Day after day he watched her. He was her best friend, and she his. Though each day he thought, "Today, I will tell her of the love I feel for her." He thought of her smile and of how she walked. He absolutely loved everything about her. 

That day it was it, the day he had to tell her. Coincidently one of their other friends decided to ask someone out. Obviously, they accepted. He watched her take in the news of the new relationship. She turned to him suddenly, "I am forever alone!" 

He laughed. "You will have me."

 He sounded desperate, even to his own ears. She didn't pick up on it. She laid her head against his shoulder. Instinctively he put his hand around her. She continued to be upset for the rest of the day. Finally when he planned to tell her; he simply decided against it. Still thinking that it was the wrong time to tell her. Over the course of the next two weeks slowly each of their friends begun to become couples. 

Slowly and very sadly he watched her lose what made her, herself. The next week she was so insecure that she had begun to wear sweat pants and baggy T-Shirts all the time. Normally she would've worn a pair of jeans and a nice shirt. Still, though, he loved her even more.  

She gave up on the idea of love. She lost the light in her eyes. He didn't understand why she was so upset. He tried to talk to her about it but, each time she shut him down or changed the subject. 

He stayed loyal, and silent beside her each day. She slowly started to rely on his company. She didn't talk to their other friends as much and kept by his side. 

Finally, he told her. She stayed silent. Listening. He kept his head down and talked fast. She had taken a deep breath when he finished. It sounded as if he had rehearsed the whole thing. And in fact, he had. He had spent every morning since seventh grade rehearsing the whole thing and then some. He had also rehearsed getting rejected. 

She wrapped him in a tight hug. She whispered into his ear, "I love you too.... You don't know how long I have been waiting to hear you say those words..."
