Chapter 11

(Muffin PoV)

I sat alone in the small containment unit, not even a window to look out of in the dark place. They say containment unit, but only to cover up the fact that it's a prison.

It's been a week or so since Laff brought us here, and I've seen no sign of Blaza, Nadwe, or any of the others. Just me, the prison cell, and the one guard that comes with food every so often. I've been talking to myself a lot, and I wonder if this is what going insane feels like.

Today was different, however. Today, Eli came with two guards.

"Hello... what's your name again?" He questioned.

"Muffin..." I said.

"Hm. Strange name," Eli muttered, "Anyways, today is your lucky day. I'm taking you to see your little friend."

I stood up quickly. "Nadwe?"

Eli nodded. "Walk with us, and there won't have to be trouble."

I nodded, and let the two guards walk on either side of me as Eli led me down the hall.

After a little bit, we came up on a darker containment unit with a layer of bulletproof glass at the front. Eli swiped a card on a panel to the side, and a small door opened up. The guards shoved me inside, and Eli closed the door.

I looked around, confused. Where was he? Did Eli just tell me that to get me to go willingly?

Suddenly, I heard a small hiss at the back to the room. I turned and saw Nadwe standing in the darkest reaches of the room, his back to me.

"Nadwe!" I exclaimed, "Are you okay?"

I wanted to run forward, but something told me to stay away. He gave of some sort of aura, telling me to stay away.

"You wanted to see your friend," Eli said from the other side of the glass, "Here he is."

As if on command, Nadwe turned around, and I gasped.

His usually bright blue eyes gleamed ruby red in the dark, looking bloodshot from thirst. I noticed for the first time two black, scaly, bat like wings sprouted from his back. His hands ended as deadly-looking claws. He was also really pale - don't know if it's from being in the dark for so long or what.

"Say hello to Nadwe," Eli chuckled, "Or, should I say, N-4DW3."

Nadwe hissed, showing that he also had fangs.

Eli started to walk away, but turned around at the last second. "And one thing to know. We haven't fed him in a couple of days, and he's... quite thirsty, may I say."

Nadwe crept closer to me, fangs bared. I stepped backwards.

"Nadwe...?" I whispered.

Nadwe growled, and lunged at me. He knocked me to the ground, and my head hit the floor hard. My ears were ringing, my head pounding. Nadwe sank his fangs into my neck, and I wanted to scream, but I couldn't find the energy. Breathing was near impossible, it hurt to think.

I saw black spots swim in front of my eyes, and I felt my life ebbing away.

"Nad..." I whimpered, flinching as I did, "please... it's me..."

Nadwe stood up and looked down at me, blood dribbling from his mouth. He tilted his head as to get a better look at me. He smiled.

"Thank you," he said, his voice raspy, "For your life."

He grabbed my neck and lifted me up, looking me in the eye. Nadwe gave me one last, bloodthirsty look before ramming my head into the wall.

I felt my skull cave into my brain, and I blacked out.

Forever.

I was losing hope with our situation.

We'd been locked up in what looked like a prison cell for a week or so. I couldn't be sure of the exact time, since I don't have a clock with me. Tbh, Woolfster, and Dino were with me. No sign of Muffin anywhere, nor Nadwe, Blaza, Ally, or Laff. I had seen Eli a few times, just passing by the cell, along with a few guards every now and then.

I sighed and stared out the cell door, bored and worried out of my mind. Worried about Muffin, worried about all of them. I need to stop worrying, that does nothing.

"Hello."

I snapped back to reality and saw Laff standing in front of the cell. Or, it looked like Laff. The entire right side of his body was mechanized, making him look like some kind of cyborg. His gas mask was also like that, which I was a bit surprised by. Maybe there's some kind of cloaking device?

"You're an experiment, too?" I said, "You hated Blaza because of it, and you're the same?"

"You think I chose this?" He asked, "I never signed up for this."

"Neither did Blaza, I'd guess," I said, "You're such a hypocrite, you know that?"

Laff sighed. "I'm here to take you to Blaza, so I suggest you shut up."

I blinked. "Am I supposed to believe that? Who's the one who got us in here, again?"

"I understand your reasons to not believe me," Laff said, "I'm a liar, yes, but I wouldn't get your hopes up like that. I feel like that's too much."

I sighed. "Fine. But you better not be lying."

Laff opened the cell door and urged Tbh and I out the door. Woolf and Dino, however, were held back.

"Not you two," Laff said, "We have plans for you."

Woolf looked at me nervously. I gave him worried look before Laff forced Tbh and I down the hallway.

Soon, we entered a large room. The walls, floor, and ceiling were light gray, with a window in the middle of one wall as to look down into the chamber. I didn't see Blaza anywhere, however.

"Laff, where are we?" I asked.

"That, my friend, is classified information," Laff said.

"Worrying," I muttered.

"Don't worry," Laff said, "Blaza will be in here soon enough. Just wait."

And at that, Laff walked out and closed the door, locking us in.

We sat in there for about five minutes, though it felt like five hours. I had started to wonder if Laff had lied again when a voice came over a speaker.

"Hello, you two."

I looked up to the window to see Eli with a walkie talkie type object in his hand, smiling.

"Where's Blaza?" I asked forcefully.

"You want to see 1424?" Eli asked. He chuckled. "Here he is."

I saw him press a button, and I heard a sound behind us. I turned to see a garage-type door opening. When it did, I saw Blaza standing there, looking down.

I sighed in relief, and started walking towards him. "Blaza! You're okay!"

I was stopped abruptly in my tracks when Blaza let out a low growl.

"Blaza?" I said, "You good, buddy?"

Blaza slowly lifted his head, and I saw the X in his left eye glowing deep red. His other pupil was also red, which was new. Around his neck was what looked like a collar of some sort.

My worrying turned to anger pretty fast. I turned and looked up at Eli.

"What did you do to him?" I shouted.

"I did nothing to him," Eli chuckled, "Only reminded him who he truly is."

He pressed a button in front of him. "B-1424, you may do what you like to them. But don't kill them yet."

Blaza looked me in the eye, his expression emotionless for a second before turning to white-hot hatred. He growled, and his tentacles shot forwards, wrapping around me like snakes. Blaza walked forward and smiled as he squeezed me as hard as he could. I choked, gasping painfully for breath as he put more and more pressure on my sides.

I turned to Tbh, who was staring at me in shock.

"Tbh..." I choked out softly, "Get... out of here..."

Blaza turned his attention to Tbh suddenly. Shoot. He heard me.

Blaza dropped me on the ground (VERY painfully, may I add) and pinned Tbh to the ground. I looked up to the two and saw Blaza raise his claw in the air and rake it across Tbh's face. Tbh screamed in pain, and I cringed as I saw his blood on the floor. Blaza stood up and just looked at him holding his hand to his face as blood spilled from the wound.

And he actually smiled.

Blaza then grabbed Tbh's neck and threw him across the room, and I heard something break as he hit the floor about thirty feet away - maybe his skull, I really didn't wanna know."

Eli's voice came over the comms again. "That's enough."

Blaza grunted in annoyance and walked back to the door he came from.

Why doesn't he fight back? I wondered. He could easily kill Eli with one swift flick of his tentacle.

Then I remembered the collar around Blaza's neck. Was that what kept him from killing Eli? Some sort of shock collar, maybe?"

I groaned in pain as I tried to get up. My ears rang, and I couldn't feel anything in my left leg.

From my experience, that was never a good sign.

I got up and slowly dragged myself over to Tbh, who was lying limp on the floor. I knelt down and placed my fingers on the side of his neck. I sighed in relief as I felt a faint pulse. Good. He's alive.

I heard footsteps, and I saw Eli standing there next to two experiments - one with a red hoodie and a head that was literally a large cup of lemonade with a straw, and the other with purple skin and four colorful dots where his right eye would have been.

"Take them back to their containment," Eli said, "I'll get the medics in there to patch them up."

The juice-head guy nodded, and walked over to put Tbh over his shoulder. The purple one walked over to me and slung my arm behind his neck to help me walk. Eli walked off, saying something into his walkie talkie as he left.

There was one thing I was sure of right then and there.

We needed to find Nadwe and Muffin, fix Blaza somehow, and find a way to get rid of Eli for good. And maybe Laff and Ally, if they're not gonna help us.
