Jaemin felt like a complete idiot. Late realization maybe.
He stood there in front of the door of his and Jeno's shared bedroom, listening to the cries the younger tried to silence.
He was trying to recall those moments, attending the party, getting drunk, sleeping with someone, pretending like nothing happened and left, hanging out with some chick who approached him at his locker.
God, how did he forget majority of those times? Especially with the part of him sleeping with Lee Jeno. Coincidentally his supposed-fiancè right now.
He was disappointed at himself for not knowing sooner, and maybe a bit angry at Jeno for not telling him anyway.
But after further thinking, he had come to realized that the younger was probably too stressed out and scared, that he decided to not even let the father of their baby know about his pregnancy.
So he stood there, waiting for Jeno's breakdown to subside before he actually enters the room. He doesn't want to cause more towards the younger after all.
He also doesn't want them screaming at each other or add more fuel to the fire. And he sure hopes that this argument won't reach out to their parents.
He couldn't help but think, why didn't he talk to Jeno after the party too?
He woke up and saw who he was in bed with, right?
Why didn't his past self do anything and instead pretended that nothing happened?
Why did he do that where his actions had resulted his fiancè to hate him, push him away from himself and their child, made their "relationship" like this?
Why was he so careless?
He shook of his thoughts for now, hearing Jeno's cries turn into soft whimpers and sniffles, a few coughs echoed here and there, he pursed his lips and twists the doorknob.
Jeno had his back turned, facing their huge window in the room as he stared off with his shoulders shaking whenever he hiccups.
Jaemin approaches him slowly, hesitating to place his hand on his fiancè's shoulder, reaching just a bit before retracting it and lets it fall onto his side.
"I'm sorry." He said, testing the waters. It feels shallow, but he can feel the wave coming in.
A small chuckle was heard, very forced as Jeno croaks out. "Now you are. But before you weren't."
"Because I didn't know." Jaemin tries to defend himself.
"Knew it or not, you didn't do shit after that party. You didn't wait for me to wake up, didn't leave me a note, didn't talk to me, didn't do anything." Jeno ranted with his voice cracking.
He paused to change his tone, still stern and angry, but is more into a harsh whisper. "You don't care. You're not sorry."
He stands up and walks towards the bathroom, avoiding eye contact with him, because if he tries, he'll breakdown again.
Just by seeing Jisung's father who did nothing but left him alone instead of doing something.
Jaemin watches him, shutting the door closed and hearing the water in the bathtub running, assuming Jeno is going to have his time alone there in the moment.
He guesses it's how he copes with these situations, running a bath to cool himself off, having his time of training thoughts while he can just sit there.
After a beat, he began to cuss himself silently. Curse his past self, even more curse to his current self.
Why didn't he do anything, again?
Why did he just let Jeno stand up and leave?
Why did he let their conversation end just like that, right there?
Why didn't he say more? Make a whole ass speech of apology towards his fiancè.
What he's more mad about, is why did he let Jeno cry. Because of him.
It might come to as a shock for others if they ever heard about this, but he deeply cares and likes Jeno.
The moment they entered the meeting room, met eyes, remember a little bit of each other (unfortunately for Jeno's part.) He got those tingly feelings.
He just had a few urges going through him whenever it's about his fiancè, even if the boy is cussing him out, pushing him away, angry at him, hate him, and etcetera.
And when he was told Jisung is his son. He was so grateful.
His only problem is, is to get Jeno warm up to him.
That is a work in progress. Just like their parents told them about.
He sighs to himself, listening to the running waters from the bathroom while he was contemplating if he should wait for the younger or not.
His thoughts were interrupted when their doorbell rang, at the same time receiving a message from his mom that they're waiting outside.
He pulls the big curtains down to cover their windows and walks out of the room, and just as he closes the door for the sake of Jeno's privacy, he heard their bathroom door open. Perfect timing Na Jaemin.
Pursing his lips, he accepts the door to see a sleeping Jisung in Mrs. Na's arms, the woman smiling so widely with Mrs. Lee by her side holding onto Jisung's baby bag.
"Look, honey! I'm carrying my grandson!" Mrs. Na whispered excitedly, biting her lips to contain her loud squeals that would probably disturb Jisung's nap.
Jaemin shows off a small smile towards his mother, Mrs. Lee brushing Jisung's messy hair as she smiles at him. "He ran all around the store and wasted his energy." She said.
"Why don't you take him to bed? Where's Jeno?" Mrs. Lee asks with a brow raised.
As if on cue, Jeno appears beside Jaemin who was about to say some excuse like he was tired too, like papa like son.
"I'll take him, thank you mother and mother-in-law." He said gratefully, reaching his arms out towards Jisung as Mrs. Na hands the boy over. He ignores the small sadness in his mother's eyes.
He holds the little boy tightly in his arms, cradling his head to lead it towards his shoulder as he pecks Jisung's crown.
"It's no worry, dear. And please, call me mom too, we're family now." Mrs. Na waves off with a giggle.
Jeno smiles at her with a small nod, gently bouncing Jisung in his arms to help him sleep more, the little boy humming in his slumber and nuzzling his nose against his papa's neck, feeling content.
"Why are your eyes puffy, honey? Did something happened?" Mrs. Lee spoke up, eyeing her son's stressed out face.
"Oh, we were just watching a small sad movie together, my sweetheart couldn't help but cry at the scenes." Jaemin had said, coming up with a quick and easy lie.
Jeno hums with his lips tight when his mother eyes them both weirdly. "I'm fine now." He mumbles. Trying to shake off that weird feeling about Jaemin lying for his sanity.
Stop it Na– Lee Jeno. Urgh.
Mrs. Lee blinks and nods, handing Jaemin the baby bag since Jeno was already occupied, "we'll be heading off now, goodnight."
They just waved at her and mumbled a small 'goodnight and drive safe' back, Mrs. Na pecking them on the cheek as farewell. "See you later on the wedding planning."
Closing the door, Jaemin was about to offer some help like always, but remembered the situation and rising tension they were in.
So he watches Jeno walk into Jisung's bedroom to tuck him into bed, deciding to head to their own bedroom in the meantime to get ready to go to sleep as well.
He was going through his laptop, sitting on the small desk table near the bed as he quickly reads some business emails for their company with his glasses perched up on his nose.
Hearing the door open, he looks behind him to see Jeno immediately tuck himself under their covers, covering up to his head with his figure turned against him.
He sighs, chewing the inside of his cheek and mumbles out, "goodnight, sweetheart. I'm sorry, again." And he knows Jeno heard him, he was not asleep just yet judging by the huff he received.
