Another One
"I'm pregnant again," Jack said abruptly, swiping through his phone.
It was an ordinary night in the Fischbach-McLoughlin household. Jack, sitting on the couch next to Mark, and Mark holding their daughter in his arms.
The older male was caught off guard, his head jerking to the side. "You're what?" he asked.
"We're having another baby," Jack mumbled, looking up at his fiancé. A wave of excitement washed over Mark. He gently set Maeve down in her crib, then wrapped Jack in his arms.
"Oh my god," he whispered, burying his face in Jack's neck. Jack laughed softly.
"So you're not mad?" he asked.
Mark pulled away with a smile. "Of course I'm not mad. You've already given me one beautiful daughter. I couldn't be any happier."
Jack kissed Mark's forehead gently. "Good. Now let's go to bed," he said with a yawn. Mark stood up and helped the green-haired male to his feet.
The next day was, to say the least, a mess. The first few hours of the day consisted of calling Jack's family and informing them that Jack was pregnant with their second child.
"You better marry him before that baby comes," Jack's mother had told Mark. Mark, in response, told her that they'd get married when they were both ready.
"We're already engaged. Isn't that enough ma?" Jack asked, rolling is eyes. They talked to his mother and father for another few minutes after that, then moved on to Mark's side of the family.
First was his older brother, Tom. "Hey guys. How's my favorite niece doing?" he asked.
"She's doing good. She just figured out how to crawl the other day," Mark replied, pulling the phone away from his face and putting it on speaker.
"That's awesome," Tom replied. "So what do I owe the pleasure of your call?"
Jack smiled. "Well, we have some big news," he started off, "I'm pregnant again!"
The engaged couple could hear a gasp, then a burst of laughter. "That's amazing guys! Congrats. How far is along is Jack?" he asked.
Mark looked over at his fiancé. "I think about a month. But we still have to make a doctor's appointment," Jack said into the phone, smiling at Mark.
"That's awesome, Jack. I'm really happy for you guys," Tom replied. "Hey Mark, will you take me off speaker for a second? I need to tell you something."
Mark did as he was asked and mouthed sorry to Jack.
"Okay. What's up?" Mark asked, a feeling of hesitation rising up in his stomach.
Tom took a deep breath before speaking again. "I just wanted to tell you that I think dad would be proud of you. He always knew you were going to do great things in life, and you have. You started your YouTube channel, met Jack, proposed to him, and started a family. You've done so much and we're all so happy for you."
At this point, Mark had tears running down his face. "T-Thanks. I really appreciate it," Mark replied, his words separated by hiccups and sobs.
"Well, I'm going to let you get back to Jack. I'm sure he misses you already."
Mark and Tom said their goodbyes and hung up the phone. Jack had been sitting in the living room, a glass of hot cocoa in is hands.
"Are you okay Mark?" Jack asked, setting the mug down on the table and making is way over to his crying fiancé.
"I-I'm fine. Tom just told me that he thinks my dad would be really proud of me."
Jack wrapped his arms around Mark's neck and pulled him into a hug. "I know he would be; and I am too," he said, burying his head in his neck.
Next was Mark's mother, who was extremely excited about her "new grandbaby" and how she would spoil them, just as she had done with Maeve.
"Well it was nice talking to you Mrs. Fishbach," Jack had said, ending the phone call.
When they had finished informing their family and friends, Jack had decided to take a nap.
"I'm going to head to the store," Mark said, throwing on his jacket, "Anything you want?" The older male turned around to face the couch, only to find his fiancé fast a sleep. He walked over and gently placed a kiss on Jack's forehead. He whispered goodbye and left, imagining how much their life would change with two children, and how much more he would love Jack.
