Windrexville where me and Johnny went when he comitted a crime I just looked at him and didn't answer he then said "look I know it sounds crazy and all but why not give it a try?" I still didn't answer then all the scenes of Johnny and I being in the church and crying were flodding in my mind then it struck a nerve and I bolted out the door I was crying and I didn't know what to do or where to go "Ponyboy!" Soda yelled I didn't look back I just kept running more tears were streaming down my face like a rainstorm they just couldn't stop I slowed down a little when I got to the park I leaned up against the fountain just like Johnny did that night except he wasn't crying like I was then I remembered when he said that we ain't gonna cry no more and now look at me and Two-Bit wants me to suffer even more. Maybe I shouldn't have even said a word to Darry this morning maybe I should've given Darry the money back because I feel like Two-Bit doesn't miss me I feel like he feels he has to pay me back for the money I gave him, surprisingly the only person that could get me to talk right now is Cherry Valance I finally stopped crying and I thought about Cherry for a while about the smile she gave me after she said I was dreamy about how even when I lost my temper she still was herself then I thought about when she told me to not take it personal if she doesn't say hi to me at school. I sighed and put my elbows on my knees and looked at my shoes I heard voices and looked up and around there she was Cherry Valance with Marcia I swear I'm dreaming because how does she just come after my thoughts I shook it off and got up and started walking towards her as if I don't notice her "Ponyboy?" Cherry asked I smiled and walked closer to her "hi" I said shyly and goofy like I did the first time we met "haven't seen you at school for a while" she said "Cherry I'll be over there" Marcia said pointing where Two-Bit was walking towards us I feel like he was on watch for me "I'm worried about you, you okay?" she asked. I nodded but then looked up at her I couldn't lie to her she's different and she doesn't deserve to be lied to so I said "no. Not at all" "oh well what's wrong? It isn't Johnny is it?" she said in a careful and thouhtful way I nodded she looked down then looked back up and said "look Ponyboy I know its hard and all but you need to get you mind off of it" I nodded and then she said "anyway I know I'm a soc and all but maybe we could hangout" I smiled and said "sure" she laughed lightly and said "well how about tomorrow night?" "yeah" I said smiling still "great" she said then smiled I said "see you tomorrow night, 7 okay?" "yeah fine by me" she said then I smiled again and walked away. Then Two-Bit came up behind me and started walking with me "what'd she want?" he asked I just shook my head no because I didn't want him to know I was going on a date with a soc especially the one that refused to see Johnny when he was in the hospital "she's beautiful huh?" Two-Bit said nudging me I nodded and we walked around some talking well he talked I just listened he finally got me to go to windrexville he's driving me in his truck I'm a little nervous because I don't know if this'll make me sadder or to my old self again but there's only a matter of time before we find out, Two-Bit parks right in front of the church or what's left of it just as Dally parked when the church was on fire he turns off the car and I open the door and walk out.
