" did ya miss me? "
status : unknown
Hye-rim stood up, bones creaking as she grunted, lifting her long arms to stretch. Her soft features hardened at the thought of being at camp under the overbearing summer heat for 2 whole weeks. Actually, a little more than just two weeks. Still, it was much better than being stuck at home, at the abyss of her little apartment, dark and musty. She hated being there, alone in the dark. Even the alleyways brought a little more peace and comfort. Still, the girl's ultimate goal was yet to be reached. The mere thought of finding true happiness and friendship had immediately dragged her to register for this sorry excuse of a camp and she had done it with absolutely no hesitance. Indeed, it would be a great opportunity for a real chance to be normal. Normal. She didn't know what normal meant anymore.
Flashes of the night plagued her mind like a never-ending dream sequence. It was an unchangeable television screen, playing every night. Every single horrifying detail coming back to life. Why did the matters of the heart have to be so complicated?
"Happy anniversary mom! Happy anniversary dad!" the young girl giggled happily, laughter bubbling through her throat as her parents gobbled down the amazing dinner she had prepared. The lights inside the house glowed with warmth, atmosphere lively as her parents celebrated, faces adorned with smiles that would engrave themselves in the young girl's memoirs for a lifetime.....for better or worse.
"Why don't you go get us some water, sweetheart?" her mother had suggested, eyes alight with pure joy and bliss. The girl immediately stood up, nodding excitedly as her feet padded along the carpeted floor, excitement boiling through her veins.
She had prepared drinks for the family, sweet mocktails that contained flavours of all kinds. Just that morning, the young girl had memorised the recipe from the internet by heart. Reciting the names of all the fruits and ingredients came by with ease now as she stirred the concoction with white gloved hands, humming a little tune and swaying her hips as she did so. Long charcoal black hair as dark as the night itself swayed with her hips, accompanying their own little tune.
"Oh, what is this?" she muttered lowly to herself, eyebrows furrowing as she tried reading the words on the bottle. She didn't remember buying this but it should be safe, seeing as how it was placed on the kitchen counter. Shrugging, she the little girl poured the liquid in without a second thought, thoughts innocent and naive as she began mixing once more. She cooed as the liquid turned a beautiful galaxy purple along with the orange and red colour of the juices. It created a galaxy-like canvas and she marvelled at how beautiful it all looked. Smiling giddily, the girl lifted the large pot and dunked the liquid in two cups. She took off her gloves and threw them away, feet creating a fast-paced rhythm as she headed back to the dining room.
"And what do we have here?" her father asked in that low mellow voice of his. It brought a warm and safe feeling to the girl and she smiled, waving her hand impatiently to her parents to taste the drink. Her parents took the liquid in with no hesitance, all at once.
And that was the last time she heard their laughter.
Or any laughter in the household for that matter.
Hye-rim still remembered their eyes bulging, throats gasping in horror as they stumbled backwards and landed on the floor. She remembered how tears had escaped her mother's eyes, face transforming to the same shade of purple as the liquid she had poured in along with the drink. Dishwasher.
"It was suicide. Obviously the parents had some sort of financial difficulty of some sort and they decided to kill themselves. Poor girl. Large pot of drink and another cup. Thank goodness she didn't drink it as well."
Oh if only they knew.
"Hye hye?" she could recognise that voice anywhere in the world. Two muscular arms enveloped her as warm breaths began to fan her face from the side. Broad shoulders came into view, wrapping around her small structure like a cape, immediately betraying his identity.
"Jin." she replied nonchalantly, turning around and putting on an adoring smile. Her cold persona melted as she took in the sight of her loved one after so long, after days of 'busy' nights. With matching sharp eyes and plush lips, they were magnets that naturally gravitated towrads each other. His hair had grown a little bit, black and wavy - a thick tuft of comfort. Hers was now tightly curled and slightly frizzy, a light brown shade of caramel. It had been so long since she last laid her eyes on her beloved, so long since she had been hugged like that, experienced skinship. And she had to admit : she did miss the feeling of euphoria.
The boy failed to utter any words as his body collapsed onto hers once more, grip tightening around her waist and back as he closed the gap between them, face moving to nuzzle itself into her neck. She was beautiful, like she always was. Everything around her screamed beautiful ; her feisty character, that glowing ember of courage in her eyes that never faded the least bit, that husky voice, low and deep and viscous like honey with a little roughness that reminded him of sandpaper and those features. Those cute mono-lidded eyes that scrunched up to mini crescents when she laughed with a cute button nose that paired so well with those adorable baby pink lips. He missed her so much.
Meanwhile, Hye-rim had hesitantly let her hand dance over to his back, fingers ghosting the translucent white fabric that hung loosely around his body but clung tightly to his shoulders. She had missed him as well.
But there was something greater that had led her to avoid him in the first place.
It was his possessiveness.
