Chapter 47: Farewell

Sonja's POV:

I woke up on the carpet in front of my front door. Tucker stirred next to me.

RING RING

"Is that.. the phone?" Tucker said.

I glanced at the clock above our TV.

"It's three in the morning" I scrambled to my feet and moseyed over to the phone, picking it up reluctantly.

"Hello?" my voice sounded apprehensive to the person on the other end of the line.

"Sonja? It's Jordan" the raspy male voice said.

I rubbed my eyes, dazed from the unexpected call.

"Is something wrong?" I said, putting him on speaker.

"I have a problem that needs to be fixed and I can't wait longer. Need your advice" his voice quivered.

"What's wrong" Tucker was standing near me now, his face expressing worry.

"Over the past few months I have been realizing that YouTube has become a grueling job for me. It used to be fun and enjoyable and lovely but now it takes up my whole day. I'm constantly tired, I don't sleep, I don't eat well and I don't spend enough time with Erin. My life has been overtaken by work, work that I don't enjoy. I want to quit" he sobbed at the end of his speech.

My mouth fell open and so did Tucker.

"Jordan.. Your fans love you and they'll understand if you have to make less videos. Instead of quitting I suggest maybe making only one or two videos per week. But don't just leave" Tucker said, picking at something under his fingernail.

There was silence on Jordan's side of the call and then he heaved a sigh.

"I guess you're right. It wouldn't really be fair if I gave up. First thing in the morning I will make a video announcement and take a break for a week from YouTube" he said, obviously deep in thought.

"Sounds good. Do you need any more help?" Tucker asked, looking at the landline.

"I think I'm good. For now. Thanks guys, I really needed the support" he said, his voice quiet and thoughtful.

"Get some sleep Jordan, everything will fall into place" I said, picking up the phone from the table.

"Thanks Sonja. Bye" he hung up.

I put the phone back down into it's rightful place and looked at my husband.

"Welp. That happened" he forced out a chuckle.

"I can't help but feel bad because YouTube is supposed to be fun and it should never turn into a grueling premise" I said, putting my hair up into a ponytail.

"Let's get some more sleep"

~

The morning was gloomy and threatening to pour rain. I woke up, my eyes closing when I tried to get up.

"Tucker I'm tired" I turned to the other side of the bed but there was no one there. I trotted down the stairs, expecting him to be cooking breakfast. However, he was not. I looked through the glass door to the backyard and saw Tucker (just in a t-shirt I might add) was jumping around wildly on the trampoline.

"What are you doing?" I said, opening the backyard door and stepping out onto the cold bricks.

"It's going to rain" he said, spinning in the air, grinning widely.

"Perhaps. But that still doesn't explain anything" I laughed.

"I was tired and I had a good idea so I came out here to wake myself up" he said, breathing heavily every two words. He hopped up once more and then launched himself onto the ground. He landed with ease, prancing over to me.

"Come, I have a plan" he took my hand and lead me inside as little water droplets started to fall from the sky.

Tucker sat me down at the coffee table.

"I wanna throw Jordan a surprise party and I would like your help in arranging it" he said, a permanent smile plastered on his glowing face.

"Sounds good" I said, nodding at his intensity.

"So I was thinking Erin sends him out somewhere for a few hours. We all rush in set everything up and then when he's back, we hide and then surprise him. Yes?" he spoke really fast.

I kept nodding. It sounded like a really good plan.

"So. We know his favorite color is purple, his favorite type of muffin is lemon-poppyseed. We can just tell Erin and then we can go shopping" I said, picking up my iPhone.

I texted Erin, getting a quick reply from her.

"She says it's a great idea and will gladly assist with it" I told Tucker, reading the text message.

"Ask her when and where we should meet" he said, typing something in his phone too.

I typed the words into my phone and hit send.

"Target, tomorrow at eleven in the morning. She says Jordan has a meeting" I said, looking at Tucker.

"Sounds good" he grinned.

A/N: This chapter was a bit shorter. Hopefully the next one will be better. I'm also writing two one shots that will be published soon. So you should check out my one shot book *wink*
