What the!?

Yes, that's exactly what it was, a ugly woman with giant bat wings. She was crouched on the top of the counter screeching. A woman came out, scream, and dropped a glass. I was too scared to move.

"What is that thing?!" Leo seemed just as panicked as me, but Nico was on the floor crying and holding his head, rocking back and forth.

"Not again, not again!" he whimpered, petrified.

"This happened before!?" I screamed as the thing flew towards us. We dove out of the way just in time for it to fly past us threw the window. A piece of glass hit the side of my head and then everything started to go black. I could hear only muffled noises.Leo was shaking me, crying, and yelling my name.

"Rachel, please Rachel. Don't die!" He screamed. Die?! I felt totally peaceful and perfectly fine, but everything was blackening around the corners of my eyes and I could barely hear. Why didn't the thing come back? Did it just leave? Then everything went totally black.

I dreamed of owls, thousands of owls that were just flying around me forming a tornado. I was lifted up into the darkness of the storm. My dream didn't make any sense, and it felt like 2 minutes had gone past, then I woke up.

I still had my eyes closed while I thought about the weird dream I had about the owls. Then I remembered the winged creature. I thought that part was a dream. It seemed so real, but no, nothing like that could ever be real.

When my eyes opened, they met a bright light. My head seared in pain and I groaned.

The figures above me started talking. They all were boys about my age. They were shoving each other, arguing.

"She's waking up!"

"I'm gonna talk to her." one said smoothing his hair.

"No, I get to talk to her first!"

"No, I saw her first! MOVE!" Were they fighting over me? Then a taller figure shoved past the smaller boys, waving them off.

"Rachel?" It was Leo. My eyes cleared and I looked up. He had tears streaming down his face." Oh, Rachel." he said hugging me, "I thought I lost you."

"Leo?" my voice croaked," wh...what happened?" I looked around the room I was in. It was more like a tent than a room. There was beds all around me like the one I was laying on and there were people rushing around to different beds treating the people on the beds. It almost looked like a medical tent from the Civil War, but it was huge. there were weird looking yellow cubes on the table beside me that looked like cheese and a drink that looked like.... apple juice? I held my head and groaned. I looked back at Leo.

"What happened?" I said. I had so many questions.

"When that thing attacked us and went through the window, Chiron...," he said as he gestured to a man in a wheelchair, "killed it, saving our lives."

"So it wasn't a dream." I paused, shocked. And looking at the man in the wheelchair, i was confused that he had killed and saved us from that thing...and was in a wheelchair!

"After it crashed through the window, a piece of glass hit your head and cut you really badly." he sounded worried. "Chiron brought us to this camp and showed me everything while you were asleep."

"How long was I out?" I asked, thinking it was only a few hours.

"A whole week and a half." he told me.

"A WEEK?!" I was out that whole time? My dream had only lasted seconds!

"...and a half" Leo corrected as he leaned back expecting me to yell again. Ok, let me get this straight. I was attacked by a winged women, then blacked out for a WEEK AND A HALF and put in this random camp. I also found out that I was saved by an old guy in a wheelchair! That just about made my day.

"What was that thing anyway?" I said stopping the silence.

"A fury." said Chiron as he wheeled up to my bed. "They are very dangerous,"

"Oh, no really?" I said sarcastically as I pointed to my head, bandaged up and pounding with pain.

"I am sorry, I haven't introduced myself properly." he said changing the subject. "I am Chiron, and this is Camp Half-blood!" Chiron said dramatically. He gestured to all around him and lifted his head proudly. He then noticed that he was gesturing to the walls of the tent and put his hands on his lap.

"I am usually in my other form when I do that. And it's way more dramatic outside." he explain as he rolled himself back embarrassed.

"Other form?" I asked, totally confused.

"Oh ya, about that..." Leo said. He looked as if he was the person asked to break bad news on to someone.

"Do you remember that Greek Mythology class that we took last year?" he said as I grew suspicious.

"Yea, why?"

"It is all real." Leo blurted out.
