~4~

Shock and awe washes over me as I was stunned and immobile.

But I still couldn't breathe.

I slap against my forcefield bubble collar and allow sweet, new, slightly acidic air to rush into my nose and mouth to fill my lungs, with a slight burning after sensation.

I gasp for air hungrily as I wave my arms back and forth to keep steady momentum and not fall below the water's surface again.

The torrent of words breaking through and flooding my mind was unending.

How, where, what, why, when, HOW!?

But I'm sure my questions couldn't hold a candle to the ones pouring through right now as my wrist wouldn't stop beeping endlessly.

Being able to see now with the lazy orange-tinted glow of Titan's "sunlight", I could glimpse the screen on my wrist going ballistic and constantly flashing incessantly.

I instantly feel all the soreness of my muscles come crashing down on me at once.

Unlike under the water where it felt like I was devoid of all forms of sensation, outside of sound, sight, and touch, everything was muddled and diluted. Like a layer of mud stood between my environment and the rest of my senses.

But now I feebly try to reach down into my suit pocket, peel open the latch, and drag back up the small yellow inflatable item. Careful not to accidentally click the medium-sized red button on it that activated its inflation. Had to make sure it and my hand were above water before that.

My hand breaks the surface and I click it, the resulting sound always almost scaring the piss out of me.

Whoosh!

I giant 'me-sized' safety raft expands outwards on itself, and I take a few moments steeling my mind before making the effort to throw myself in. Exhaustion gripping me tightly.

It's not like it would go anywhere. We've already established the batshit crazy water properties of Titan. But I still kept a protective and cautious arm on the edge of the flotation device.

My morning had already been crazy hectic as it was. I wasn't ready to deal with another unavoidable disaster.

"1...2...3!" I hoisted myself over the edge and lay flat on the bed of the yellow raft and continue to breathe heavily as my head pounded and my heart raced a thousand miles an hour.

"Why in God's name am I doing this?" I openly ponder with harshly dried lips and a hoarse voice.

I tried to sit up but fall back down as my spine refused to cooperate, followed by an unexpected cry escaping my lips.

Did I injure my back?

The sharp stinging sensation emanating from there telegraphed to me as much. Maybe I hit myself on the way down into the water when I escaped my ship?

I directed my eyes towards the heavens and saw....nothing.

Good God! What the actually fuck!?

"Am I even surprised?" I sardonically say.

I reach my hand up to click on my holographic visor from my ear device, and slip my hands down to unzip my suit and slowly peel my way out.

[Ohmigosh! Where's the ship!?]

[Are you hurt anywhere??? It seemed like you couldn't get up!]

[HOW DID YOU SURVIVE THAT!? OH MY GOD!!!]

[WHY DID YOU SURVIVE THAT!? NOW I OWE SOMEONE 50 BUCKS!! ARG!!]

[Guess who won 50 dollars yaaaaall!! Free chicken nuggets for everyone!]

I let out a big sigh as my only acknowledgement towards the comments and tried to swallow hard to wet my increasingly drying throat.

I'd kill for a glass of water right now, but I knew better than to drink Titan's water without treating it first.

Unless I wanted to slowly burn a hole through my stomach and intestines.

A red comment pops through my growing hazy vision.

[🔴I am in shock that you are still alive. How do you manage to always get yourself out of these situations!?🔴]

I snort at that as I slowly begin to turn myself from side to side. Easing myself into getting used to the pain roaring across my back before forcing myself to get up.

She talks as if this is a regular ol Tuesday for me, and not a very rare, probably only happened 3 times before, occurrence since I first landed on Titan.

Most of my days were spent in abject solitude, my livestreams the only thing keeping me company, and most importantly, sane.

I'd eat breakfast on the open door of my ship staring out into the endless abyss of Titan's water surface. Glancing up at the sky to see its unique weather pattern.

Being so far away from the sun, and a moon to Saturn, there wasn't really a 'day and night' cycle. The planetary body had a way of generating its own light WITHIN itself!

It was fascinating to watch.

It would generate its own light using only God's knows what kind of sciencey witchcraft, and then it would dissipate over time into an almost natural night cycle after a few days or weeks, depending on how much light it was able to generate.

Once all energy was gone, a beautiful 'night' cycle begins with the sky begin illuminated by a hundred thousand stars. And the planet Saturn itself offering a dull deep orange glow off towards an eastern leaning horizon, barely breaking through the Titan's thick atmosphere.

Another thing amazing about this 'planet.'

Almost forgot.

I can breathe on it!

In technicality.

Which is the only thing that matters honestly.

A golden comment pops up to drag me out of my sleep-lulling thoughts.

[💛I'm pretty sure your ship is fine and may still be around somewhere. Maybe trying looking around?💛]

"Yeah, I'm not worried about the ship. There are only two places it can go, up or down," I say. "It most likely didn't get out of the way of the tsunami in time and it got hit."

I tip my body up, wincing but fighting through the pain, and look over the edge of my boat.

Sure enough, off in the veeeeery far distance, my ship bobbed on the water's surface, stagnant in place but slightly tipped to the side.

"That can't be good," I mumbled to myself.

I reach up to my ear and click a button

"I'm switching you guys watching at home to my computer monitor's camera view, so you can see the inside of my ship and tell me the damage."

I wait a bit and more comments start zipping by my small visor screen.

[IT'S AN ABSOLUTE MESS!]

[EVERYTHING IS DESTROYED!! RUINED!!]

[It's not that bad??? What are you guys on about??]

[It's completely unsalvageable. You're doomed.]

[What a weird time for a bunch of y'all to decide to be trolls. Don't listen to them girl, your room is fine.]

I didn't allow the hoard of comments to mess with me, as I sort of expected as much.

But I still stomped down on the bubbling of worry welling within me. I wouldn't allow myself to fully panic or calm down till I saw a coloured comment.

And a gold one popped up.

[💛Please pay those comments no mind. The inside of the ship is slightly disorganized, things fell around, but it's mostly fine.💛]

A red comment swiftly follows.

[🔴Ya, everything is its usually disgustingly messy self.🔴]

I allowed myself to breathe a sigh of relief I'd definitely been holding in, and look back to my ship.

I click the button on my visor again and the view for the audience switches back to me.

"It seems like I might have a 3-4 hour rowing session ahead of me. And seeing as I don't have anything else to use, my hands and arm will simply have to do." I spoke with determination as I balled my hands in fists and got accompanied by dozens of encouraging comments.

There were the mean ones hoping I'd bleed to death from my back wound, but shrugging those off was fairly easy at this point.

Plus they were all getting banned.

I buckled down and lay myself on the edge of the raft, making sure to secure a safety line from it to me, tying it around my waist so as to make sure if I fell into the water I'd have a way back up and not get lost and surely die this time around.

Which was a great idea as I'd swiftly fallen in not more than 2 minutes into rowing myself.

I was quickly able to pull myself back up. But that just showed I'd have to be more careful in steering myself towards my ship that had been knocked out of the sky away from me by an overglorified surf wave.

This was going to take six hours.

And I was too hungry and exhausted to last 20 minutes.

I'd alternated rowing with each arm for 5 minutes, moving to either side of the raft every time I needed to switch arms. Mostly so I didn't fall asleep and just never wake up again.

15 minutes in I could feel my body begin to spasm but I forcefully ignore it.

More bets started flowing into the chat if I would make it, sprinkled in with Holy Christian prayers.

I didn't know which would kill me first.

My body or my chat.

A shiny golden comment pops into the mess to blessedly distract me.

[💛I'm sure it might seem tedious, but I'm confident you'll reach your ship in no time!💛]

"Your optimism is admirable, good sir or madam or non-binary person. I'd kiss you if we ever meet to preserve that childlike innocence of yours."

[💛Is that a promise?💛]

"What in the-"

My words are cut short as I'm met with a loud THUD and my whole body suddenly being flung forward onto the raft.

I look up and see...MY SHIP!?

I'd...reached it!?

HOW!?!?
