"what's this movie about, again?"

"stupid deku picked the movie and since he projects his fucking feelings, it probably a romance with shitty heartbreak that leaves the pathetic character shattered or somethin' like that." bakugou said, not even bothering to glance up from his phone. he usually only went to movie nights thanks to kirishima- who always successfully dragged his boyfriend into the common room.

"no!" midoriya shouted in denial, clicking the movie and tossing the remote aside. he huffed, biting his lip- not quite being able to lie, "okay, maybe— but i've always liked these kinds of things! shouto— cuddle me, i'm cold!"

todoroki kept his gaze on the screen, but open his arms wide, willingly inviting midoriya to fall into his warm hold. "besides! it says comedy, so we should all get a good laugh!"

"i'm already laughing at how pathetic you are," came from bakugou and midoriya flushed. todoroki simply shook his head and focused on the screen- the character just came back from a date where he treated the girl like shit. and apparently it was to make some other dude look better.

"treat the girl like shit to make them go away and make them feel like shit to make them cum," sero repeated a line one of the main characters, tank, said and laughed. "that's so bakugou! and dustin is definitely midoriya- i mean look how awkward he is! five weeks and he already loves her!?"

midoriya groaned, probably regretting his choice in film.

throughout he movie, there had been laughs, a few 'oof' moments, a few eye-roll worthy moments, and multiple times todoroki had attempted to close midoriya's eyes because of the straight nudity that had been shown, while midoriya struggled against him. "i've seen all of this stuff many, many times, shouto! in movies and real life, please!"

now, todoroki didn't really know what was going on in the movie, as he'd been staring at his phone during the first half of it. but he kind of got the gist of the plot— dustin and his girlfriend of five weeks, alexis- broke up.

tank, which is apparently dustin's best friend, would help them get back together by dustin having him take alexis on the worst date ever and she'd run back to dustin. it worked, but alexis wanted to see other people, which threw dustin into a stage of depression and desperately trying to get alexis back and-

"no! what are they doing!?" todoroki heard kirishima yell, throwing popcorn at the screen. he looked up to see two characters were kissing or something, it didn't seem like a big deal. "tank, you asshole, get away from her! that's so fucking unmanly, jesus!"

bakugou snorted, shifting closer to his boyfriend, "this damn movie's finally getting good, at least."

todoroki looked at the screen before his eyes widened as he realized what everyone was fussing over. dustin's best friend, tank- was sleeping with alexis while dustin was actively trying to get her back.

wait a fucking minute-

todoroki stiffened and blinked a few times. what exactly was this movie, anyway?

"this isn't gonna end well at all..." sero shook his head, munching on a few chips. "i mean, dustin is literally plotting to get her back and thinking they're making progress, but alexis— oof, they're banging."

"god, what if dustin finds out? i mean, he obviously will, that's just how it goes, isn't it?"

"that's gonna suuuuck for tank. i mean, if tank even cares. he's such an ass. oh they're doing it again— wow, this is bad."

"izuku, what's this movie called?" todoroki whispered.

midoriya hummed, "my best fiend's girl," he answered. "i know it's really old, but isn't it good, too? i mean, i almost wanna close my eyes."

todoroki freezed. huh? what? my best friend's girl? wasn't that too much of a call out? and— midoriya said it was old and american film, not todoroki's current situation in a nutshell. he looked around at everyone's reaction to what was currently happening in the movie. everyone seemed against it. you had your legs pulled to your chest, biting your lip and eyes trained on the screen.

then he looked around the room for kaminari and jirou. kaminari, for once, wasn't commentating on the movie. he sat, staring at the screen, looking like something was on his mind. jirou was chewing on the inside of her cheek, same as kaminari. this wasn't good.

not in the slightest, in fact— todoroki began to internally panic, his stomach felt popping bubbles, he felt hot all around him. is that what midoriya would think of him if he ever found out? he'd call him an asshole? ...was he?

no no no, tank was an asshole in more ways than one. todoroki shook his head and continued watching the movie with more focus than before. after tears and breakdowns and making up, the movie was finally over and everyone was getting up to stretch their legs and- currently todoroki's least favorite par of movie night- discussing it afterwards. it was fairly heated this time around.

"maybe... maybe the situation's not as bad as it seems," kaminari mumbled as he stood up from his position. "i mean... you can't really help who you're attracted to, you know? the arrangement was mutual, too... he knew he made a mistake, but-"

"not you defending tank!" mina slapped a hand over her mouth and shook her head. "denks, that was pretty awful, to be honest. he apologized and stuff, but right when that was happening- he could've at least waited."

"i'm just saying!" kaminari shrugged. "why can't people sleep with other people who aren't in a relationship? it doesn't make sense. alexis was single and so was tank- and it wasn't even a relationship when dustin found out, it was literally just hooking up. no feelings that dustin even had to worry about!"

mina rolled her eyes, "mans really doesn't get it- it's not something you do to a friend, denki!" she tried to explain. "if you wanna do something, but you know it'll hurt your friend by doing so, that's enough reason not to do it."

"but your personal sex and love life have nothing to do with your friends. they're your feelings. why should you stop seeing someone who makes you happy for the sake of someone else who can't even have the person, anyway? so now you both have to be depressed?"

mina groaned, waving her hand and cleaning up the dishes like she'd given up on the argument.

"okay, fine. then let's take real feelings and situations into account," shinsou sighed, "denki, how would you feel if sero started hooking up with me behind your back?"

kaminari paused and groaned almost exasperatedly. "why does this even... okay, i wouldn't feel the best about it. but technically, he wouldn't be doing anything wrong? we're broken up anyway, so why would it matter what you're doing with who?"

shinsou rolled his dark, tired eyes, "but what about what sero's doing with me? knowing you're still pining after me- he does it anyway. you're telling me you wouldn't feel even just a little bit of that trust and honesty between the two of you waver? what if right now, sero tells you we've been sleeping with each other since our breakup."

"well, i—" kaminari paused looking conflicted. he looked between his ex and his bestfriend before running his fingers through his hair, "first of all, i'm not still pining after you. and second- this better just be a fake scenario to prove your point."

"got em!" sero laughed, clapping his hands. "see! it was just an example and your trust already started crumbling!"

"would you guys just shut the fuck up?" bakugou growled, pulling his eyes from his phone. "it's a shitty thing to do, dunce face. that's all there fucking is to it, so can we stop discussing this shit? i'm gonna hit all of you with a really damn big bus. and clean your shit up, you're all like fucking roaches!"

todoroki mentally thanked bakugou endlessly for putting an end to the topic. he also mentally thanked kaminari for trying his best to practically defend them. in the end, however, the final agreeable statement about it was that it was a shitty thing to do.

todoroki wanted to set himself aflame and die.
