Chapter 2

Everyone went off their own ways after my little outburst about being my fault for being here in the first place. I don't blame them. I would do that also if I were just told that you are here in a death game because of your friend. The only ones who stayed by my side were Joe and Sara, who looked over my injuries.

"OW! Sara, that hurts," I yelped in pain.

We were currently sitting in the cafeteria, Sara standing in front of me while Joe sat right next to me. They wouldn't let me go before making sure that I was actually okay. It got to the point that Joe had to pick me up because I refused to be checked.

"Of course it will be," Sara said, "Just keep holding Joe's hand. I'm almost done." Squeezing Joe's hand again, I looked at him. He was looking away, staring at one of the walls in the cafeteria.

"Well, it doesn't look like you broken anything, but I need to keep checking," Sara looked me in the eye, "(Y/N) I need you to take off your shirt."

"What?" My eyes widen, "Why do I have to take off my shirt?"

"You did say to me that your ribs may be broken," I turn my head over towards Joe, "How else are we supposed to check?" His brown eyes looked at me.

"Joe, I was joking."

"Still," Joe said thoughtfully, "We might as well check, just in case." I sighed and let go of his hand.

"Fine, fine, you got me. I'll strip." I start to remove my blue blazer, but I paused, hissing from the pain. Sara walked off to another table, ripping some of the white fabric that was decorating the tables.

"Here, let me help you," feeling a pair of hands gently helping me take off my blazer, "It would be easier if someone helps you." Feeling the blush forming on my cheeks, I turn my head away. It was a lot easier with Joe helping. After taking off my green checkered tie and my beige button-up shirt, I was left with my (f/c) bra and the purple, pink flower pattern skirt.

"Wow, (Y/N)" Sara walked over towards me, white fabric in hand, "Your bruises are starting to show."

"I'm not surprised," I giggled in response, "I did jump out of a window." Joe was once again staring at one of the cafeteria walls, but with a blush forming on his face.

"Big Sis (Y/N)?" I turn my head over towards the voice. There stood little Gin, who was tightly holding his cat plush. Smiling, I walked over to Gin, crouching down to meet his gaze.

"Are you going to be okay?" Gin sniffles, breaking my heart just a bit, "What you did was cool and all, but that was a pretty high fall..." I ruffle his brown hair to help cheer him up.

"Hey, will be okay little man," I stand up, looking over towards the impatient Sara before looking back at him, "I have to get patched up. I'll give you a piggyback ride afterward, okay?" I hold out my pinkie towards him. Gin grins, crossing his pinkie around mine.

After meeting at the zoo, during the weekends, we would hang out. Our mom's agreed that it would be the best thing for both of us. Gin is the only child in his family, always by himself, just like me. They ended up being good friends after our encounter. So after meeting a couple more times, he started calling me Big Sis.

I remember like it was yesterday, him running up to me after his mom agreed on having me over. That day was one of the happiest days of my life, hearing those words. Knowing that I mean so much to someone, even though I didn't know him for that long.

His mom was quite surprised too, but she was happy. Gin never really made many friends at school, always picking at him because of his love for animals. Just having someone there for him and accepting who he is. He is like the little brother I've never had. I'll do anything to make him happy, and right now, giving him a piggyback ride is a key.

"(Y/N), let's get this done and over with," Joe said, who was looking my way, "You shouldn't be walking around like that," I smirked, crossing my arms under my chest.

"So what?" I shrugged, "I'm pretty comfortable being like this." I swore I heard him growl before he marched up to me. Grabbing me by the wrist, he yanked me back towards Sara. Sara got around to checking me out again, poking me a couple of times before wrapping my upper torso.

"Well, good news," Sara said, tieing a knot to keep the makeshift bandage on, "It just looks like you bruised a couple of ribs." Smiling, I grabbed my beige button-up and my blue blazer. After buttoning up my shirt, I tied my blazer around my waist.

"Big Sis!" Gin ran over to me with excitement in his eyes, handing over his plush to Sara, "Can I get that piggyback ride now?" I nodded and crouched down before standing up, now having Gin on my back. I ignored the screaming pain through my body as I felt the weight add onto me. As long as this makes my little bro happy, I'll deal with it.

"Are you sure that you should be doing that right now?" I turn my head towards Crazy Bill Nye, who was crossing his arms across his chest. Next to him was Nao, who was smiling next to him.

"I'll be fine," I smiled before walking over to him, "Gin is a light boy, so it's not that bad." Gin giggles behind me, wrapping his arms around my shoulders tighter. Crazy Bill Nye smiles as he shakes his head.

It didn't take long until everyone was in the cafeteria, wondering what to do next.

"Well," Mr. Policeman Jr. stated, "Should we introduce ourselves?"

"I'll go!" Gin places his head on top of mine, "My name is Gin Ibushi, and this is my Big Sis (Y/N)!" My eyes widen at Gin's outburst, not believing that he is making the first move.

"Yeah," I giggled, "Like Gin said, my name is (Y/N). (Y/N) Sasori is my full name. Nice to meet you."

"So, you guys are or not related?" A girl with tear-drop makeup spoke up. I giggled once more before shaking my head.

"We aren't related, but we are pretty close." A couple of heads nod in approval before going to the next person.

Everyone seemed like they were getting along with no worries. Joe and Sara introduced themselves, stating that the three of us attend the same high school, which was surprising to the others. The baseball pitcher, Q-taro, introduced himself not soon afterward. Crazy Bill Nye introduced himself, which was followed by his former student Nao. It wasn't until the others that I started to pay more attention to it.

"...Name's Reko Yabusame, I'm a singer-songwriter." I could feel my heart stop after hearing her name.

That last name sounds so familiar...

"Oh! I think I've seen you in magazines! You're THE Reko Yabusame?!" Joe interjects excitedly. Reko narrows her eyes at him annoyingly.

"Dude. Is this the time?" Joe apologizes quickly, not trying to get on her wrong side.

"I am Kai Satou," The guy in the red apron states, killing the silence, "I'm a rather unremarkable homemaker."

"What's with the stuff behind you...?" The beanie guy asks.

"It's a frying pan... and a ladle... and a spatula." I stifle a laugh at Kai's response. I didn't expect him to react that way. It was too funny to be true.

"Anyways," Mr. Policeman Jr. stated, "All it is left is you, beanie guy."

"Ah... I should introduce myself too soon, huh." There was a slight pause before he continued.

"My name's Sou Hiyori. Err... well. Just a job-hopper." He laughs nervously. My eyes widen at the name. There is no way that could be his name unless there is someone else with the same name. If it is, then he isn't the one who died two years ago. Just so I don't confuse myself, I'll keep on calling him Beanie Guy.

"So living hand-to-mouth, meow?" Gin asks, taking me away from my thoughts.

"H-Hey... Don't put it like that- It's not a ton, but I've got savings."

"Why wouldn't you introduce yourself at first?" Sara interjects.

"Naturally, I was wary like Joe was," Beanie guy explained, laughing nervously again, "Plus, saying I'm a job-hopper- is a little embarrassing."

"Just make up some lie, meow! You're honest to a fault, woof!"

"Gin!" I scold, "That's not very nice..."

"It's alright, Miss (Y/N)," Beanie guy interjects, "I'm not that ashamed of it." I looked at him confusedly.

This must be some other guy; HE never called me by Miss...

"Actually, I wanted to ask something" Sara walks up to him, "Do you have any memories before arriving here?"

"Gosh, feels like you're asking in such a "first things first" way." Beanie guy grabs his scarf, "I was on the way to my usual part-time job at a convenience store. It's a bad part of town, and I was aware of how dangerous it could be at night- But the night shift wages are good.  Suddenly, someone attacked me. I can't remember what else happened then." He looks at me with a curious look upon his face. Like he was trying to connect the dots in his brain.

"Okay then," Sara smiles, "It's okay if you can't remember anything else. Neither can we."

"Once you get home, go find a job, meow," Beanie guy face pales, Gin's words piercing through him.

"Gin! What did I say about those comments of yours." I scold once again. I heard Gin whimper, nuzzling his head in the crook of my neck with a little apologizes.

"Well," I clear my voice, "Sara did point out something. Do any of you guys remember what happened before you arrived here?" The silence stills in the room.

"W-Well," Gin stutters, " Mom was late coming home, so I stayed up to wait. And I heard the intercom, so I thought she was back and opened the door, meow. A different grown-up was standing there, meow! Don't remember anything else, woof."

Poor Gin...

"A stalker was harassing Sara, so I went home with her that day after my date. During that time, (Y/N) and I was on call." Joe interjects into the conversation, "Then suddenly (Y/N) screams to call the police, so I did. (Y/N) I rushed over to Sara's house with a look of panic. When she asked where Sara and I told her that she was upstairs, she ran inside of the house up the stairs, me following after her. And there stood that damn stalker!" My (e/c) widen, remembering the event. Lowering myself to the ground, Gin jumped off my back.

"W-Wait!" I stuttered, "You saw the stalker? Why didn't you say something earlier?" I stand up, feeling my legs go numb.

"Hehe," Joe scratches his neck, "I didn't have a chance to mention it. So, I worked up all my courage to punch the guy after they got ahold of Sara and (Y/N). 'Course, I'm awful at fighting, so since I don't remember winning, I'm guessing I lost. That's why I know that stalker is the culprit in this case." I stifle a giggle reminding on how clumsy he could be.

"Wow, good job, my knight and my shining armor," I joked.

"I tried my best princess," Joe's eyes narrow with a cute little pout on his face, "There were too many there, so even if I were able to knock out one guy, it wouldn't be fair for me. I was outmatched." I walked over towards him and ruffled his fluffy brown hair.

"Hey, at least you didn't run off scared," I giggled. He grabs my wrist, pulling my hand down from his hair.

"Well, that is interesting. Go on." Mr. Policeman Jr urges.

"Sorry, but that's all I got. Since I fainted, then again, this isn't a stunt. Just one jerk stalker could pull by himself. It's an organized crime. Right, mister cop?"

"Could be," everyone's eyes turn towards me, "Earlier (Y/N), you stated that all of this is your fault?" I felt my blood go cold.

"Hey!" Joe pulls me towards him by my waist, "It can't be her fault! She jumped out of a window to help us!" His grip tightens around me defense.

"You are right, Mr. Policeman Jr.," I sighed, "It is my fault. From as long as I remember, that old man has always been harassing my family."

"Do you know who he is?" I shake my head.

"No, not really. All I know is that my parents were afraid of him because he seemed to have an interest in me." I paused, feeling nausea hit me.

"Your parents were afraid of him?"

"Y-Yeah, I mean, he was the one who arrested my father for treason and killing my mother." The room goes dead silent.

"Y-Your mom-" I nod, looking up to Joes widen eyes.

"He told me before he was going to kill me. That is when I snapped and jumped out of the window..." I felt my body shake in anger.

"I'm alone now." I look over to everyone else, "I couldn't let him take what I now have left." I look over towards the scared lifeless girl in worry. Knowing that she isn't handling the situation well. I walk over to the scared dull girl, freeing myself from Joe's grasp, and kneel to her level.

"Hey..." I whispered, my voice filled with worry and softness. The little girl looked up at me, showing her lifeless tear-stained green eyes.

"My name is (Y/N) Sasori." I smile softly, tipping my head to the side, "What's your name, pretty girl?" Her green eyes spark up with life before dimming but stayed silent.

"Are you okay? If you don't want to talk to me, I can wait-"

"Kanna Kizuchi... Your Big Sis (Y/N), right?" My eyes widen in realization before glancing at her screw clip.

"Y-Yeah, I am..." My eyes look down to her eyes once more, "Can you tell me more about yourself? It seems like you know me..."

"I-I'm in middle school..." I heard footsteps walk up behind me before stopping.

"It's okay, you don't need to rush," Sara says, kneeling next to me.

"I was coming home with my big sister. We were eating ice cream. We were just walking along and talking about what to have for dinner. Suddenly some scary people came out from a black car parked on the road..."

"That must have been scary for you, Kanna," I stated, smiling. She nodded then looked over at Sara.

"What happened after you came, if you don't mind me asking?" Sara asked.

"Here? After I came-" Her body starts to shake, "M-My sister..." My heart dropped already knowing her answer. All of a sudden, Kanna starts screaming, her eyes turning dark.

"She's dead!! My sister! Why?! How?! It's my fault! My sister!!" Screaming a deathly scream. Soon afterward, she fainted, her body landing on the ground. My eyes widen in horror, tears running down my face. Joe runs over towards us before he held me in an embrace.

This is my fault...

"Dammit, this is some messed up shit! She DIED?! What the hell this poor girl do, huh?! Does this culprit even got a heart?!" I heard Reko yell.

"Seems like... this isn't some joke or a prank."

"I... I don't like this... This is too awful... just too..."

"Hey, now, everybody, don't lose your cool." Mr. Policeman Jr. states, "You've got your friendly policeman here."

"Hey, Keiji! You're the reliable one here! What should we do?!" I look up to Joe, him looking back at me. The look of horror both placed upon our faces.

"You've sure changed your tune. Well, first things first. Why don't we confirm what each of us has found in this place?"

"That sounds like a good plan."

"Zat's just what I was thinkin' of saying! See, I picked up this thing." I look over at Q-taro, seeing what he held a large box.

"It's a huge box, meow!"

"Bet you could fit a whole watermelon in there..." Nao commented.

"Was this from the First Trial?" Beanie guy asked.

"Yep. Though I mean, bringin' this box was the point of the First Trial..." I reached my hand to my pocket, feeling the cool silver device.

Should I tell them about this? I don't even know what this is...

"Say what?! Did some people have different First Trials?" Joe exclaimed, taking me away from my thoughts.

"We can discuss that later. First off, let's open up this box." Mr. Policeman Jr. walked up to Q-taro. He takes the box from Q-taro, looking over the box.

"It ain't gonna. It's got these keyholes, see?"

"Sara, do you have any ideas?" Mr. Policeman Jr. turns towards Sara.

"Wha...! Me?" Sara's eyes widen, not expecting to be called out.

"I just like catching you off-guard." Mr. Policeman smirks, liking Sara's reaction. Sara took out a key from her pocket and walked over towards the two guys. Placing the key in one of the holes and turning it, looking like it fit in perfectly.

"My key works for the lock. Does anyone else have a key?" Nao and Crazy Bill Nye hold out a key, handing it over to Sara. I looked over towards Kanna, remembering about her trial. I escaped Joe's grip and looked for the key on Kanna. Her pocket held a red key, which I guess goes in one of the locks in the box. I walked over to Sara, passing the red key over to her. She places the key into the last lock twisting it before it popped open.

"Alright, this might be dangerous, so leave it to the policeman." He opens the box before freezing.

"What's inside the box?"

"You may not want to look" Everyone's eyes widen, some even screaming. I just stood there, already knowing what it is. It looks very familiar to a doll I used to have when I was little.

"Wait- Isn't that just a doll's head?" Beanie guys chips in. Everyone stops freaking out, realizing that he was right.

"Oh, you're right. Hm? A letter?" Mr. Policeman Jr. reached for the letter, but I had already taken it.

"Find my body. Bring me back. For I don't have arms or legs." I read out loud. "So it's like a build-a-bear, but instead, we are building a doll?" I look up towards everyone. Everyone chuckles due to my comment.

"Find her body?" I nod.

"Where could the body be?" Kai asked.

"Do we even need to find it, meow? This could be a trap, woof!"

"That's true." Beanie guy interrupts, "I don't think there's any need to do what the letter says. Though I think it's about time we search outside of this room?"

"I-Isn't that dangerous?"

"I wanna get back home. Can't stand to jus' sit still here."

"How about we move in groups?" Joe inputs.

"So that no one does anything suspicious. Right?" Everyone nods, agreeing with Joe and Mr. Policeman Jr.

"I'm scared," Nao sniffs, "If there's some other horrible device like the First Trial..."

"Nao and I can look after Kanna." Reko states, walking over to Kanna, "If you guys are in danger, haul ass back here."

"Joe," Sara walks up to Joe, "Come search with me..." Joe looks at Mr. Policeman and me before looking back at Sara.

"Sorry, man! I'm goin' with Keiji." Joe looks at me, "Wanna join us (Y/N)?" I shook my head.

"Nah, you guys go. I'm not in any condition to do anything," I lied, "I'm just going to rest somewhere. My body is killing me." He nods before leaving with Mr. Policeman Jr. I walk over to the other side of the cafeteria, where it was semi-dark. A place that Reko and Nao can still see me but also being alone at the same time. I took out the device as soon as most of everyone left the cafeteria.

This would be a good time to check out that silver device...
