Chapter 12; One For The Road
{ Alex's P.O.V. }
The last few weeks were a living hell.
Miles insisted on sticking around me to make sure I was healthy while I made him eat everyday.
Today we start tour.
We've been setting up the tour bus for a whole week which resulted in a lot of arguments.
Right now we were in the middle of a fight about who gets which bunk.
"Just take the extra bloody room, you arse!" I yelled in his direction, shoving my bags into an empty bunk.
He did deserve the queen sized bed since he hasn't been sleeping well recently.
"Al, you always complain about bunkers! Why don't you just take it?!" He retorted.
I groaned out loud, "Miles, please!"
"Al,"
I interupted him, "Miles no!"
I let out an exasperated sigh.
I closed my eyes for a moment. I opened them again and looked into his eyes, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Take the bed. You need it." I said.
He stared at me for a moment, still looking angry.
"Fine!" He finally said, turning around and walking off, putting his bags in the room.
I sighed and sat back on my bunk, falling back and bringing my hands up to rub my face as I sighed, glad that the argument was over.
Knowing how Miles has been sleeping, I'll probably end up in his bunk anyway, talking him to sleep.
I didn't mind much, though. A sleepy, clingy Miles was not something that I minded, really. I enjoyed his warmth.
I punched the mattress beneath me knowing how horribly I'd sleep.
Whatever, at least Miles will be comfy.
I lay down in the bunk, letting my eyes close.
"I need sleep..." I murmured to myself, gripping the pillow beneath my head.
Sleep should help calm both Miles and I down.
I felt the bus jolt and we started to move once everything was packed up.
I heard Miles go past the bunk I was in to go to the extra room.
The door slammed behind him and a sigh escaped my lips.
"Mi..." I sighed once again, feeling anxious as I got up and made my way over to the room, opening the door a crack.
When I peeked in, I saw Miles sitting on the bed.
He felt it before sighing and getting back up, walking over to the seat by the window, and slumping down on it, placing his arms on the small sill and burrying how face in his arms.
I sighed as I looked down. I finally decided to open the door, stepping in and closing it, resting against it.
When Miles didn't lift his head, I assumed that he hadn't heard me enter.
As quietly as I could, I tip toed over to him.
Just before I reached him, I saw his body, which was lightly shaking.
Suddenly, I heard him let out a breathy, non vocal sob.
That kind that you let out when you're crying and don't want anyone to hear you.
He sniffed and I slowly settled into the seat infront of him.
I rubbed his knee gently and murmured his name softly. He jumped and looked up at me with tear tracks on his cheeks.
"I-I hate fighting with you, Al." He murmured, sniffiling slightly.
I just wrapped my arms around him and pulled him into my arms. I carried him to the bed and lay down with him, cuddling into his warm frame.
"Shut up, you git." I said in a teasing manner, holding him close.
He let out a little giggle and nuzzles into me.
"I love you, Al." He said softly.
I tried to keep from flinching at the word 'love'.
God, my head hurts.
"I love you too, Mi." I finally said.
If only he knew... I thought.
"Let's get some sleep, yeah? It'll help us calm down, Tha' knows." I commented, wishing that this ache in my skull would go away.
I felt him nod and I closed my eyes immediately.
I soon fell asleep, and when I woke up, though I was groggy, I still felt fairly refreshed, and certainly better.
The ache in my head had mostly gone away but when I looked at the man snuggling in my arms and snoring softly, the ache in my heart began to pulse.
He was sound asleep and looked rather pleasant.
I gently stroke his arm, staring at the ceiling. The sound of him crying when I first entered the room played in my mind.
I pushed it out of my mind, and focused on rubbing Miles' arm as gently as I could. It was laid across my stomach, holding onto me lightly.
I leant my head against his, exhaling softly.
"I love you." I whispered softly, pressing a kiss to his forehead.
He stirred slightly and clung to me tightly. I ran a hand through his short hair, pushing into place and making it look cute. I grinned and held Miles closer, feeling him begin to wake up.
"Morning, Al." He mumbled, rolling over and sitting up.
A pout took over my smile as his warmth left me and a small whine left my lips. He laughed at my struggle to remain warm without his arms around me.
"God, you're cute as a button." He said with a laugh.
I felt a heat rise to my cheeks.
"Shut up." I mumbled, letting a laugh escape my own lips.
He shook his head as he rubbed his face. He stood up and stretched, bringing his arms above his head.
His eyes closed as he yawned, and his shirt raised up, exposing a small part of his stomach.
I felt my smile grow wider as I watched the childish man infront of me.
" 'am hungreh." He said suddenly, adjusting his shirt.
"Well, we've got a fridge." I commented, sitting up.
He looked at me and scoffed, "Thank you, Mr.Turner!"
"You're welcome, Mr. Miles Kane." I laughed.
"Let's go out to the main room, yeah?" He suggested.
I nodded in agreement, standing up and stretching, pushing my waist to the side as I did so.
Miles' eyes flashed down to my lower body then back to my face before he turned around and walked out of the room.
After a second of standing there, I followed after him.
I followed him into the main room and sat down on the couch, watching Miles.
"Can ya grab me a water?" I asked softly.
He nodded and threw me a water. I stared at his hips as they swayed side to side while he was making a sandwich. I gulped and opened my water drinking some. The way his hips moved and his bum sticking out just a bit just killed me. I honestly could have died right then and there. He turned back towards me sitting next to me with his sandwich.
Right as he was about to take a bite out of it, I pulled his hand towards me and took a huge bite out of it.
"You bloody git!" He screamed in disbelief. He took his sandwich back and set it down, beginning to hit my arm repetively, in a playful manner.
"How dare you!" He shouted, bubbling with laughter.
"Do yer wannit back?" I slurred, opening my mouth and displaying the chewed up food.
"No! You're disgusting!" Miles shouted, doubling over in laughter, as he hit my arm one more time.
I laughed as I watched his joyous face.
I loved the way his laugh sounded, it was purely contagious, and I loved the way that his face would scrunch up. I especially loved how when he laughed, his mouth would open into a wide grin, his tongue sticking out ever so slightly. He was perfect.
"I hate you!" He laughed one last time as he picked up the sandwich, scooting over on the couch to ensure that I wouldn't steal another bite.
"Get back over here!" I laughed.
I wrapped my arms around his waist, pulling him close to me. He pouted at me, once again about to start eating when I snatched the rest of the sandwich and stuffed it into my mouth. He gasped in shock and slapped my arm.
"YOU UTTER ARSE!" he yelled.
I laughed and mumbled, "Ah was hungreh."
Miles whined and pushed me away with a pout. He got up to make another sandwich. I got up, coming up behind him and wrapped my arms around his waist.
"Don't be mad... I love ya." I murmured, nuzzling into his back. He shuddered.
He didn't say anything back, instead continuing to assemble a second sandwich. I tightened my grip a little more, though I didn't think Miles would notice.
I swayed back and forth gently, closing my eyes and letting out a quiet, content sigh. I enjoyed when Miles let me do this.
It always calmed my nerves.
I knew how to relax but my mind usually raced about something or other when I didn't want it to.
Having my arms around Miles, especially with the addition of swaying, nothing could be better.
After a minute I felt Miles place his hands over my own and I could have swore that he leaned into me for a moment. He pried my arms off of him and walked with his sandwich over to the couch, where he placed it on the table, leant forward, and took a very happy bite out of it.
I let my lips fall into a pout when he pried my hands away. I sat next to him, staring at him with puppy dog eyes and pouting. He continued to ignore me until I let out a whimper.
"Fine." He groaned, opening his arms so I could continue to cling to him.
"Yay!" I squealed, wrapping my arms around his body and cuddling into his chest.
His whole body was so warm compared to mine, his soft cotton shirt made him feel like a pillow. I continued to nuzzle into the man as he finished his sandwich.
He slouched back a bit, letting his hand rest on top of my waist. My head was against his chest, and I closed my eyes for a moment.
I began to think, touching my waist, holding my waist, and just wrapping an arm around me and holding me close to him was something that Miles did a lot.
I liked the feeling, though. It made me feel important.
Miles made me feel important. I was thankful for that.
With that thought, I tightened my grip around him, and he brought his other hand up to my hair, running his fingers through it as he pushed it back.
We both let out what sounded like content sighs as we sat there. I inhaled his scent, letting it calm me down as I relaxed fully into him.
His hands continued to run through my hair. I grumbled in protest but it felt too good to actually ask him to stop. He chuckled and moved his hand down to my waist, pulling me closer against him.
His hand was tight, but it lay comfortably on my hip. Drowsiness overcame me, yet I pushed myself to stay awake.
Miles murmured something in my ear but by that time my ears had decided to stop working. I clung to the man, closing my eyes. I felt him shake me but I ignored him.
I just wanted to sleep in his arms.
I woke up by myself. After a minute, I heard the toilet flush. I heard the water run for a bit before Miles emerged from the small restroom.
"Have I been asleep long?" I yawned.
He shook his head, "No, only a minute, really. I had to go to the bathroom, but you wouldn't let go of me so I waited until you dozed off to make my dash." He explained.
"Oh, I see. Leave me while Im vulnerable." I commented jokingly.
"Al!" Miles laughed as he said my name dramatically.
"No, no! I understand now! My love was for not!" I called out dramatically.
"Stop it!" He laughed.
"Oh, woe is me!" I cried out, falling back on the couch.
"Thanks, Shakespeare!" Miles said, falling onto the couch next to me, bringing his hand around my head and pushing it towards his.
The sides of our heads touched and he rubbed the side of my head, scratching it lightly.
A blush covered my cheeks and I got an idea. I stretched my hands towards his sides tickling him slightly. He squealed and jumped up blushing. A mischievous grin covered my face.
"I'm coming for you Miles!" I yelled, launching myself at him.
He screamed and ran away before I could brush my fingers along his sides.
"Alex, no!" he said between fits of laughter.
"Alex, yes!" I said back.
I launched myself at him again and tickled his sides tackling him down to the ground. He screeched and squirmed under me. Okay maybe this wasn't as good of an idea as I thought. I felt my jeans tighten and I rolled off of him curling up in a ball and laughing nervously.
"Oh no!" Miles started, "You're not getting away with it!" He shouted, while laughing.
My body tensed up and I felt anxiety pulse through me. My hard on wasn't visible yet. My jeans were certainly tight but I know that nothing could be seen. If Miles touched me... Miles tackled me. I felt my chest tighten, and I found it difficult to breathe.
He began to tickle me and I couldn't help but laugh. I needed to cover up my anxiety. I tried to crawl away, but Miles climbed on top of my legs, straddeling them and continuing to tickle me. He didn't sit on my waist but just him straddling me as I fought off his hands made my jeans painfully tight.
"I'm gonna piss myself!" I screamed in between laughs.
"M-Mi! Stop!" I laughed, hoping that my genuine panic was not audible.
Finally Miles let up, and I scrambled to my feet running to the bathroom while small giggles still escaped me.
Miles ran after me but I shut the door and locked it before he could follow me.
"Hey!" he yelled, laughing a bit.
I laughed nervously and sank down to the ground trying to control my breathing. C'mon Alex you can't have a panic attack right now. I took a deep breath and made my mind think of anything but Miles. The tightness in my jeans went down a bit but it was still there.
"Al...Al are you good?" Miles asked softly.
"Yeah I'm fine Mi." I said trying to hide my nerves.
When no movment came from the other side of the door, I came to the conclusion that he was still there. I could practically see the frown on his face in my mind. The idea of him being upset made my jeans return to their normal tightness.
I was no longer turned on, and I was grateful for that.
Had Miles continued, he would have ended up with my lips on his, and a grinding motion in the hips. I need to stop thinking like that.
"Well, get away from the door so I can piss in peace!" I shouted, a bit of calm returning to me.
He laughed and I heard foot steps. I got up, used the toilet, washed my hands, as well as splashing my face, and left the bathroom, finding the living room area to be empty.
I frowned a bit.
"Mi?" I said quietly.
I swear to god if he starts tickling me again I won't talk to him for a week. I looked around the empty space and sighed, collapsing into the couch and turning on the small tv.
"Miles come watch the tele with me!" I called out.
No reply.
Suddenly I heard crashing from the back of the bus and a figure barreled towards me jumping onto the couch with a laugh. I gasped at the impact but immediately started laughing as Miles arms went around me.
His laugh made the smile on my face as wide as it could be. He was on me like I was on him earlier, but only for a moment. He backed up, still laughing a bit as he sat back on the couch.
His arm was touching mine, not that I minded. I flipped through channels, trying to find something to watch that could be interesting. I came across some football, and Miles instantly perked up.
It was Liverpool FC vs. Manchester United. Since Miles was from Liverpool, he instantly began cheering for his team, booing whenever Man United would score anything.
"Cheats!" He shouted as the ref held up a card.
Miles was so revved up that I couldn't help but bust up laughing, Miles looked at me smiling, knowing that his energy was a positive influence on me.
I leaned against him gently and continued to watch the game not particularly interested in the results. Miles continued to make sounds of approval or disapproval depending on who scored. I love watching him get excited. I took his free hand and intertwined it with my own.
He peeked down at me for a second and smiled before putting his attention back to the game. My exhaustion came back from earlier and I closed my eyes letting the sounds of Miles' excitement lull me to sleep.
