It seemed that once the coordinates were locked into the ship, it didn't actually need constant piloting. Elizabeth pushed herself out of the chair and looked to where Alma still stood, David's head still carefully held against herself, under her arm. Honestly, out of all people, she didn't quite see herself ending up with them. That wasn't to say she wasn't pleased she had company. Because she was, the thought of being on her own made her stomach turn.
It seemed by the light thankful look on Alma's face, she felt the same. She was both glad and relieved that someone else had survived, and that really it was Elizabeth. Looking downwards she sighed, "Come on, you. Let's see if we can fix you up, hm?"
"I would appreciate that hugely." David responded while only just being able to look up at her.
"Yes, I can't imagine just being a head is much fun." Alma commented while walking up the stairs.
"That is most rude of you." He said while she grinned down at him. "Have you got a concussion?"
"Why? Because I am asking something blatantly obvious?"
"Mainly, yes." David affirmed and looked around the corridor, Alma had flicked the torch on and illuminated the way. The corridor stretched on, dark, and gloomy. The small yellow light of the torch honestly didn't light up much. "Are you hurt?" He asked after a few moments of silence. He looked down when a form on the floor came into the torch light. He recognised the frozen figure, the blue suit with silver like blood flickered on it, it was his body. He frowned, he couldn't help it, he didn't appreciate it just being dumped back here.
"No, no," Alma said quietly while looking to Elizabeth, "Are you hurt?" David managed to somewhat turn his head and look up at the auburn haired woman. Honestly, he didn't even know she was following them. It made sense, he supposed, Alma wouldn't be able to carry his body by herself. She would need help, Elizabeth was that help.
"No, no worse than you." Elizabeth replied, be fair both of them were hurt, just in different ways. She picked up the body under the arms while Alma placed David back within the bag which had been left with his body. He frowned, she smiled apologetically, zipped up the bag and put it over her shoulder. Crouching, she grasped onto his ankles, and together they managed to pick the body up and walk off down the corridor.
It was slow going, they hadn't explored all of the other ship so they didn't know which rooms led to where. An exploration would be needed, once changed and sorted out. Alma for one had a cut on her temple which needed cleaning up and looked over. Alma paused and awkwardly managed to shine the torch into a room, with a look back at Elizabeth, who gave a nod, she turned and walked within. Both females jumped slightly when a dim white light flickered into life.
It made sense, now that the computer system was back into working order, the ships internal lighting system would start to work too. It seemed though through many years of being inactive, it was taking a while. The corridors still were without light, but small rooms seemed to have some form or another. The room they entered was simple, there wasn't exactly anything in here, dark walls, and equally just a dark space. There was a table in the room though, and they both wasted no time in placing David's body on it.
Noticing another table, Alma walked over and placed the bag down. Opening it up she peered within, only to see David's unamused expression. "Stop looking so grumpy, you'll be back together soon, I promise." She said quietly while smiling lightly and picking him up. He smiled widely at that, he didn't need to be told. He knew he would eventually be reunited with his body. He just knew that firstly he would have to lay and look at the pathetic state of it first. And it did look a state, he couldn't help but be a little depressed over that.
Around his neck was jagged torn skin, or at least synthetic skin. Tubes, wires, cables, the lot could be seen spewing from the wound. From these slowly trickled blood, silver and shining in the dim lighting of the room. His limbs were locked up, and every so often his legs would strangely give a twitch. He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, he did look a bit of a mess. He looked slowly back up at Alma though as she pulled things from the bag, luckily enough she didn't need to run back to the other bags. The tools within here would do the job of fixing him up, hopefully unless there was any major damage.
She had a transfixed serious look on her face as she laid the tools down and then took to unzipping her suit. She pulled her arms free, rolled it down and tied the arms around her waist. Straightening out the grey vest underneath, she sighed and looked up at the ceiling before looking back down. David had remained looking at her, she seemed so serious, so lost in this moment, she gave him a reassuring smile though. Even if the look did appear a little fractured. David blinked, she was worried, scared, concerned, all of those emotions. He could understand why, but really she shouldn't try and feign feelings to make him feel better about the situation.
Picking up scissors, Alma turned and looked to where Elizabeth was looking at the body. Her hand was over her mouth, a finger tapping on her cheek. She didn't know robotics. This was something completely unknown to her. Her dark eyes looked up at Alma, "What are those for?"
Alma cast a look over her shoulder to where David sat curiously looking on. "Sorry." She said to him and then looked to Elizabeth. "We're going to need to cut him from his suit. I need to see if there's any deep seated problems."
"Like?"
"Spinal problems?" Alma mused off the top of her head. If his spine was severely damaged, then they were in trouble. Placing the scissors on the table, she grabbed onto one of his arms. The still twitching nerves made the limb shudder in her grasp. With a wince she pushed and pulled and eventually snapped his arm down. Even Elizabeth winced at that.
"Did you just break his arm?" She couldn't help but ask, it honestly looked it.
"No, there's sensors here, just...they're tricky to get to."
"How do you know that?"
"Because," Alma leaned across and did the same with the other arm. Cutting him free would be easier if his arms were by his side. "I helped make him," her eyes flicked up. Elizabeth looked at her with a confused yet hard look. "Well, not the very first original David, obviously. I mean, I was still in schooling when that happened, but this one..." Alma trailed off with a sigh.
"I didn't know."
"It isn't something I typically go around broadcasting."
"Why?" Elizabeth asked curiously while helping her sit the headless body up to pull the suit down. Keeping the shredded material around his waist, Alma took to cutting the material around his arms, she really just cut the arms off and threw the material over her shoulder.
"Because not everyone is comfortable with androids and synthetics as it is. Let alone whoever brings them online." Alma walked around and looked at the entry wound. She hummed and ran a finger around it, there didn't seem to be any sign of spinal problems as she suspected, it wasn't protruding from his back. In fact she could see the main structure of it, just with a jagged end where his head obviously came off. "I crossed paths with people who thought I was going to be just like them. Did you know that before David, other units were just...robotic? Blank, void of emotions and understanding. Ask it to jump and it wouldn't ask how high, it'd just jump. They were literally built to follow us around, to listen to our every command and whim. Like...that's slavery, that sounds like a horrific way of life. But, because that is how they were, people presumed that I would be much the same. Sure, I have moments of stoicism, who doesn't? But I am really not like the things I help make. Well, that's a lie, I think we can all relate to each other in some small way." Alma explained simply while pulling at wires and clamping them to stop them from leaking more silver blood over the place. Already her hands were covered in the stuff. Elizabeth just stood nearby watching as she worked and talked, David remained silent and watched as she carefully treated his body as if it was going to break more than it already had. "Not only that, people immediately seemed to believe that because I helped that I would have like an army because I would end up understanding them more than humanity. There's no us or them mentality. We are all together. Hold this, thanks," Alma shrugged and gave Elizabeth something to grasp onto, she looked at the bundle of cables with a confused look. "You always get that one idiot who asks what spending every waking day with the robots is like, robots...end up correcting them and they get right pissy. Right, up we go, are you ready?" Alma asked while picking David up from his table. He nodded awkwardly with a smile.
"Yes, thank you." He said while being put down on the table. He could just about move and see his body being laid down.
"You might feel...something, David."
"Pain?" Elizabeth asked confused while Alma leaned away from the table and looked to her.
"Something akin to it, yes. Mild electroshocks to us, but to him it might feel a bit more," Alma said while picking up two little blowtorch like items. She held one out to Elizabeth, who looked from it, to the wires still in her grasp. "Oh, you can let go of them. You didn't need to hold them anyway, I just thought you'd like to feel a bit more involved." She laughed awkwardly while Elizabeth looked at her with a frown. "If it does...you know, hurt, can you let me know?" Alma asked while David blinked quickly a few times and just nodded, or tried to again. Elizabeth just looked from her to the android and back again. Honestly, she hadn't come across someone who had treated an android as if they were human. Despite her earlier words, Elizabeth couldn't quite help but think there was a double meaning to them somewhere.
