Chapter 33: Waiting
3rd POV
"Izuku!"
The three watched as the boy's eyes began to flutter closed. The heart monitor began beeping faster and faster. Panic was spreading through the ambulance.
"We are here!" Everyone sprung into action. Aizawa, Hizashi, and Bakugo jumped out allowing the paramedics to pass, wheeling Izuku quickly inside. They placed an oxygen mask over his nose and mouth, steadily pumping it as they ran. The group was met at the doors by nurses.
"What's going on?" The nurse said calmly. The paramedic quickly went through the details as they twisted through the halls into an operating room. The three following the paramedics were cut off at the OR door.
"I'm sorry, but you can't go farther. We are going to have to operate. Please, stay in the waiting room. We will come to you with any information we find." The doctor turned away, pushing through the forbidden doors. Izuku just behid the doors, his chest being cleaned. A steady beep flooded the room.
They watched in horror as the heart monitor flatlined.
"N-no." A tear fell down Bakugo's face. He watched as they slammed defibrillator onto the small boys chest.
Nothing.
They charged the devices up again.
Nothing.
Bakugo screamed as the doors began to close. He cried out to Izuku as he watched the pieces of metal hit the boys chest once more. Tears streaming down his face. Hizashi had dropped to the floor, sobbing into his hands. Aizawa stood next to him, breaking at the sight.
*beep* *beep*
The doors closed.

Bakugo POV
"Kacchan!" A small green haired boy giggled beside me. I smirked. "Look! I got All Might too!"
"Nice!" We looked at our playing cards with pure joy.
"Let's be heroes. Just like All Might!" Shouted Izuku. I smiled wide, admiring the passion he showed.
I threw my fist into the air. "YEA!"
"Bakugo." I felt someone softly nudging me. I lifted my head to see Eye Bags holding two coffees. "Here." He said, holding one out for me. I'm not usually one for coffee, but there's no way in hell I'm going to be able to sleep.
"Thanks." I said softly. I could feel that my eyes were puffy from crying, but I couldn't care less at the moment. Eye bags sat beside me sipping his coffee. He wasn't looking much better than I was.
I felt my eyes fill with tears again. "Hey Eye b- Aizawa..." I sniffled, trying to hold back the tears. He hummed in response. "D-do you think... do you think he'll be ok?" My voice cracked as I asked the question on both of our minds.
Aizawa's hands fell to his lap. I turned my head slightly to see tears trailing down his face. His eyes were full of sadness. "I-i really don't k-know." His voice broke as he spoke. Fear dripping from his words. I can tell that him and Present Mic really care for Izuku. I found comfort knowing that he had an adult that cared for him again.
We sat in silence for awhile sipping our coffee. News broadcasts of the battle with All For One seemed to play on loop. I looked up to see the footage of me holding Izuku in the bed of flowers. A mixture of anger and sadness boiled over. I shot up, violently turning off the TV. I scared the few people that were still in the waiting room. It was 3 a.m. by now, so I honestly didn't realize there were still other people around.
I sat back down, letting my head hang as I rested my elbows on my knees. I watched my tears hit the floor.
"Hey man." I looked up out of the corner of my eye. I saw Kirishima and most of the class now in the waiting room. I sat up fully as Aizawa walked over.
"What are you all doing here?" He asked, trying to sound composed. My classmates looked at the ground.
"Well, none of us could sleep. We are all really worried about Midoriya, so we asked Miss Midnight if we could come here." As he said that, a tired and worried looking Midnight appeared out from behind them. She was in casual clothes and looked a disheveled. Nezu was propped up on her shoulder.
"Truthfully, we were on our way here already." Nezu said, giving a small smile to the worried father. I looked to Aizawa, half expecting him to send them all back to the dorms. He looked at his students with tears filling his bloodshot eyes and nodded. He turned around and walked back to Present Mic, sitting down next to him and pulling him into a tight hug.
I sighed and shrunk down into my chair. Kirishima tossed a hoodie at me.
"I figured you would still be in your hero outfit so I brought you your hoodie." I hadn't even realized. I took off my outer gear and slid the soft fabric over my head, pulling up the hood. Kirishima sat next to me, and Todoroki next to him. Across from me, Ururaka, Iida, Tsu, Tokoyami, Jiro, and Momo sat down. Kaminari sat on the other side of me. A few others filled the other seats in the room.
We sat there quietly for hours. My mind racing, playing back my memories of Izuku. I thought about all the horrible things I had done to him. I regret those days more than anything else. If I had been there for him then, maybe he wouldn't be fighting for his life now. Silent tears fell down my face. I felt a hand on my shoulder again. Kirishima looked at me, his eyes watery. I felt myself break down a little more. I aggressively hugged him. I didn't make friends easy, but Kirishima is one of the best friends I've ever had. He held me tightly as I cried. I cried out my frustration and sadness and he let me, understanding that I just needed someone who would be there for me now.

3rd POV
Hours had passed and the sun began to rise. Most of the students of 1A were sleeping in the chairs of the waiting room, some leaning against one another. Aizawa, Bakugo, Ururaka and Todoroki remained awake. They were sitting next to each other, each with a fresh cup of coffee in their hands.
Bakugo's leg bounced violently from both nerves and caffeine. The other three didn't even notice as they themselves were wrapped up in their own thoughts.
People began to trickle into the waiting room again, filling some of the empty seats. The four worried souls watched as the morning shift clocked in, releasing the night crew. A soft hum of conversation now filled the room, breaking the stiff silence that had been there over throughout the night.
The red eyed boy felt his heart jump each time someone exited the doors leading to the operating rooms. He glared at the doors, mentally willing the doctor to come out soon. They all needed to know how Izuku was doing. Or if he was even alive. Izuku wasn't in the best state, mentally or physically when they were separated.
The door flung open once more. Bakugo jumped out of his seat, scaring awake some of the others around him. His eyes were glued to the doctor. Aizawa and Hizashi were up just as fast. The doctor slowly walked up to them as the rest of the class was shaken awake.
He looked at them with tired eyes. He had been up all night fighting to save Izuku. He waited for everyone to gather before he took a deep breath.
