Wakefulness plagues me;
mem'ry degrades me,
you were a fakery
taking fat fee from me.

Your love endangers me;
snaking away from me;
cradle and care for me,
coldly betray me.

Pray you don't slake me with oaths just to stay me,
say once we could be "forever" and fail me.

I wrote this poem in the middle of the night on the day I found out my partner had been cheating on me with his ex for 3 years. I was spending the night at my best friend's place since I lived with my partner and I couldn't be around him. He kept phoning, telling me how much he loved me, and how it was all a terrible mistake... He begged me not to leave him. I wanted to believe what he said...
