Camp
"What are you talking about?" I said trying to understand what he was trying to say.
"It is all real." he sounded really convincing. "The Greek Gods, monsters, and even the Demigods."
"No this can't be real. It's a dream. It's a dream." I leaned back in my bed and held my head.
"I know that's what I thought when I found out," Leo wasn't doing a very good job of breaking this to me slowly, but I refused to freak out.
"Um, ok so I have a godly parent? That means I am not an orphan!" I assumed it was my dad since I had remembered my mom so well. And she was not a goddess.
"Yes, they call the sons and daughters of gods and mortals, Demigods." Leo explained with an easy tone.
"So who is my godly parent?" I thought about who it could be. It could be Ares because I got really good at the fights I got into at school. Or Poseidon. The more I thought about it the more it seemed to make sense. After all I was the captain of my swim team.
"I don't know, usually demigods get claimed when they get to camp, but nothing happened to you," Leo said disappointed.
"Wait, so you were claimed already?" I thought about who his dad could be. Probably Hephaestus, because he always seemed to be at least a little grimy and he always liked building things.
"Ya, my dad is Hephaestus." Leo seemed excited about the whole concept, but I was not sure if I was ready.
"OK, listen up!" Chiron interrupted, "We have dinner in a few and I don't want you two to be late, and after that... camp-fire!"
"Ugh, do we have too," Leo was about to whine like a baby, "I mean... Rachel needs some rest and I think I should show her around." He totally saved it. (Sarcasm.)
"Uh, Leo, I think I should eat. Remember I was asleep for a week and a half," I was actually really hungry. (of course they fed me while I was asleep too)
"Ya, you're probably right," Leo helped me up of the bed and led me out of the tent.
The sight and the smell overwhelmed me. Arrows whizzed passed my face, kids of all ages climbing and fighting. The smell was a mixture of burnt metal and perfume for some reason. There were all kinds of appearances. Clean and beautiful, grimy and silly, sleepy, serious, dark and mysterious. I was sort of stunned at the size of the camp.I was still trying to get used to whole idea of it. And guess what I did right there, right after I had acted so under control. I fainted! Out of all things to do. I didn't get sick or stumble. I fainted. Again, Leo caught me and we went right back into the tent. Great. That was just a awesome first impression! Wasn't it?
*******The next day*********
"Hey Rach?" Leo was hovering over me as I woke up for the second time, "You ok?"
"Ya Ya, I fine," I was so embarrassed, "I don't know why I did that." I sat up and reached for the food on my side table.
"You might not want to do that," Leo warned.
"Why not?" I put the food back down.
"You have had too much already and if you eat any more you might... spontaneously combust" Leo explained.
"Excuse me!" I was shocked, "Is that one of your fat jokes!"
"NO!" He reacted shamefully, " No, that is what will actually happen"
"Oh!" I was now officially scared of the orange food.
"You were out for a day," Leo announced, changing the subject.
"Really? Did I miss anything important?" I had missed the campfire the other day and Chiron sounded like it was important.
"A new prophecy was told," Leo sounded like it was nothing.
"Really? that must be big,"
"I don't know, probably," Leo stood and held out hand to me. "Do you want to try this again?"
"Ya, sure," I took his hand, but I felt awkward holding it. His hand felt strong and firm yet gentle and kind. He help me up and we walked out of the tent for a second go.
This time the smell and sights were stronger. It seemed like more kids bigger camp. And there were lots more smells I didn't even recognize. I felt my body drifting but I kept walking and shook it off.
"Lets go get you some real food," Leo read my mind, I was starving.
"Yes, food please," We walked to the mess hall and sat by a girl with brown hair like mine and a boy with blonde hair. Everyone was loud, freaking out, and gossiping about something. I guess it's normal.
"Rachel, this is Jason and Piper," Leo introduced me to the boy that was sitting in front of me. He was tall and muscular like a blonde super man and his eyes were the brightest blue color i had ever seen. The girl was my height and had eyes that were....uh.. I couldn't tell, but they were beautiful.
I noticed I was just looking at the boy for some reason and snapped out of it
"So, Leo," Jason broke the short silence," I got chosen for a quest. It sucks you missed it."
"Seriously, that so cool," Leo responded excitedly, " What do you have to do?"
Piper interrupted Jason before he could speak,"It is really unbelievable,"
"Ya, the whole Aphrodite cabin disappeared. We think it might be a prank. Aslo I dont think Drew would go along with this prank so we are guessing they were taken or something"
"Yikes," Leo was stunned.
"Who's going?" I was anxious for some reason.
"Me and Piper, so far,"
