Chapter 1

A/N: Here's where things get really interesting. Please enjoy! ^^

______________

Kim Namjoon boarded the earliest train he could to get to Daegu. Ever since he had tried contacting Min Yoongi, he had gotten no response, which worried him.

These times were about to get chaotic. He could sense it. He knew that he, nor any of the other superhumans, were safe. That meant they only had one choice; to hide away.

That also meant he had to warn those who escaped of what was coming. He had lost contact with many after the incident when they managed to get away from that place.

He still had to try and warn the ones he could, though, and with a bit of help, maybe he could even find the others he used to know.

Namjoon sat in his seat, glancing out the window and thinking what to say. He already knew how Yoongi was. If he told him directly about what happened, he would surely refuse.

"You're a strange guy, Min Yoongi." He twisted his mouth as he stared down at his phone screen. All his messages to Yoongi were unanswered. All 15 of them.

It could either mean two things; he was already found and taken away by the government, or he was just ignoring Namjoon. Whichever one it was, he would still have to go visit him.

Namjoon's thoughts were interrupted by his phone vibrating. His eyes widened as he noticed the caller ID: Kim Taehyung. He answered and murmured into the phone. "Hey."

"Hi, Namjoon. Have you gotten a response from Yoongi yet?"

Namjoon frowned. "No. You?"

"Tsk… nothing. Are you coming to Daegu today? I got word that they're moving around. I think they're searching Seoul."

"Good thing I just got out of there. Any idea where they're going next?"

Taehyung chuckled through the line. "I'm not a hacker, Namjoon. I just saw the article that said government agents were going to be 'investigating' something in Seoul."

"Ah, right, right." Namjoon playfully rolled his eyes. "So we're meeting up at 1, right?"

"Just as planned." The other replied. "Oh yeah. I also asked around, did a bit of searching. All of the other escapees have some form of contact online."

Namjoon's eyes widened. "Huh? Really?"

Taehyung answered in a matter-of-factly tone, "Yep. There was a boy named Park Jimin back then, right?"

"Oh yeah, I remember him. I hardly knew him, really."

"He lives in Busan, which just so happens to be the place where Jeon Jungkook is staying."

Namjoon tried to jog his memory. He hadn't heard those names since he was 11. Luckily, he had a sharp mind and a quick memory. "I heard of him. He was in a younger group. Poor kid, he was like 8 when we left."

"I'll give you their usernames and everything. So after we leave Daegu, we go to Busan?" Taehyung asked.

"If that's the shortest trip, then yeah. What other places are they at?"

Taehyung sighed on the call, "Well, if we want to find Jung Hoseok, we go to Gwangju-"

Namjoon cringed. "Ugh, that's far."

"There's also Kim Seokjin in Gyeonggi-Do."

"Gyeonggi-do? I could have gone there first when I was still in Seoul."

Taehyung stayed quiet for a bit. "Ah, you're right. Sorry, hyung. You did kind of just make an impromptu mission out of nowhere."

Namjoon sighed and nodded. "I know, I know. I just…" he leaned back in his seat and frowned. "I had a bad feeling about this thing. I mean, the government just coming out of nowhere to investigate something? It's probably to search for the ones that got away after eight years. It just does not seem right. And you know how that affected us even after we left that place. It's not pretty."

Taehyung agreed, "I get what you're saying. What would they want to do with us after eight years, though?"

"They probably want to finally recover what they lost. Remember, we were their guinea pigs." He murmured. "They also probably think we're a danger to society. Although I've never heard of a superpowered human terrorizing a city in South Korea." He looked around suspiciously to make sure no one was listening.

"That's true. They'd probably just take us back and… you know," Taehyung couldn't even finish his thought.

Namjoon didn't want to imagine what could happen. What had happened before? The worst things possible. "Yeah. Anyways, thanks for the help."

Taehyung's voice cheered up a bit. "No problem. Let me know how it goes with Yoongi, okay? If you need some backup, just tell me. I know he can be stubborn." He snickered.

Namjoon chortled, "Thanks, Taehyung. See you." And with that, he hung up. He set his phone down on his lap and fixed his brown coat which covered part of his black t-shirt.

Looking out the window again, Namjoon waited patiently for the train to arrive at his next destination: Daegu.

Yoongi stepped out of his room, already dressed for the day. He made himself a cup of cold coffee, sat at the kitchen counter and sighed. Even if it was almost 11 am, he still felt tired.

The nightmare he had the night before still lingered in his mind. He had learned to ignore it, though, so he could go about his day as if nothing happened.

"Seven hours isn't enough." He groaned as he sipped his coffee. Normally, he would sleep ten hours and wake up feeling refreshed. This time, he could hardly sleep. The weird thing was, he didn't know why.

Yoongi lazily pulled on a black sweater to go out. He needed to get some groceries for himself before it got too late. He put the rest of his coffee in a cup to take with him and he put on some shoes.

Yoongi wiped his eyes as he fixed his sweater and went to the door and opened it. He stopped when he saw a person standing right at the door.

Namjoon held his hand up as if he was just about to knock. He looked up and saw Yoongi holding the door open. His eyes widened. "Oh, Yoongi-hyung!"

The two stared at each other, the younger waiting for a response.

A few seconds passed before Yoongi made up his mind. "You know what, I think I'll stay home today." He nodded to himself before closing the door in Namjoon's face and locking it.

Namjoon blinked in disbelief at his reaction. Are you kidding me?

Yoongi leaned against the door, arms crossed over his chest as he anticipated the sound of footsteps leaving.

"Hyung, open the door please?"

"Go away, Namjoon."

"No. I came all the way here just to make sure you were alright. Why didn't you answer any of my calls or texts?"

Silence.

Yoongi licked his lips and looked back at the door.

"Why are you ignoring me? You know I don't just come here for any reason." Namjoon pointed out.

Yoongi twisted his mouth, exhaling through his nose. He should've known that answer.

Hyung, I'm serious. Stop ignoring me.

Yoongi groaned and frowned. "Don't use it on me." He muttered as he turned toward the door, glaring. It always came down to Namjoon having to use his powers to talk to him.

You know I can do this all day.

Namjoon smirked to the door as he tried to guess how much his friend could stand this. He didn't need to read his mind to tell he was already getting irritated.

Come on. Just talk to me.

No. Yoongi thought in his head to respond to his friend's telepathic message.

You know, Taehyung was right. You really are stubborn.

Thanks, it's a gift.

Wow, and you never like any gifts you get.

No response.

Oh yeah, my trip was fine, by the way. Thank you for asking.

Yoongi rolled his eyes in response. "Jerk." He muttered.

I can hear you both ways, hyung.

Can you just get out of my head now? It's annoying.

Promise you'll open the door and listen to me?

Yoongi considered it for a bit. He already knew Namjoon's motive for being here, and he wasn't the least bit interested in what he needed.

On the other hand, if he just let him say what he needed to say and sent him on his way, he could have the rest of the day in peace to himself.

The door unlocked and Yoongi looked at Namjoon. He sighed and leaned against the side of the door. He pulled out his cell phone and checked the clock. "You have one minute." He answered as he held the screen in front of him.

Namjoon sighed. "Okay. So I've been talking to Taehyung for a while and we figured out how to get in contact with those that escaped with us-"

"Forty seconds." Yoongi droned.

"-Our old friends from the lab we were at when we were younger." Namjoon clarified, ignoring his friend's rude interruption. "All of them are still alive, and they're in Korea."

"Thirty-five seconds."

Namjoon shook his head and continued, "Two are in Busan, one in Gwangju, and the other in Gyeonggi do. Taehyung found that out after searching their names online."

"Twenty-"

"Stop!"

Yoongi clicked his tongue in annoyance. "You're doing a lot of explaining, but I still don't know where I come in."

Namjoon narrowed his eyes in confusion. "Huh?"

"Please." Yoongi scoffed. "You never just stop by or talk to me unless you want something from me. If it's to have a little reunion with the four other kids I hardly even remember that probably also forgot about us, count me out."

"This isn't about that! Why do you always assume things before you know?" Namjoon asked, stepping forward.

Yoongi shoved one hand in his pocket. "Yeah, I'm not participating this time, Namjoon." He backed up and put his hand on the door. "It was nice catching up, though."

Namjoon raised an eyebrow. "You haven't let me explain everything yet."

"I'm done listening, bye." Yoongi stepped back into his house and started to close the door, when he was stopped by something. He glanced down and saw one of Namjoon's shoes holding a gap between the door and the wall.

He looked up and frowned. "What the he-"

"They're coming for us, Yoongi." Namjoon said bluntly.

Yoongi's dark eyes widened as he processed those words. "What?"

Namjoon pushed the door open, which was easy due to Yoongi letting go of the doorknob. He stepped into the house and shut the door behind him. "They're looking for us."

Yoongi shook his head in disbelief. "Why didn't you start off with that first?"

"Well, if I started off by saying that, you would've been freaking out like you are now."

"I am not freaking out." Yoongi defended in a calm tone. "I just thought you would know to tell me the most important thing first. Are they actually looking for us?"

Namjoon nodded slowly. "It's a light topic, and no one really knows about it. Taehyung and I investigated it and they say the government intelligence wanted to recover some old sensitive information, so they would search all of Korea. They're obviously referring to people like us. The ones that escaped almost nine years ago."

Yoongi frowned and looked down. "What does that mean for us?"

Namjoon looked at him as both of them already knew what he would say. "We have to leave our homes and go somewhere in hiding. They're searching Seoul first, then they're probably going to go further down."

"Is that why you wanted to warn the others who left with us?"

Namjoon nodded again. "They were there too. They know exactly what it's like in that place. Being treated like an animal, being controlled and experimented on like nothing but a lab rat."

Yoongi cringed at the term his friend used, but all that he said was true.

"We need to tell them. They may not remember us or want anything to do with us, but we still have to let them know." Namjoon looked at him. "So this isn't just about meeting them again, it's about helping them get away a second time from those people."

Yoongi licked his lips and pursed them, not knowing what to say. I mean, can I really tell him what he's doing is wrong?

"So what do you say? Are you going to join me and Taehyung, or are you going to deal with this solo?" Namjoon held out his hand as an offer for Yoongi. He trusted whatever his friend would choose, and he would respect it, no matter what.

Yoongi glanced down at his hand then took it shortly after. "Okay. I'll do it." He smirked a little.

A smile grew on Namjoon's face as he shook his hand. "Thank you, hyung." He sighed in slight relief.

"Yeah, don't mention it." Yoongi answered and sighed, looking around his house. "When do we have to leave? How long do we have before they hit Daegu?"

Namjoon shook his head. "I don't know. We have a theory that they're moving down, but we can't be sure. I told Taehyung we would meet at 1. After that, we're taking off for Busan. Pack as little as you can."

Yoongi sighed. "I don't need a lot anyways." He shrugged. "Well, let's go on an adventure." He went down the hall to his bedroom.

Namjoon grinned at his friend then looked at the ground.

Well that was easier than I thought.
