Part 5

It took several days to come up with a plan, and the two cousins made one in secret. They didn't want any grown-ups to overhear, for they could easily interfere and shut it down.

Planning a kidnapping but not really was harder than expected. Every plan the cousins came up with ended up with them getting caught or dying.

"Maybe we could sneak past the guards and jump out of a window after we have Immi," Vigor suggested as he shrugged.

"Maybe, but we'd need a rope or something," Alana pointed out, "Plus that doesn't explain how to get to Immi... sorry."

"No, you're fine. The plan was flawed anyway. This is tougher than we thought." Vigor started pacing the room.

They sat in silence for an endless moment.

"Don't you think it's weird how she just brought it up like that?" Alana asked out of the blue.

"Brought what up?"

"How she's never been there before. It's like 'Hi, I'm Immi, and oh-by-the-way I have a secret skill that prevents me from socializing. Please get me out of my nice house away from all my fancy noble stuff.' What if it's a trap or something?"

Vigor sighed. "I'm sure it's not. As Immi said, she's never been outside before, so maybe she doesn't know how to talk to people. I trust her."

"Okay... Fine. I guess that makes sense."

"C'mon, let's get back to planning."

Finally, after a lot of talking and strategizing, they concluded. Alana would teleport them into the house and using Vigor's good sense of direction, they would find Immi and get out.

They hadn't planned beyond that, not to mention where they would go afterward.

"We'll just play it by ear," Vigor said.

Of course, he had all these worries and a million reasons for how it could go wrong. He was always overprotective of anyone he cared about, so it was like him to do so. Though all it took was a little convincing, he was eventually okay with it.

And it did go okay at first. They planned their heist to take place in two days, so Alana could get some practice in using her skill. It went well, and she thought she was getting the hang of it, although she was a little unstable when she tried to teleport with Vigor alongside her.

Alana just hoped the practice would come in handy when they needed it.

Finally, the day rolled around after what seemed like forever.

A friend went to distract the parents and wished the duo luck as they locked themselves in Alana's room. They were nervous, but granted, who wouldn't be?

"So, I guess we need to do this already and stop stalling," Vigor stated.

"Yeah, I guess," Alana said.

She took his hand. People who could teleport needed physical contact to take others with them. An image of the stone house filled her brain, and Alana squeezed her eyes shut as she could feel the setting change.
