Hey guys, here is a new chapter!

I have started my new fanfiction The Heart and Soul, so if you haven't started reading that yet, there's a few chapters written already. I also am writing some one-shots in my Haddock Family One-shots - but they aren't done yet. The one is so long and I'm actually really happy with it but it's far from done. I'm hoping since I have a little more time now, that I can get it finished soon. 

But enjoy the Hiccstrid in this chapter.

   Hiccup and Astrid got Hailey in the car and got ready to drive back to Berk City. Hailey fell asleep on the way back, and Hiccup was quiet most of the drive. Astrid let Valka know how far away they were when they got closer and hung up the phone. Astrid looked at Hiccup. She put her hand on his arm. 

"You okay?" She asked him. Hiccup nodded. 

"Just thinking." Hiccup told her. He glanced at her and smiled. Astrid smiled back. Hiccup looked back at the road. 

They got back to their house and Valerie was there waiting with Ella already. Ella was in the living room playing with her toys. Hiccup carried Hailey inside. Astrid went and picked up Ella. 

"Hi sweetie, I missed you." Astrid told her daughter planting kisses on her cheek. Ella giggled. Hiccup put Hailey down on the couch and let her wake up a little bit. 

"So, what happened exactly?" Valka asked them. 

"Hailey actually got away from Cami, and ironically Astrid's friend was parked down the road and helped Hailey out. They arrested Cami and the others who were helping her. I'm hoping they won't drag it out into a huge trail. They have the proof they need." Hiccup told his mom. Valka nodded. 

Hiccup greeted Ella as well and Ella smiled at him. He kissed her head.

 Hiccup was sitting in his room on the bed. He was looking at the ring in the box in his hand. He heard footsteps coming up. He closed the box and put in the nightstand. 

"Hiccup?" Astrid's voice floated into the room from outside the door. Hiccup walked over and opened the door. 

"Hey" He said. She looked at him. 

"You okay?" She asked him. He nodded pecking a kiss to her lips. "She's safe, Hiccup." Astrid told him. He smiled at her. 

"I know." He told her. He put his hand on her cheek and Astrid leaned into it. "Do you wanna go out for dinner tonight?" Hiccup asked her. 

"Sure. Where?" She asked. 

"It'll be a surprise. Dress nice." He told her and kissed her cheek before going downstairs. Astrid watched him leave and smirked. She went into their bedroom to get ready to have a shower.

Astrid was in her housecoat with her hair wrapped up in a towel. She walked to the closet and opened it and started looking through her dresses. She picked out a red dress and grabbed a black pair of strappy heels. She laid the dress on the bed with the heels beside it and went back to the bathroom. 

Astrid removed the towel from her hair and started to blow dry it and put it up halfway with some curls. She also did her makeup, something she didn't do very often. Hiccup came into the bathroom and saw her. 

"I'm almost done." She told him. Hiccup smirked. 

"Alright, I'll get dressed and wait for you downstairs." He told her. She smiled and nodded. 

Astrid finished her makeup and went back to the bedroom and Hiccup was finishing getting dressed himself. He went downstairs to wait for her. He gave his mom some money to order some food for her and Hailey for dinner. Astrid finished getting dressed and headed downstairs. Hiccup heard her shoes and turned around. 

"Wow, you look fantastic." He told her. Astrid smiled and blushed a little. Hiccup kissed her cheek. "You ready?" He asked and she nodded.

Hiccup pulled into one of the fanciest restaurants in their city. Astrid looked at him. 

"Hiccup, we don't have to eat here." She told him. He smiled at her. 

"It's alright. It's for a special reason." He told her and got out of the car and walked around to open her door. He helped her out of the car and they walked inside of the restaurant. Hiccup spoke to the hostess and she led them to their table. He let Astrid sit down first and pushed her towards the table and then sat across from her. Astrid opened the menu to look at it. She noticed how expensive some of the items were and glanced up at Hiccup who was reading the menu as well. Hiccup felt her looking at him and looked up and smiled at her. 

"Get whatever you want, it's fine." He told her with that cute smirk she loved. Astrid smiled a little and went back to reading the menu. She decided on a stuffed chicken meal that sounded pretty good with a side salad and roasted vegetables. Hiccup ordered a roast beef with mashed potatoes and cooked vegetables. The waiter took their menus and left them alone. Astrid looked at Hiccup. 

"So what exactly is this nice evening for?" She asked. Hiccup smiled at her. 

"You'll see." He told her. "Dinner is only the beginning."

After dinner, Hiccup payed for the cheque and left a generous tip. They left and Hiccup started driving them to the location he had asked his friends to set up for him. He pulled into a small parking lot next to a forest area. They unbuckled and Astrid looked at him. 

"Planning on murdering me or something?" She smirked. Hiccup laughed. 

"No, not exactly. Come on." He said getting out of the car. Astrid got out on her side and Hiccup took her hand and led her down one of the paths. She saw some lights in the distance and a small building that looked like a cabin. There were hanging stringed fairy lights along the trees and the location overlooked a small lake. It was dusk, and some stars were starting to pop out of the night sky. Astrid stood looking at it and smiled. 

"This is beautiful." Astrid told him. Hiccup smiled at her and could feel himself getting more nervous by the second. Astrid stood there looking at the lake and Hiccup was behind her and knelt down on his knee. He pulled the box out of his pocket and opened it. Astrid went to turn around. 

"Hicc-" She caught her breath when she saw him. Hiccup smiled at her. 

"Astrid, I'm not great at these things, but I love you and you and the girls mean everything to me. I don't want to not have you in our lives. You're the best thing that could've happen to Hailey and I and I promise I will love you and keep you safe. So will you marry me?" Hiccup asked her. 

Astrid was trying not to cry and she nodded at him. "Yes, of course." Hiccup smiled and took the ring out of the box and put it on her finger. He stood up and Astrid kissed him and hugged him. "I love you." Hiccup smiled against her, holding her tighter. 

"I love you too." Hiccup pulled back a little to kiss her again. She smiled at him and looked at the ring seeing the blue in it. 

"It's beautiful. Thank you." Hiccup smiled and kissed her forehead. 

"Hailey is going to be thrilled that you're actually becoming her mom." Hiccup told her. Astrid chuckled a little. 

"Speaking of that. Do you think once were married, I could officially adopt her? In time of course and I want her to be okay with it too." 

"I think she'd love that. I would love that." Hiccup hugged her again. Astrid smiled.

They got home late and Valerie was sitting on the couch in the living room when she heard the door. She got up and turned off the TV and walked down the hall to greet them. She could see the happiness beaming off of them. 

"I assume it went well and I'll have a daughter-in-law soon." She smiled. Astrid smiled at her and nodded. 

"Thank you Valerie." Astrid yawned. "Were the girls good for you?" She asked. 

"Oh yes, Hailey talked my ear off like usual and Ella was fine. They both went to bed easily as well." Valerie told them. 

"Good. Thank you mom." Hiccup said to her. Astrid headed up the steps. 

"Goodnight Valerie, thank you." Astrid told her. 

"You're welcome dear. Goodnight." Valerie said and kissed Hiccup's forehead before leaving. Hiccup locked the door behind her and watched from the window until she got in her car and left. He went around and turned the lights off in the house and locked all the doors and then headed upstairs. He went to their bedroom and didn't see Astrid in there. He heard whispering from Hailey's room and walked over and peaked the door open a little more and found Astrid saying goodnight to her. Hailey was sound asleep but Astrid always went and said goodnight to the girls anyway if she wasn't home when they went to bed. Astrid kissed Hailey's forehead and then walked over and saw Hiccup at the door. He smiled at her. Astrid walked into the hallway and they closed Hailey's door again. Astrid went to Ella's room next to say goodnight as well. 

They went back to their bedroom after and Hiccup closed the door. Astrid sat on the bed and took her heels off and threw them into the closet. She sighed as her feet could relax again. She stood up and moved her hair out of the way. 

"Babe, can you unzip me please." She asked Hiccup. Hiccup walked over to her and unzipped her dress for her. "Thank you." Astrid pulled her dress off and Hiccup realized he was just staring at her and then cleared his throat and started to change himself. Astrid smirked to herself knowing he had been watching her. She grabbed one of his t-shirts to put on and a pair of pajama shorts. She then proceeded to the bathroom to wash her makeup off and get ready for bed. 

Hiccup sighed to himself, she was perfect. He couldn't believe how lucky he was to have her. Both of their lives have been so much better since they met each other. He wouldn't change it for anything.

Alright, that is all for this chapter. I am hoping to write one or two more chapters to this, but I guess we'll see where it goes - maybe it'll be even longer then I thought. 

I hope you all have had a good summer, mine was a whirlwind - my sister got married this past weekend and I had a lot going on with that, since I was also in her bridal party. 

I also went to FANEXPO Canada this past weekend which is always a great time. I posted some photos on my Instagram account of it under the same username I have on here.
