at least twice a week, we have routines, too! Jarvis wakes him up, Pepper makes breakfast, Happy drives him to school."
"I'm sorry, who are these people you mention?" Mr. Anderson inquired, taking notes of the names.
"His employees," Clark commented annoyed.
"My family," Tony corrected; "Pete's family."
"I'm Pete's family, Tony!" Clark argued; "I'm his... Kind of... Sort of... Dad-like... Uncle... Person."
"I think," Mr. Anderson interrupted the two; "For now, it would be best to go with what May wanted."
"But Peter doesn't want that," Tony argued.
"But what Peter wants doesn't matter right now," Clark retorted quickly.
Mr. Anderson sighed, leaning slightly back in his chair.
"Oh, okay, my bad. You see, I thought this was about doing whats best for Pete!" Tony continued.
"Exactly. What's best for him, not what he wants."
"Well, Peter thinks it would be best to stay with me," Tony reminded.
"Maybe so, but Peter is a child, and he just lost his aunt! He's not capable of making that decision!"
"Peter is one of the single most capable people I know, I think he deserves to have a say in this," Tony states bluntly.
"Well, agree to disagree," Clark replied quickly.
"Well, agree to I don't fucking cARE, CLArk!"
"Mr. Stark!" Mr. Anderson intervened shocked; "Okay, for now, Peter will go to Clark Smith's and be in his care."
Clark sent Stark a smug smile.
"After the funeral, it can be reconsidered, and if necessary, we can arrange for adoption papers. Though I should warn you, should Mr. Stark be considered as guardian, he'll need to go through a thorough check to see if he's capable of raising a kid, and Mr. Smith will need to sign a paper saying that he is either unable or unwilling to care for Peter Parker."
Nobody said a word, and Mr. Anderson took a deep breath.
"Now, if that will be all-"
"Peter stays with me on Fridays," Tony interrupted.
"Excuse me?"
"Peter stays with me on Fridays. He has for years. It's Friday today," Tony added.
"Well, a lot has happened, I think Peter would benefit from-"
"From stability, right?" Tony interrupted Clark; "From avoiding too many changes?"
"Mr. Stark," Mr. Anderson began.
"It's okay," Clark silenced him, taking a deep breath; "I know Peter stays with you on Fridays, and I know how much that means to him. I'm not going to take that away."
Tony looked evaluatingly at Clark, who sent him a small smile.
"I'll pick him up at the tower tomorrow. Or you can drop him off at my place," he continued.
Tony nodded without a word before standing up.
Do you or any of your friends have weird nicknames? And do they have weird/funny reasons, or are they just random?
My best friend had a shirt with fur in kindergarten (when none of us knew each other) so obviously we ALWAYS call her Fur.
