15: I've never done that before...
You sat in the symbol you made, hanging your head and processing what just happened. You... You failed. You had never failed a ritual before.
Well, you've never done a ritual that involved other people before now have you. No... don't do that.
Don't not blame yourself. Has your mother not taught you well enough in the time you spent?! Don't blame her, nor your father, he wasn't like your mother, after all. He wouldn't know what to do with you.
Back to the thought at hand. That never happened before... that cold touch. It felt as space had come to caress you slowly. Was that apart of the ritual or something?
You head hurt. That usually happened when you overwhelmed your third eye. You got up slowly and sighed. You'd have to clean the place up and get ready for the next time.
...Maybe later. You yawned and grabbed the scrunchie from your hair. Brushing the black salt from your legs and butt, you walked up the steps and into your room.
You flopped on your bed and huffed quietly. What was that cold touch? Why did it occur? Was it a mistake on your part? You flipped on your back, looking up at the ceiling of your room.
The ceiling was a popcorn ceiling with dim [F/C] swirls with hint of magenta circling with the color.
You've come to except that this was your home. It was the home you were born in. And the home you ran to when your mother was-...
Are you just gonna keep thinking about your past or Are you going to try something. You looked over to your desk beside your bed. An Evil eye.
That's it!
You sat up quickly, despite the head splitting headache that made it painful to see. You closed your eyes rubbing them clear again. Another side effect. You wouldn't be able to do this. You massaged you head, taking deep and steady breaths. You decided to sing a song, it was from a musical you saw with your mother once. It always helped you calm down
"Some might say we're released, pushing daisies, deceased. But we all know the worms must be fed." You sang, rubbing your head in a massaging manner to calm your head splitting headache.
"There's just one lingering fear, oh my soul, is it here? Or is it rotting somewhere with my head." You breathed, continuing your motions on you head.
"Oh my soul~ oh my soul~ oh my soul~! oh my soul~ ooh~ ooh~ ahh~" you hummed, rocking back and forth on the bed to help your mind relax.
"Oh no soul and no name, and no story what a shame, cruel existence was only a sham." You were reminded to when your mother would sing this to you.
Oh how young and naive you were. "Oh Saint Peter, let me in, you must know where I've been. Won't you tell me at last who I am?"
"Who I am~ who I am~ who I am~! Who I am~! Ooh~ ooh~ ahh~...." as you sung you could feel your head start to throb less violently now. You were reminded of the ways your mother would teach you the lyrics to the song, once you expressed your love for the song.
"And from the ground, beneath my feet, I hear the anguish of the street. A choir never complete." Your mother was so joyful and taught you day and night.
"And like an old forgotten tune a song that no one knows~ forgot who it goes~ just John and me forever eternally Jane Doe." She taught you the song like she would any other lesson she'd teach you about magic.
"And I'm askin' why, lord~?" She'd do whatever she was teaching infront of you. "If this is how I die, lord~" and tell you to repeat what she did.
"Why be left with no family and no friends~?" Thank the stars for your photographic memory. "I've got no celebration~!" If you'd mess up however, she didn't do anything bad.
"Just this consultation~" she tell you it's okay and repeat it again. "Time eats all his children in the end~" she wasn't a bad teacher.
"A Melody floats through the air~" It was her student. "When silence falls, Does no one care~!?" It was you.
"Another sad, forgotten tune, a song that no one knows~! Forgot how it goes~!" Your father, he was slightly more forceful. "Just John and Me! forever eternally, Jane Doe." He'd show you the steps, however, he wouldn't demonstrate.
"And she's asking why lord~?! Oh why? oh why? oh why~!?" If you were to mess up, you would go into a corner and start again in a few hours.
"No one to sing no one to sigh~ now that's all said and done. isn't there anyone to tell me who I am~!?" But It's not like your parents didn't congratulate you on the small victories.
"No singing songs for celebration!" Once you formed truly, your father congratulated you and took you out for ice cream. though that idea would eventually have the town they resided in go on lock down for suspicion of witch activity.
"Just this sorry speculation~!" Your mother would congratulate you with letting your power run wild, as a child you had plenty of pent up magic and your mother would let you use it to a reasonable extent.
"Like John I'll be eternally, a forgotten name, some lost refrain, just Jane..." you loved your parents. "Jane~ Doe~" while they were still alive.
You opened your eyes, your head no longer throbbing and clear. You sighed and grabbed the evil eye. Something a miniscule as telepathy wouldn't be hard to do, you hoped.
You took the Evil eye in your hand and warmed the jewelry with the intention of communicating with a Ruby, any Ruby.
"Hello?" You smiled at the voice of Navy speaking to you. "Ruby! I'm am so glad I contacted you."
"[Y/n]? Where are you?" You could tell Navy was looking around the vast space to detect where her Sapphire was.
"We are talking telepathically, Ruby. What do you see right now?" You asked, Navy let out a hum and was supposedly looking around.
"The earth is pretty big, did you get back to your home, My [Y/n]?" You let out a 'mhm' to answer Navy's question. Navy let out a sigh of relief.
"That's good." Navy smiled. "Are there any other Rubies with you?" You asked, Navy shook her head with a small, "no..."
---
You and Navy spoke for a while, it was mostly you warning her of her Crystal gems and to beat them she had to use their manipulation tactics against them.
"That way you and the others get home..." you said, your voice slightly cracking at the thought of never seeing your Rubies again. "But-" Navy cut herself off, she seemed to hesitate.
"Okay, my [Y/n]." Navy spoke, you smiled lightly before yawning. "I have too sleep now, I'll be sure to contact you again, good night Ruby." You said waiting for Navy's response.
"...Good night, My [Y/n]." You could feel the warmth radiating off Navy's voice as you ended the connection. You flopped on the bed, exhaustion creeping up your body.
That took a lot out of you. However that's the price to pay when you do something your not use to. You sighed and drifted off to sleep.
