Mr.Barkley sat at his desk enjoying a nice warm cup of Java, when Evie came running into the classroom. Dark streaks ran down her face, as the makeup she had on washed away, and down her cheeks.
"Why must I, be the one who suffers from persiflage!?" She cried out.
"Evie, breathe, and explain everything."
Evie then explained the humiliation she recently endured at lunch time. She then protested, that there was no point in trying to make herself representable. Not when Priscilla was always there to pull at her strings.
"I have Priscilla, next period. Not one of my favorite students." Mr.Barkley said matter of factly. " All she does is gossip, she might not be happy with her grades at the end of the year."
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Said Evie.
Mr.Barkley looked at her questionably.
"Her dad is Judge Posey. Don't expect justified treatment from him, if you flunk his daughter, she's what one would say, untouchable." Evie told, her teacher. A seriousness lingered in both her face, and voice.
"That makes me want to flunk her even more, honestly." Mr. Barkley said. " I mean, she shouldn't just walk around expecting handouts her whole life, because of Daddy. I have a deep loathing for self entitled people. I have a even greater loathing for people who have to bully other's around. You looked really nice today. I noticed both sexes, staring. Priscilla is obviously just threatened by you. I would just ignore her, and keep walking tall. That way she can't win. She's going to keep trying, but you should never give her that glory."
Evie smiled back at Mr.Barkley. she knew he was right. She then quietly nodded at him.
"Your right, and thank you. Our talk last night, really helped. Me and my mom even talked alot aftet you left last night. My parents have been giving me alot more encouragement then usual. Not that they never did, but I can see they really want me to be happy. I want too, for them, for you, and mostly for myself. Thanks again for listening, and also for helping me feel better."
Evie gave Mr.Barkley a platonic hug. She then walked away, and it was obvious a great weight was lifted off her shoulders.
🌟------------------------------------------------🌟
It was their last period. One that was enjoyed because Evie, Javier, Mickey, and Minnie all had it together. Biology was also fun because they were allowed to work as a group together, from time to time. Priscilla also wasn't in their Biology class. Morgan was, but she usually only acted sour when her BFF stood nearby. Morgan usually didn't even pay any mind, to the four of them.
Their Biology teacher Mrs.Redwood asked everyone to go in their groups again today. So predictability, the quartette went with eachother. Mrs.Redwood now instructed the class to grab a microscope, and some slides. They were to compare what they saw between the group, and make a chart. They gathered everything and while doing the assignment, they chatted.
"Looks like you feel much better", Javier now said. He was more quiet then usual, and for Javier, That was pure silence. He rarely talked much, less then the other fellow quaternion's.
Evie smiled back, at her secret admirer, and gave her thanks.
"Screw that bitch anyways," said Mickey, his voice cold, as his eyes shifted back at Morgan, who appeared to be eavesdropping.
"She obviously has to destroy you, because your suppiour."
"That was pretty mean, though." Said Minnie. "I don't understand how so many people like her."
"Her status, that's probably it. She's rich, and powerful. She is a spoiled brat, and knows how to get her way. She's also attractive, so..." Said Evie.
Javier nodded back at Evie.
"You should dress up tomorrow too, show her she can't control you." Minnie said.
"I agree with my wombmate on that one." Said Mickey.
Javier then, spoke up aswell.
"She not worth it, gosh Evie. You look so...nice, today. You were always much prettier, than her.Your perfect, Evie, flawless" The last remark, in his head.
"I will," said Evie, in complete agreement with her friends. " Why should I let her, make me feel inadequate."
Evie now looked at a slide, focusing on a tiny green blot. She looked up, made notes and passed the microscope left, to Minnie.
"I have been feeling so shitty, for a long time. It's now my time, you know." Said Evie. "I actually felt so
pulchritudinous."
They all now eyed, at her. Once again Evie, astounded her friends with her knowledge of big words.
"I'm sorry Pulchi..whatnus?" Asked Mickey.
"Beautiful," said Evie.
"Weirdo," joked back Mickey. " Just say the word we understand. Just because your a genius, doesn't mean we are." Mickey now jabbed, Evie on the arm, with a playful punch.
"Doesn't Emily look pulchi...uhhh, what was that Ev.? Said Minnie.
"pulchritudinous, puhl-kri-tud-in-us," Evie then spoke the word slower, so her friend could say it proper. "You totally should tell her Mick. I have seen her look back at you before. I think she likes you too, she's just rather shy."
"You don't think she might laugh, at the word vomit. Or have no clue what I am rambling" Said Mickey, his eyes darting back and forth.
"That girl is like hella smart." Said Minnie, and if she doesn't you can explain to her. It's about time we added another to our supreme group."
"If you don't tell her how, you feel, it's going to eat at you, forever." This time it was Javier, who spoke up. The look on his face also clarified, that he had a general idea, about not being open with someone.
Mickey looked back, at Emily. She had to remove her glasses to look through the microscope. She kept her chart on a clipboard, that she held on tightly making her look like a scientist. Mickey strolled towards her, and made his move. A slight pink illuminated out of her porcelain white cheeks. A couple of her friends gushed, and awed, as Emily threw Mickey back a meek smile.
"Who is she, Javey.?" Evie playfully said, after watching Mickey "score."
Javier now grew quiet.
"I..I don't know what you mean." His darkened skin, started to grow a tinge of red around the cheeks. Why it's you my dear Evie
"C'mon, man. We have been friends for like what, four years now. I can see it all over your face, the evidence is uncanny." Evie said.
"Oh, just a girl, ahh...uhh, a girl from my church." He quickly lied back.
"Well I think she would be lucky to have such a sweet, and kind gentleman like you attached to her arm." Evie said.
"Does she love me too?"Javier looked back at Evie, mute, and unsure of what to say next.
"Sure," that was all he could say.
"I'm serious Javey," Evie now said. "If we weren't such great friends, I would be so happy to be your girlfriend. I love you like a brother. Your amazing, and if this girl doesn't like you back, then she must be foolish."
There it was, the blasted friend zone acceptance letter. He knew he would never have a chance with Evie. Javier just faked a smile, as his eyes met Evie's. What if they did date, and then broke up. Would they even be able to stay as friends afterwards. He knew it was highly unlikely, and would rather not ever lose her. Even if they were always destined to be "just friends". Javier pushed the thoughts of them ever being an item, at the back of his mind. The slight chance of losing her forever just wasn't worth it.

I doubt I need to say this, but you never know I guess. Javey, is of course pronounced Ha-vee. It's Evie's pet name for Javier. I wasn't sure how to exactly spell it, but considering the J, in Javier makes an H, sound I decided to spell it that way 🤷, lol. If any of you have a suggestion, please by all means let me know. Maybe I will even have a reader who knows Spanish, and or Mexican, and could help me out. That would be as Minnie would say "Hella awesome."
Quick question readers, which one of Evie's friends so you like the most? Which one do you relate with the most, or do you relate more with Evie?
It would also be hella awesome, if you gave me one of those nice stars ;).
