adalie kim

" all men do is lie. "

status : unknown

Adalie let out a heavy sigh, running a hand through her hair and swishing the short strands past her shoulder, the raven black bob absorbing all forms of light and pairing perfectly with the darkness in her gaze, eyes fierce with anger and frustration. What was she doing here? It was certainly not out of her own will.

"You will go to the camp and socialize like a normal teenager or else," the old man gritted his teeth, forehead creasing as his mouth formed into a familiar frown of uneasiness, "I will tear down that despicable dance studio of yours and burn it to the ground. Mark my words, Adalie."

Scoffing, the girl marched forwards, the heels of her tall leather boots clicking on the floor as she flailed her arms in protest, "You can't control me, father. This is insane. What have I done to deserve this? I've gotten everything you wanted, good grades. Heck, I even married the guy you set me up with willingly without any sort of protest. And now, you're using the dance studio that I built up with my own two hands WITHOUT any sort of help from my lovely parents as blackmail for a school camp?" her eyes filled with a familiar fire of rebellion, fists clenching as the knuckles on her hand turned a ghostly white.

The old man did nothing except stand up, the rage in his electric blue eyes matching his own daughter's coal black ones, "And yet, my daughter is known in the society as a drunkard who is disrespectful, unsociable and a disappointment to the family name and reputation!" he yelled, slamming his palm on the wooden office table, "You will do as I say, Adalie. Or you will face the consequences!"

The leaves rustled above her, creating a symphony of nature that soothed her for the time-being and caused her thoughts to fly away like birds from a nest. Sure, the atmosphere could create a sense of relaxation for her but it did nothing to assist in the troubles of her daily life : a menacing father who could never understand her, a mother who didn't seem to care and a husband who caused all sorts of feelings to rise from her gut and bubble through her thoughts.

"Ada?" the voice halted her train of thought and caused her head to snap up automatically, meeting the eyes of her "beloved" all clad in a blue polo shirt, neat ironed iron grey jeans and a pair of spectacles resting elegantly on her nose. His eyes widened as she met his gaze and he shuffled backwards a little, turning abruptly and merely brushing her shoulder with his as he strode away from her, never looking back.

The girl scoffed, crossing her arms and scrunching her nose. Sure, he was her husband, but what did she expect? Love? Affection? Kisses? Cuddles? Hugs? The man was a cold and calculative being, professional both in and out of the house, with boundaries and walls that no person could pass, not even his wife or family. He had his own reasons, that she knew, but he wasn't the only one that had a troubled past and had no right to act this way around her after kissing her most every night and leaving her breathless. It was just so hard to comprehend the true meaning of his actions ; if they were merely out of lust, or maybe even responsibility, feeling the need to at least pleasure his wife every once in a while to be a dutiful husband. Mind swirling with irrelevant thoughts, she sat herself back down on the bench, harshly putting on a pair of white beats earphones and closing her eyes to the music that played in the background.

Meanwhile, the man was hiding behind a pillar, chest lifting and resting as he tried to calm himself. What was she doing here? She certainly wasn't a camp person, athletic but definitely not sociable for a school camp of any sort. Was she forced by her parents as well, such as he was? Huffing, he rested himself, not wanting his uncertainty to be seen by her as a weakness and certainly not wanting to be seen by any of the other students with a woman. A woman such as her as well would certainly damage his reputation.

Adjusting the glasses that laid on the bridge of his nose, he continued walking as far away as he could from her.

The shadow scuffled away after a good two minutes, back broad as he scooted away, seeming to want to hide himself. Adalie couldn't help but let out a low chuckle, seeing the man scoot away so quickly.

"Ah, Mr. Kim, still not wanting to be seen around women, I see," she muttered sadly to herself, eyes fluttering as she noticed two birds resting in a tree, cuddling close to each other as their feathers touched, "Kim Namjoon. What are we even?"
