I looked up at the ceiling in my room the lights were still on even though it's like 10 pm I got up and looked out the window it was dark and the sky looked a dark shade of blue I put on my jacket and shoes and fixed my hair up a bit it was still kinda blonde but mostly my natural color I didn't mind the blonde now because its my last memory with Johnny now I want it to stay as long as possible I stepped out of my room and everyone stopped talking and started looking at me I walked to the front door as if no one was watching I opened the door and Soda said "hang on pony I'll go with you" then he got up to get his shoes on I didn't really want company but I guess I had no choice "ready?" Soda asked I wanted to say no because I wanted to be alone but I just walked out "so tell me somethin' why have you been acting this way?" Soda asked "huh?" I asked "you know with Dally and Johnny"he said "I don't wanna talk about it you probably think I'm stupid like the rest of them" I said "no pony I don't just tell me" he said I took a deep breath then exhaled then lit a cigarette and said "I've been seeing Dallas and Johnny lately" "really? Where?" Soda asked "everywhere really mainly at the lot for Johnny but for Dally he was at our house" I said "really? I didn't see him" Soda said I coudl tell he was trying to level with me "I was talking to him on the porch that's why I stepped outside youd didn't see him?" I asked "no sorry" Soda said I looked down at my shoes "but I'll be sure to look closely around" Soda said "really?" I asked happy that someone finally believes me "yeah I mean their my friends to I wanna see them"Soda said this made me smile "thanks Soda"I said hugging him he hugged back and said "sure kid we'll look at the DX when I go to work" "alright"I said I was so happy I had to do something so I said "let's go to the track where I practice my running" "alright but stay by me I see some socs" Soda said pulling me closer to him I didn't care about the socs I cared that I finally have someone that believes me and its my brother I knew Soda would come around I just didn't know when but apparently now. "Hey greaser" one of the socs said "back off" Soda said then he flicked his switch and they drove off obviously they weren't looking to get jumped tonight "come on were almost there" I said reaching the park then we made it to the track "time me Soda" I said getting ready to run "alright I'll be a news reporter. We have Ponyboy Curtis making his way to the track ready to win tonight any words on this Sodapop Curtis?" he asked himself I started to laugh "well uh my brother he is-" I cut him off by saying "Soda" "oh right ready. Set. Go" he yelled on go I started running and as I was running I was looking at the stands remembering what it looks like at teack meets for school the crowds cheering me on I once saw Cherry smiling watching me at a meet I always win then I saw someone in the stands it looked like Johnny he was sitting there watching me I was on my second lap and my heart was beating fast cause of my speed "Johnny?" I yelled/asked while running still "pony you got this don't focus on me" he yelled back "run" he added I did as told and sped up I was working on my fourth lap watching Johnny thinking I'm doing this for him "whoohoo Ponyboy!" Two-Bit yelled distracting me I looked back at him "pony no" Johnny said then I looked at him "huh?" I aksed before tripping and falling and getting knocked out by the concrete. After a few hours I saw black and heard voices "he yelled something and then fell" Soda said I groaned of pain in my head I felt like I got the crap beat out of me I didn't want anyone to crowd around me anymore but I had no choice they wouldn't leave I left my eyes closed for about ten minuets they were still there "is he alright?" Soda asked "poor kid" Two-Bit said then someone felt my forehead but I slapped the hand away "pony I have to check if your sick" Darry said I moaned and he felt my head for a few seconds I didn't wanna be touched right now but I guess it didn't matter they wouldn't stop even if I asked then I felt something cold go on my head it felt like a bag full of ice it was put on my head slowly as someone brushed my hair out of my face the ice pack was so cold I took it off and threw it on the floor and said "where's Johnny? Did he see what happened?" It was sorda a whisper because I was in no condition to talk right now "Johnny? Shoot kid you really did hit your head" Steve said I kept my eyes closed because I had a bad headache "no he was there remember Soda?" I asked "sorry I don't" he said "oh" is all I said then I thought of Dallas and how he talked to me on the porch a few hours ago "Did Dally ever come back today? To see me?" I asked I heard someone hold back a laugh or two and I finally decided to open my eyes big mistake because everything was blurry and it was making my headache worst. "Dallas isn't here" Darry said "is he coming over tomorrow?" I asked "no how could he?" Two-Bit asked "he could walk or take buck's car when buck's drunk like he always does when he needs a car" I said starting to sit up on the couch when soda slowly pushed me back down "You really miss them huh?" Two-Bit asked "yeah but I feel that Dally's gonna be here tomorrow to see me" I said then Soda started rubbing my forehead I moved my head for him to get the idea to stop "want some water?" Soda asked heading in the kitchen my mind and eye sight went fuzzy and I saw Dally "Dally? What are you doing here?" I asked "came to see you" he said "me? Why did Johnny tell you?" I asked "yeah he tells me everything he talks about you a lot" Dally said and I said "well we did spend 4 or five days in a church" "yeah you still talk to Cherry?" he asked "not really she's as soc so she's not gonna wanna talk to a greaser like me I guess that night at the movies didn't mean anything" I said he laughed then lit a cigarette "Darry's gonna kill you if you don't take that outside" I said he laughed and stood up and said "feel better" "wait Dallas-" I started but my eyes couldn't stay open any longer and all I saw was black then I fell in a deep sleep.
