"You mean to tell me I'm going to be a superhero?"

"Yes! All you have to say is 'Tikki, spots on!' and you'll change into a superhero! The new Ladybug, to be exact." Tikki smiled at Luise. Luise stared at the earrings in her palm. "Why did you choose me?" She asked, her voice quiet,"I can't be the new Ladybug! I'm not competent enough!" "Yes you are, Luise. You just don't know it yet." Tikki reassured her.

"What if I fail?" Luise said miserably,"What if it's too hard of a burden?" "Marinette had the same doubts about herself, but she turned out to be an amazing superhero, didn't she?" Tikki said. A frown flashed across her face for a minute, seemingly sad. "Please try, Luise. Paris needs you."

Luise took a deep breath. "Okay. I'll be a superhero... for tonight. I'll hide Marinette and her family somewhere... that's the plan, right?" Tikki nodded, happy that her new chosen holder had finally decided to become the new Ladybug. "But after that... I'm not sure." Luise sighed.

"You'll do great." Tikki said encouragingly. "Thanks." Luise smiled at the kwami, then said,"Tikki,  spots on!"

Luise yelped as a red glow surrounded her body. She was now dressed in a red and black spotted suit. Her hands and wrists were colored black, and the red faded to black from her knees down. She also had a black V-line around her throat as well as a red and black yo-yo tied to her waist. She turned around and saw that she had a light ladybug shell on her back which could turn into wings. 

"Woah." Luise breathed as she looked herself over in the mirror. "I look nice." She whistled appreciatively. 'Right?' A small voice said in her mind,'Don't freak out, I'm just Tikki.' "Oh, okay." Luise looked at the yo-yo tied to her waist. "How do I use this?" 'Try it out.' came Tikki's voice.

Luise held the yo-yo tightly and threw it out her window. A small 'tug' told her that the yo-yo had already latched onto something, and Luise flew straight out the window, dragged along by the yo-yo's string. "Woah!" Luise yelled as she flew over roofs and streets, her wings extended to keep her balanced. 

She landed unsteadily on a rooftop, swinging her arms frantically to catch her balance. "This'll take a little while to get used to." She said aloud, and Tikki replied in her mind,'Yeah. But I'm sure you'll get it right!' Luise smiled,"I better practice a little first. I don't want to crash straight into Marinette's windows."

Luise spent the next five minutes swinging over roofs and practising with her yo-yo grapple hook. She also discovered that her yo-yo had multiple uses, not only was she able to grapple with it, it could also be used as a shield when swung in a circle fast, a 'akuma purifier', and a telephone. She realized the yo-yo could be used to contact her partner-'they'll show up later, for now, just focus on the task!'-as well as used it to breathe under water. Tikki also informed her, as a superhero wearing a Miraculous, she would have enhanced abilities on all physical forms, as well as being almost invulnerable. "Cool." She thought.

Within a matter of minutes, Luise was already quite fluent with the yo-yo. She decided it was time to visit Marinette.

"Marinette!" Luise yelled as she grappled towards Marinette's balcony. Marinette broke into a wide and hopeful smile upon seeing the new heroine. "Finally! I take it Tikki has told you everything?" Luise nodded. "Though, I don't know where to hide you guys." Luise said bashfully,"I'll just... take you to my home first?"

Marinette shook her head firmly,"That would risk revealing your identity. We should find some other place." Luise scratched her head,"I guess I'll wait to see if my partner has any ideas." "Speaking of your partner, has he or she shown up yet?" Luise shook her head.

"Marinette! And uh... the new Ladybug?" Marinette's parents came rushing into the room. Marinette smiled at her parents,"Yeah. She's come to hide us somewhere safe." Tom Dupain hugged his daughter,"Where?"

"I don't know currently."Luise sighed. "Maybe we could go to my brother's house?" Marinette's mother questioned,"In China, he would be-" "Mom, L-" "Lady Luck." Lady Luck informed. She had to admit she was quite proud of her name choice. "Lady Luck can't very well bring us to China."

Suddenly, a 'thump' sounded behind them. Lady Luck whirled around, automatically bringing out her yo-yo. She then realized it was no other than her new partner. 

It was a 'she', surprisingly. She looked about the same age as had black smooth hair tied into curly pigtails, with faint green highlights. Two velvet cat ears sat on top of her head. She had blue-green eyes that sparkled mischeviously. She wore a black leather suit with green outlines, as well as a small green paw print next to her neck. She also had a black belt tied to her waist, as well as a short silver staff clutched in her hand.

"Hi. I'm Cheshire."

Earlier..

"Camembert?" Gladys asked as her kwami asked for the specific cheese for the thousandth time. Gladys rummaged through her fridge as she said,"I don't have camembert... is it expensive?"

"Worth it." Plagg snorted,"You will never understand my love for camembert!" He said dramatically. "Seems like a new ship is in town." Gladys joked, mentally telling herself to never make 'Plamembert' canon.

"I don't have camembert. I only have these parmesan cheese sticks or something." Gladys told her kwami, handing a packet of parmesan sticks. Plagg reluctantly took it and gulped it down,"I guess it'll have to do." He said sourly.

"Right. Plagg, claws out!" "I haven't even finished-" But it was too late. Plagg was sucked into the ring on Gladys' finger, and a flash of green light transformed Gladys into the new Chat Noir. She looked herself over, and said,"Wow! I look cool!" 'Right?' said Plagg smugly from inside her head.

She wore a black leather bodysuit with green lines outlining the outfit. A black leather belt was strapped around her waist, and she saw a small silver staff strapped to the belt as well. She held up a mirror and she saw that her hair had been tied into his curly ponytails, a style she usually didn't like, but now, she looked quite cool. Two fake cat ears popped out on top, Gladys touched them gingerly and they felt velvety. Close to her neck was a green paw print etched in the leather. She also wore a black mask and her eyes looked blue-greenish. 

Gladys resisted the urge to jump up and down in happiness. Seriously, she actually looked like a superhero! This was almost the best day of her life.

She was about to leave when Plagg told her,'Wait. Before you go and fetch Adrien, you gotta make a cool name for yourself. Also, you gotta make a dramatic entrance.' "Cheshire?" Gladys asked her kwami. Plagg stayed silent and Cheshire took that as a 'yes'.

"Right. Let's go find Adrien!"

Cheshire had not yet gotten used to her staff. She found it quite useless when she could run without getting tired on the streets. So she resorted to feet.

'I still don't get you. Why don't you use the staff like Adrien did?' Plagg grumbled, clearly unhappy that his weapon was not in use. "Because, copyright. Besides, I gotta keep a low profile, right?" 

Cheshire spent a whole ten minutes trying to find Adrien's house. Finally, she found the mansion. 'You could've gotten here way faster with the staff.' Cheshire ignored her kwami inside her head. 

She decided knocking on the front door would be way too weird. So, jumping inside the window it was! Luckily, Adrien's room had big windows. With a 'thump', she landed inside Adrien's room. The blonde was pacing the room, upon hearing her entrance, he defensively whirled around before realizing it was her. "Oh. You're.. a girl."

"Any problem with that?" Cheshire put her hands on her hip, an offended look on her face. "No." Adrien chuckled nervously,"So, um... I think Plagg told you about the plan?" "Yep. Blah blah blah, I need to hide you or something. Got any ideas?"

Adrien shook his head,"I was hoping you had one." "Oh well, I'll just hide you in my house first then. My parents aren't home anyways. So, who's your 'loved ones?'" Cheshire asked.

It was right at this time that a blue haired woman and a burly guy rushed into Adrien's room. "Adrie-" The blue haired woman started, but faltered when she spotted Cheshire. "Who are you?" She asked. "Cheshire, at your service." Cheshire gave a little mock bow. 

"Right. Adrien, who is that?" "She's the new Chat Noir." Adrien answered,"Cheshire, cool name by the way, that's my father's assistant, Nathalie, and Gorilla, my bodyguard." "Right." Cheshire nodded.

"I suppose I'll bring them to my house first, unless you guys have any other ideas?" Cheshire looked at Nathalie and Gorilla. They both looked quite confused. "Oh yeah, you guys don't know the plan yet." Adrien hastily told them the plan and Nathalie suggested,"Adrien, do you remember, your father has a vacation house? We could maybe hide there for the time being."

"Great idea." Cheshire said, snapping her fingers,"Let's go there right now."

"What about my father? He needs to come as well, right?" Adrien asked anxiously. "Oh, right. I'll pick him up afterwards." Cheshire replied.

Awkwardly holding Nathalie and Adrien, Cheshire leaped away into the night. Following Nathalie's directions, they quickly reached the vacation house. It was a fairly small cottage, with white walls. After setting Adrien and Nathalie down, Cheshire went to fetch Gorilla, which wasn't easy.

(We're not going to talk about that.)

"Aw, yeah. This'll work just fine." Adrien said, admiring the house. "You've been here before, Adrien." Nathalie reminded him. "True."

Cheshire said,"Right, I'll go find your dad first."

Then, she ran out the door.

Cheshire returned to the now deserted mansion, searching for Gabriel Agreste. She assumed that Gabriel would be easy to find- it was a man, in a mansion. Easy!

Turns out, it was not.

Gabriel Agreste was nowhere to be seen in the mansion. Cheshire searched every nook and cranny, but there was no sign of the man. Maybe she didn't know the mansion fully, so she couldn't find Gabriel. But would a man who just knew his son was a superhero hide?

Okay, maybe, but still.

Dejected, Cheshire went back to the vacation house. She told them about not being able to find Gabriel. "I searched everywhere that I knew existed. I couldn't find him." She said. Adrien bit his lip nervously, beginning to pace around the room.

"Oh no, oh no..." Adrien rambled,"What if Hawkmoth found him? Maybe Hawkmoth really kidnapped him! Oh no, Hawkmoth's going to-" "Calm down, Adrien." Nathalie said, putting a hand on his shoulder,"Your father is just hiding, I'm sure." "Yeah. I'm not entirely sure I searched the whole mansion. It's a big house." Cheshire agreed.

"But still..." Adrien clenched his fists, looking guilty and angry,"If he was really kidnapped or something it would be my fault! I do-I don't want to lose another parent..." Nathalie said nothing but just patted his shoulder. "It'll be fine." Cheshire forced a smile,"He's a grown man, he can take care of-" "But Hawkmoth's a villain!"

"What about I find the new Ladybug first and see if they have any ideas on what to do?" Cheshire suggested. Adrien hesitated then nodded. He stood up abruptly and grasped Cheshire's arm,"I can't lose my dad. H-" "I know."

"He'll be fine."

"So, good news, bad news. Which one?" Cheshire asked Lady Luck after all the introductions. "Um-" "Right. So, good news, I found a hiding place for the families! Bad news, I can't find Adrien's dad." Lady Luck stared at Cheshire. What did she mean?

"And I mean it quite literally. I can't find him anywhere." Cheshire said. Lady Luck looked nervous, but she forced a confident smile,"Let's just bring Marinette and her family there first. We can worry about Gabriel Agreste later."

"Lead the way." She said to Cheshire.

Five minutes later, Marinette and her family plus the two new superheroes reached the vacation house. Adrien rushed outside, a wide smile on his face. Marinette blushed upon seeing Adrien, he and she were going to have to do some explaining later. 

"M'lady." Adrien said jokingly to Marinette, leading her inside the house like a gentleman leading a lady. Marinette's parents chuckled at the two lovesick teenagers and thanked the superheroes again. "No problem. That's our job, right?" Cheshire replied.

"Our new one." Lady Luck smiled at Cheshire, they were going to get along just fine. She held out a fist, remembering Ladybug's and Chat Noir's signature 'Pound it'. Cheshire snorted and said,"Eh, let's think of something original."

"Let's start with a high five." Lady Luck chuckled.

Cheshire smiled,"Sure, Lucky."

And they did, a toast to a new partnership.

"You seem down." Genny Blanc told Luise. Since they were best friends, not only did they sit together in class, but they walked to school together as well. Genny was a nice girl with blonde curly hair and electric blue eyes. She was usually friendly to everyone but sometimes, she would get a little overboard with her pranks. Still, Luise found her calming and reliable despite what other people would think. 

Luise sighed, tucking her hands into the pockets of her soft sunset-colored hoodie. "Who wouldn't be after last night?" Luise answered,"Aren't you worried about how Ladybug and Chat Noir are going to do?"

'I am.' Luise's inner voice replied to herself, even though she knew Ladybug's plan. It was a genius one, not to lie, giving up their Miraculous to other people so that they could fight Hawkmoth, but Luise was still uncertain if she could do it. Besides, they still wasn't able to find Gabriel Agreste... Luise could only hope he was safe. 

"Well.. yeah. That was kinda a stupid question, sorry. Of course you're feeling worried." Genny frowned,"Do you think they have a plan?" 'Yes.' said Luise's inner voice. Externally, Luise shrugged. 

"Ah well." Genny shrugged as well, kicking a small pebble along the curb,"Let's enjoy today while it lasts." Luise chuckled,"We have school today." 

After a few minutes of walking, they reached College Francoise Dupont. Luise remembered that Marinette and Adrien went to this school as well, but now that they were safely hidden in Gabriel Agreste's vacation house, they wouldn't be showing their faces here. 

Gladys was chatting enthusiastically with Dominique Yvani, a brown haired girl with a complicated name. Hence the nickname 'Domino'.  Domino laughed at something Gladys said. Then she noticed Luise and Genny and gave them a grin, and being the energetic person she was, she yelled,"Hi!" Gladys looked over and gave them both a small wave, also beaming. It seemed like they were in great spirits despite last night.

Over in another corner, Skye Sarkisan, a dark haired girl with green eyes, also known as the class therapist was chatting with Keiko Caradova. They had regular conversations and got along quite well. Koen Jefferson was sitting quietly at his table, earphones plugged in and his foot absently tapping along to whatever music he was listening to. Skye leaned over and tapped him on the shoulder, seemingly inviting him to chat with Keiko and her. Koen smiled and pulled out his earphones, joining in the conversation, though Luise could spot a slight frown directed at Keiko from Koen.

Aletta Rosette was talking with Ali White, one of her best friends. Ali and Aletta even had a special handshake: High five, then squeeze both hands, next they do the peace sign with their right hands, lastly having the two fingers touch. Luise smiled, wanting to go over and join the conversation. But of course, her confidence failed her yet again. Nora Grey, another one of Aletta's friends walked up to them as well, smoothly joining in the conversation. 

Louie Blanchet came running up to Adelaide Abrielle and Layla Withers, showing off his brand new magazine of Marvel Superheroes. Adelaide and Layla were like two peas in a pod-they were both popular, both were outgoing, and both loved Louie Blanchet like a younger brother despite them both being a year younger than Louie. Maybe that wasn't fair. The whole class saw the awkward but bubbly Louie as a younger brother.

(I didn't have this friendship in the cast opinions but I thought it would work out quite well!)

(I also wanted to add Adeluise here but uh- yeah I didn't know what wouldn't be awkwardly written so ya)

Pansai Katerson, otherwise known as Jenny(Genny always joked she copied her name), was standing in a side, not talking with anyone. Sunny Argent sat at her table, shared with Koen, hunched over what seemed to be extra homework. 

Luise was quite surprised no one was upset about the Hawkmoth threat. They all seemed like things were normal and life was going on like it did before. Well, it wasn't like Luise didn't enjoy this small bubble of cheerfulness surrounding their class, at least she wouldn't have any awkward conversation about Ladybug's plans and Luise would accidentally let slip to everyone that she was the new Ladybug.

Then of course, a sharp needle had to prick the bubble, bursting it. Chantelle Thierry came banging open the door, walking flawlessly in her white high heels. Luise suppressed a small groan. "Ugh, Ladybug and Chat Noir are, so incompetent!" Chantelle said loudly,"I hope they have a way of saving Paris. Am I right?" She asked innocently to the class.

Louie stuttered,"B-But they're superheroes." "Superheroes?" Chantelle laughed,"True, Louie, but I could be a better superhero than that." Luise clenched her fists, biting back a retort. Aletta had no such fears. "You, as a superhero? The only time you're going to be a superhero is Trash Day-it's even dedicated to you!" Aletta said.

"How can you say that?" Chantelle looked down, pretending to be hurt,"Besides, Trash Day doesn't exist." "It does." Sunny looked up from her work,"Read sometimes, Chantelle." Chantelle gritted her teeth,"Ugh, never mind."

(Does trash day exist I have no idea)

Chantelle walked over to her seat, sitting down and letting out a big fart. The class burst out laughing, even Koen who usually kept a straight face. Chantelle turned red as Genny smirked. She had probably put a whoopee cushion on Chantelle's seat Luise chuckled but couldn't help but feel a little sorry for Chantelle. 

But maybe she deserved it. She had just insulted Louie's role models-Louie!- and practically insulted her. 

As Luise laughed along with the class, she thought,'Some things do never change.'

It was in the middle of the class that Hawkmoth decided to show up and repeat his threat. The same green hologram appeared throughout Paris, repeating the same message- telling Ladybug and Chat Noir to give up their Miraculous.

Luise quickly excused herself to the bathroom. It was the only excuse she could think of. Tikki flew out of her hoodie pocket and said,"Luise, you have to-" "I know." Luise interrupted. She took a deep breath. This was for Paris. She had to be brave.

"Tikki, spots on!"

A flash of red glow surrounded Luise, transforming her into Lady Luck. She subtly smiled at herself, and full of confidence, she jumped out her window onto the streets. "The Eiffel Tower.." She thought, remembering Hawkmoth's threat last night,"I need to get to the Eiffel Tower."

She started jumping across the roofs, the tip of the Eiffel Tower in sight. As she was grappling to another roof where she would have a clear sight of the famous attraction, someone grabbed her arm. She whirled around, scared it was Hawkmoth or some other villain.

Turns out, it was her partner. "Oh. It's just you." She relaxed. Cheshire laughed,"Yeah. No need to be this shocked." Then her expression turned slightly more serious,"Hawkmoth's already there. He's standing regal and mighty there. Shall I charge in and-" Lady Luck shook her head quickly,"We need a plan."

Cheshire shrugged,"None on hand. Maybe you should try your Lucky Charm though." "Good idea." Lady Luck agreed. 'Good luck! I believe in you!' came Tikki's voice inside her head. Luise threw her yo-yo up and yelled-well, okay, more like she whisper-yelled, since she didn't want to attract any attention yet,"Lucky Charm!"

A heavy machine dropped into Lady Luck's arms. Upon close inspection, it was a hologram machine(here, the author gives apologies as she is way too lazy to search the actual name of this thing). "A hologram machine? Is that supposed to help us?" Cheshire asked.

Lady Luck shrugged. Glancing around with her super vision, the roof lit up with a red and black polka dot pattern, so did her yo-yo... the emergency phone which would give her immediate contact with Marinette. She looked one more time at the machine in her arms, and smiled confidently. She knew what had to be done.

Serpentmoth stood on the Eiffel Tower, his gray eyes darting around to spot any sign of Ladybug and Chat Noir... little did he know, it would be Lady Luck, and Cheshire. He held his cane at the ready, in case they tried to sneak up on them. He didn't show it, but his heart was thumping fast. He was nervous.

Of course, he had his power to turn back time at the ready. He was wearing the Snake Miraculous as well, though he had hidden it well so they wouldn't suspect. 

He was getting more agitated by the second. The superheroes still hadn't shown up yet. But he had to be patient... he was aware of the helicopters flying and whirring around. He ignored them. 

Then they came. Marinette and Adrien came striding up to Hawkmoth, below the Eiffel Tower. Hawkmoth sucked in a breath in seeing Adrien. He still couldn't believe that his son was Chat Noir. But then again, if he got his wish today, none of it would matter anymore. 

They respectively took off their Miraculous, their faces full of shame and sadness. Hawkmoth's heart soared seeing those two jewelry being almost presented to him. He managed an evil smile.

"Marinette, Adrien.." Hawkmoth gloated, his voice full of anticipation,"You made the right choice." Adrien gritted his teeth at the words,"Shut up." He said angrily. Hawkmoth merely smirked. He was finally going to get his dear Emilie back, and no one was there to stop him.

Or was there?

As Adrien and Marinette walked solemnly up to Hawkmoth, Lady Luck and Cheshire were waiting behind. Lady Luck hoped with all her heart that Hawkmoth was fooled by the hologram. It seemed like so.

Cheshire gave a glance to Lady Luck, her eyes flashing mischeviously. 

Hawkmoth jumped down easily to the ground, his hand outstretched. 

They pounced at the same time, Cheshire aiming for the bracelet on Hawkmoth's wrist, Lady Luck heading for the brooch. Hawkmoth barely had time to react when both weapons struck him on the back. 

He whirled around, his cane swinging in front of him. Cheshire was hit back, but she quickly got to her feet. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to get the Miraculous. Lady Luck avoided Hawkmoth's attacks, and retaliated with her own. She threw her yo-yo at Hawkmoth's face, but he grabbed the string and threw her away. Lady Luck crashed onto the ground a few feet away, next to Cheshire. Her partner helped her up, and they glanced nervously at Hawkmoth. Their attack hadn't worked.

Hawkmoth was ultimately confused on why Marinette and Adrien were here, yet Ladybug and Chat Noir had attacked him. He would've thought they used the Fox Miraculous, but now that it was in his hands...

His mind came to a conclusion. Marinette and Adrien had given their Miraculous to someone else. Rage like nothing surged through him. So close, yet it was dragged away from him again. He growled and charged at his son, aiming to grab him and use him as a hostage. Rage had completely overcome him.

His hand swiped at Adrien, but it met air. He couldn't believe it. This was a hologram?

Hawkmoth gritted his teeth as he stepped backwards. The new Ladybug and Chat Noir had outsmarted him...

"Hey, how's it going, Gramps?" Adrien said mockingly,"This is a hologram!"

"Argh!" Hawkmoth ran at the two new superheroes, his cane swinging wildly in front of him. Lady Luck was too taken aback to react, and Hawkmoth grabbed her yo-yo. "CATACLYSM!" yelled Cheshire, touching the Eiffel Tower

There was a loud 'groan' as the Eiffel Tower slowly crumbled into a huge pile of rusted rubble. It collapsed on top of Hawkmoth and a big cloud of smoke arose. Like last night, the city of Paris held in a breath.

The rubble shifted, and Hawkmoth emerged from the remains of the Eiffel Tower, panting. He glanced around. He looked back at the superheroes. 

Surprisingly, Hawkmoth didn't continue to attack. He gave them a two-finger salute then jumped away.

Cheshire and Lady Luck glanced at each other, and they smiled.

A victory...

For now.

"MIRACULOUS LADYBUG!!" Lady Luck shouted as she threw the hologram machine upwards-not an easy task-into the air. A swarm of red ladybugs appeared and spread across Paris. They flew between the streets and repaired the damage, before swirling around the Eiffel Tower. Within seconds, the Eiffel Tower was standing again. 

"Great job, I must say." Cheshire said appreciatively,"This isn't as hard as I thought." Luise chuckled and high-fived her partner,"There'll be more to come." She replied,"See you next time?"

"Soon." Cheshire smiled, and jumped away.
