Chapter 23: The First Night
3rd POV
"Let's get this party started!" Ashido yelled in excitement. The class began to chat amongst themselves.
"What should we do first?" Tsu asked. Everyone thought for a second.
"Oh! What if we do a room competition!" The room mumbled some yeses and nos. Eventually the yes option won.
The group of students started making their ways through the halls, looking into each room. Soon they reached Bakugo's dorm. Bakugo groaned. "You damn extras better not touch anything." People filed in, judging the room.
"Pretty much what I expected." stated Sero plainly. A few people nodded. The room was decorated with skulls and workout equipment. There were posters of grenades on the walls as well as an All Might poster. Izuku chuckled at the sight of the poster, remembering how much they both adored the hero as kids. Once the group was satisfied, they filed out, moving on to the next room. Izuku cringed, realizing that meant his room was next.
He meekly walked up to his door. "I-it's not much." He let out an anxious laugh and opened the door. As his classmates followed inside, they looked around the barren room. Confusion filled the room.
"Midoriya, have you not unpacked yet?" Iida asked curiously. Izuku felt his face go red and shyly fiddled with the ends of his sleeves.
"I-i h-have. This is it." He spoke quietly. The class knew Midoriya had some kind of encounter with villains, but they didn't know the entirety of his past. Bakugo saw Midoriya getting more uncomfortable with the situation and felt himself starting to get angry. He took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. He knew the freckled boy didn't like when he blew up on their classmates.
"Why don't you have anything in here then?" Iida asked again. Izuku met the eyes of his questioning classmates. He had no idea how to respond to that.
"W-well I-i-i, um, ya know. I j-just hav-haven't gotten around to it y-yet." He tried to make his words sound convincing. It didn't work too well.
"Why didn't you just bring stuff from home?" Todoroki asked this question, earning his a deadly glare from Bakugo who was now fuming with anger. Ururaka seemed to notice Izuku's discomfort and jumped in.
"Well I think it's great. It's got the minimalistic look to it!" She smiled, softly nudging Izuku. "Who's next?" She asked, ushering everyone out of the room.
Izuku let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. He grabbed Ururaka's arm lightly.
"Th-thank you." He said softly. She gave the small boy a smile and pulled him into a hug.
"No problem." She released the hug. "You seemed a bit uncomfortable, so I thought it might have been a touchy subject." Izuku stayed quiet looking at the ground. "You ok to keep going? I don't think anyone will blame you if you hang back for the rest of this." He paused, thinking over the question.
"N-no. I'll keep going. I don't want to ruin the f-fun." He gave her a small smile and they joined the others.
Finally the tour came to an end.
"And the winner issssss..." Ashido opened and invisible envelope. "Satooooo!" Everyone clapped, some more enthusiastic than others. They chatted amongst themselves for a bit. After awhile someone mentioned food.
"Oh! I brought snacks!" Kirishima ran off to the kitchen with an assortment of packaged foods. Sato ran off bringing down the rest of his cake. Momo went and ordered a pizza.
The pizza arrived soon after and they all dug in.
"Here you go Midoriya!" Ashido handed him a plate with a slice of pizza on it. He looked at it funny, but accepted. He walked back over to the couches and sat down, still looking at the food. Kaminari noticed his weird behavior.
"Midoriya, you not hungry?" Izuku looked up. He still hadn't gotten much of his appetite back, but that wasn't the current issue.
He pointed to the pizza. "What is this?" He asked plainly. The class froze, Bakugo looked at him mid bite.
There was a long pause before someone answered. Izuku got the feeling that he had asked something really weird. "Uhhh, it's pizza."
Tokoyami spoke up. "Midoriya, haven't you had pizza before?" Izuku went red again, nervously rubbing the back of his neck.
"Uh, no. M-my dad w-was really strict with food." He tried his best to play it off. "S-sorry I asked. It looks delicious though!" He smiled, hoping that the subject would change. Slowly, everyone returned to their conversations. Izuku slowly bit into the pizza, slightly nervous about the taste. He pulled back from his bite with the cheese pulling. His eyes widened at the flavors, glistening with pure delight. He happily bounced as he became entranced with his meal. Bakugo and Todoroki noticed Izuku's pure reaction and smiled to themselves.
Izuku was able to finish the slice of pizza and was proud of his accomplishments. So proud in fact that he texted this information to his dad.
"What should we do next?" Jiro asked from across the room, setting a few plates into the sink.
"Oh! Let's play never have I ever!" Ashido exclaimed. She seemed to really enjoy parties. Once everyone was on board, the game began.
As they were deciding who would go first, Midoriya wandered over to Bakugo who was sitting on the other couch. He tapped the blonde boy on his shoulder. "Kacchan?" The explosive boy turned his head to face the other. Midoriya lifted his hood a little, as it had fallen in front of his eyes. "H-how do you play th-this game?" Bakugo quickly gave his friend a run down of the game. He suggested that Izuku sit by him so he could help if the boy got lost during the game.
Soon it started. Jiro went first. "Never have I ever... broken my phone." Bakugo, Tokoyami, Kaminari, Ashido, and Sero put down a finger. A few laughs were let out through the room.
Ururaka went next. "Never have I ever kissed anyone." Kaminari, Ashido, Momo, Sero, Jiro, Sato, Iida, Bakugo, and Kirishima all put down fingers, lastly followed by Izuku. There were a few shocked looks to Izuku. No one expected this meek boy to have had a first kiss.
Next up, Sero. "Never have I ever.." He pasued, deviously smirking. "Kissed anyone in this room." Bakugo and Izuku immediately went red, both of them putting down a finger. The room exploded in questions.
"I knew it!" Kaminari yelled.
"It's perfect! So cuuuttteee!" Ashio gushed over the two.
"Alright! Clam down you damn extras!" Izuku grabbed Bakugo's sleeve, trying to get the boy to calm down. He was smiling a dorky lovesick grin. Bakugo blushed and sat back down. "Tch. Whatever."
Everyone watched in awe. "Incredible." Kirishima whispered. "It's like magic." A few snickers went through the room.
After they settled back down, it was Todoroki's turn. He sat there, unfazed by the chaos of the game. "Never have I ever had a soda." Everyone but Todoroki and Izuku put down a finger. Todoroki seemed surprised that didn't get the whole class and glanced at Izuku. He was getting more and more curious about the whole story of his odd classmate.
Next up was Ashido. She had the same devious smirk that Sero had. "Never have I ever," she paused for effect. "Had sex." Izuku felt his heart drop. He slowly put down a finger and looked up. No one else had put down a finger. All eyes were on him. He felt his heart rate go up.
"What?! How'd that green bean get some action before the rest of us!" Mineta shouted.
"Yea man. Spill."
"Yea!" Izuku was starting to panic. What was he supposed to say? That he was basically sold for sex while imprisoned by villains?
He felt tears start to form in his eyes. He tried backing away. Bakugo had been shoved to the side and couldn't see Midoriya's anxiety spiking. There were questions coming from every direction.
"I-i-i..." He stuttered, unable to think of any words. He felt his hood slip off his head, revealing the tufts of his now white hair that were poking out from his beanie. There was a gasp through out the room. Only Bakugo and Kirishima had actually seen his hair. Izuku had been shielded from his classmates sight by paramedics during the ordeal.
"Pft! Haha! Midoriya what did you do to your hair?" Mineta burst out laughing, but not everyone followed. They had a feeling it wasn't a choice. This seemed to be the last straw for Izuku.
"I-i'm sorry. I c-can't do this." His tears were falling at this point. Green sparks danced around the boy as he ran off. His black beanie falling off as he left. They watched their snowy haired classmate run off.
Bakugo growled at his class. "You guys don't think there was a reason he didn't want to say anything about the sex thing?! And PERV! That was a dick move. I swear I'd blow you off the face of this damn earth, but you're not worth getting expelled over." He stormed out of the room, leaving the class to think.
It was quiet for awhile. "Y-you guys don't think Midoriya was......" Ururaka trailed off. Not wanting her fears to be true.
"I think- I think he w-was." Jiro said softly. The class sat in silence. Some cried over the grim reality of their friend. After a few minutes, Bakugo walked back into the room staring daggers at the others.
"You numbskulls figure it out yet?" There were small nods among them.
"Bakugo." Kirishima looked up, his eyes were watery. "D-did you know about that?" The blondes expression changed from anger to sadness. He shook his head slowly and sat down at the edge of the group.
"So.... what actually happened to Midoriya? You know, don't you?" Todoroki looked at Bakugo. The two didn't like each other, but they both cared for the boy and they knew that. Bakugo nodded to this question.
He let out a defeated sigh. "Look, I don't know the whole story, but what I do know... it- it isn't pretty stuff." His voice waivered as he tried to hold back tears. "I'm not going to tell you guys everything. That's Izuku's right, but you should know he hasn't had the same life. He is finally free to do the things we take for granted. He's finally able to look at the fucking sky again for Christ's sake." His voice cracked, remembering back to their moment in the grass. The other students remembered back to moments were they saw the formerly green haired boy gazing out the window with wonder filling his eyes. Or memories where he seemed to almost fanboy about having outdoor training.
The blonde sighed again and stood up. "We should get to bed anyway. Like Eye bags said, we can't be late if you extra's don't want a curfew." He spun on his heel and walked to his room.
The rest slowly cleaned up and filed out as well. No one said much that night aside from the soft 'goodnights' as they closed their respective doors.
