Taken
Maybe it was telling that Izuku felt little more than a light sprinkling of fear after being kidnapped. Perhaps the lack of fear came from the fact that the people who stood in front of him looked like nothing more than business people, angrily glaring at a delinquent for interrupting their lunch. Izuku knew that he could easily take them out without trying, but he didn't dare attempt to escape, not when danger sense was pinging in the back of his mind. There was something outside of the door that posed a great threat to him, and he wasn't keen on finding out what that was.
"Is there a reason that you've kidnapped me?" Izuku sighed heavily. He couldn't even say he was surprised, the League of Villians was bound to come after him through the Hero Safety Commission at some point.
"You're a danger to the good civilians who live out there. Not to mention, you were expelled from UA, therefore you were trespassing." one of the women in the room replied snootily, she glared imperiously at him down her long nose.
"I haven't done anything to be considered a danger to the general public, you're making stuff up," Izuku said monotonously, "Secondly, UA has custody of me, the withdrawal of custody was never fully carried out, therefore, you've just kidnapped me from my current legal guardian. Well done."
Izuku was tired, and when he was tired he got snarky. He had never been the perpetually sweet and innocent boy some people seemed to see him as, but his more passive-aggressive side seemed to rear its head whenever he was under stress or seriously lacking in the sleep department.
A few looks were exchanged amongst the business people, they looked nervous as if it was news to them that Izuku was legally a ward of UA still. They hadn't anticipated that UA would so blatantly go against their orders. At least, they viewed it that way. UA had, in fact, expelled Izuku, they simply hadn't ejected him from their premises.
"Never mind that," a man boomed, "You are now in the custody of the Hero Safety Commission, so you will follow everything we say!"
"After you've just kidnapped me? Sure, I'm going to be really cooperative." Izuku sneered sarcastically, "And, really, I'm not under the control of the Safety Commission, I'm under the control of the LOV. They made you do this, right?"
If the occupants of the room had looked surprised before, they looked positively gob-smacked after Izuku revealed that little piece of information. Panic and horror were the clear expressions that had cemented themselves onto all of their faces.
"How did you-" somebody started breathlessly, but before they could finish they were interrupted by the bang of the door being thrown open. From the brightly lit hallway, the ring-leader of the entire operation strutted in with confidence he had lacked when Izuku had first laid eyes on him.
Maybe Izuku hadn't been scared when he was confronted by a couple of suit-wearing adults, but he could feel the icy hands of fear slowly working up his spine at the scene that confronted him now. It was instinctual. He had been scared at the USJ and he was scared now.
"Well done, Midoriya Izuku," cackled Shigaraki, "You managed to use that brain of yours and draw a connection. The question now is, what do you think we're gonna do to you?"
"Shit, shit, shit!" Katsuki screamed as he paced the common room floor. All of his classmates sat on various surfaces around him wearing the same devastated and broken look as him.
"Please, sit down, bro." Kirishima pleaded, "We get that you're angry, but pacing won't get Midoriya back."
"Y'think I don't know that, asshole!" Katsuki growled venomously, "It's my fucking fault that he's gone. I was right there!"
"Bakugo, you can't possibly blame yourself for this," Todoroki started in his usual measured tone, though his face wasn't as blank as usual, it was tinged with grief and fear. "I doubt the outcome would have been much different had it been any of us in there with him."
"Is that meant to comfort me? All of you are shit!" Katsuki yelled scathingly before he marched off towards the kitchen with heavy steps.
He appreciated his friends (he shuddered even thinking about that sappy word, friends) trying to help him, but he was too worked up. Just like with the fall of All Might, Katsuki was right there, he should have done something more to stop the events from playing out as they did, but he was still too weak. Too weak to protect his boyfriend from some mediocre asshole playing ninja.
With angry vigour, Katsuki set about doing the washing up which had piled up from dinner that evening. None of his classmates had done it, and he needed a distraction. Washing up was a therapeutic task, it was boring and mind-numbing, perfect for soothing the simmering anger the boiled under Katsuki's skin, just waiting to be unleashed onto the assholes who thought they could break into his room and kidnap his boyfriend.
They knew who had done it, of course, it wasn't rocket science. The Hero Safety Commission was behind the kidnapping of Izuku, with the League of Villains most likely ordering them to do so. There were certain people from the commission who had unlimited access to UA, for example, the president of the commission. And, unsurprisingly, the security bots on the front gate logged the president entering UA's premises only fifteen minutes before Izuku was kidnapped.
Katsuki didn't know how an entire organisation made to keep both heroes and the public safe had fallen into the hands of a villainous group. If the very centre of power for their hero society was this corrupt and weak, what did that say for them as heroes?
"Hey, Bakugo..." the hesitant voice of Uraraka squeaked from near the archway into the kitchen. Katsuki merely grunted in reply, he didn't want to unleash a verbal lashing onto her, he already felt guilty about snapping at Todoroki and Kirishima (he never thought he'd see the day that he developed enough empathy to actually give a shit about people's emotions.)
"... Just know that we're all worried too. We're all going through this together, sure it might seem worse to you because he's your boyfriend and childhood friend, but... he was special to all of us as well. He's the best friend we could ask for, and he's been taken." Uraraka gained confidence as she spoke. Her chocolaty eyes stared firmly into the vermillion of Katsuki's. It was a challenge. A challenge to deny her, to dispute her words.
"Whatever..." Katsuki tutted. He didn't feel like arguing anymore. All he wanted was to storm the commission and take his boyfriend back. He just wanted Izuku back.
Of course, Katsuki couldn't simply storm into the commission by himself and steal his boyfriend back. It wasn't as easy as that, because nothing in Katsuki's life since entering UA had been easy. It was like being accepted into the school had cast a curse upon everybody in Katsuki's class.
"Bakugo!" Aizawa huffed, effectively snapping Katsuki out of his dour revelry, "Pay attention please."
Katsuki simply grumbled under his breath and looked up at the blackboard at the front of the class. It looked like Aizawa was lecturing about something that Katsuki couldn't care less about, but he gave the illusion he was paying attention, regardless, he wasn't in the mood to put up with Aizawa's chastising.
Despite Izuku being absent from class for a few days now, Katsuki still wasn't used to his absence. It's not until something you take for granted has been taken from you that you truly appreciate what it meant to you. Never before did Katsuki think he would miss the nerd's distracting muttering behind his back. It had been a constant presence throughout the majority of Katsuki's life, and now in the wake of Izuku's kidnapping, Katsuki couldn't help but feel like a piece of himself had been taken with him. It just didn't feel right to be sitting in class without Izuku's commentary behind him.
"And finally, before Ectoplasm arrives for your maths lesson," Aizawa finally drew the morning briefing to a close, "I know that the majority, if not all of you, will want to rescue Midoriya. I share your sentiment, trust me, but we can't simply rush into this without a well thought out plan. The League of Villains is most likely part of this entire situation and we must be cautious."
Aizawa looked around the room as he spoke, his gaze lingered slightly on certain people in the room. Iida. Kirishima. Yaoyorozu. Todoroki. Uraraka. Katsuki.
"I trust you to heed my words and not do anything stupid. We will be keeping an especially close eye on all of you, not just so that you can't sneak out on a suicide mission, but also to keep the rest of you as safe as possible. Understood?" Aizawa announced in his usual monotonous voice.
"Yes, Aizawa Sensei!" the class chanted in reply. Aizawa nodded his head and exited the room, no doubt to have his morning nap.
As soon as Aizawa was out of the door, the class exploded into worried murmurs.
"What are we going to do, we won't be able to escape to save him!"
"If the League is involved, it's gonna be more serious than we originally thought."
"Maybe we should just listen to the teachers, it's best not to go into this without a plan."
Katsuki listened to these various conversations with a scowl on his face. There was truth to what many of his classmates were saying. They couldn't go into this without a plan, especially with the League's involvement. But, even if logic dictated that he shouldn't barrel in head-first with his quirk ablaze, Katsuki still wanted to storm the commission and take back his boyfriend. It was taking all of his restraint and common sense to not follow through with his desire. But, Katsuki knew the longer he was forced to wait, the less restraint he would be able to force upon himself.
After Shigaraki had appeared to gloat, Izuku was left alone in the dreary room. In all honesty, Izuku would rather be left alone in the damp room than be in the presence of any of the League members or the stiff faced business people who attempted to be intimidating (but failed miserably). The only problem with being left alone in a room by himself was... Izuku was dreadfully bored. That didn't come as a surprise, of course, he had been sat in the same four grey walls for over six hours. Six long, boring, monotonous hours.
Those six hours had given Izuku a lot to think about, they had also given him ample opportunity to escape. Which he had, to a certain extent. The villains had been smart enough to put quirk restraining cuffs on him, but that didn't strip Izuku of his natural strength. It had been a bit harder than it would have been seeing as he didn't have use of his quirk, but Izuku managed to snap the rope with his raw strength. That solved the problem of being tied to a chair, but Izuku was still handcuffed, and without the use of his quirk, there was no way that he would be able to break through the door and fight off the League lackeys that were positioned outside.
Well, Izuku thought of one way he could break out, but it was rather drastic and would most likely end with him being captured regardless. Izuku could (hypothetically) dislocate his shoulders to bring his hands to the front of his body, which would make it easier to break the rusted and faulty handcuffs on a wall, which would mean that Izuku would have his quirk back, which would mean he could escape. The adrenaline would numb the pain of dislocating (if not breaking) his shoulders and possibly his wrists, there was the possibility that Izuku could escape, but... it relied almost solely on luck. Such an attempt would most likely get him recaptured and tortured.
No. As much as it pained him, Izuku knew that he would need to bid his time.
It took far too long for somebody to come and retrieve Izuku. So long, in fact, that all of the fear of the situation had been washed away by pure boredom. Perhaps his kidnappers had intended to leave him stewing in his fear so that they might break him easier, however, they had left him for too long. Fear gave way to irritation and a willingness to speak (that had never been fully present anyway) disappeared in favour of a desire to annoy others so that Izuku might relieve himself of his pent up frustration.
It was a suited woman who finally entered the room to the sight of Izuku laying on the floor, staring at the ceiling out of pure boredom. Upon hearing the door open, Izuku allowed his head to flop to the side. Momentarily, he was blinded by the harsh, artificial light of the hall, but it only took a second for his eyes to adjust so that he could see the pale-faced look of shock on the woman's face.
"How?" the woman stuttered, "How did you break out? Those handcuffs should be blocking your quirk!"
"The rope was fraying," Izuku answered honestly with a shrug before he returned to staring up at the ceiling out of boredom.
"Stand up." the woman ordered after she had regained some of her composure, "You are going to have a meeting with the LOV."
With a forlong sigh, Izuku rolled over and pushed himself up. In all honesty, he was glad that he could leave the oppressive room, the four concrete walls had been pressing down on him for the past few hours and he wasn't too fond of the tight feeling of claustrophobic panic that had settled in his chest.
When Izuku managed to push himself onto his feet, he had a single second wherein everything was normal- or as normal as things could be given his situation, before he abruptly went blind. Izuku's heartbeat stuttered and stammered in his chest, though he desperately tried not to outwardly show his fear, he internally felt like he was on the verge of breaking down.
"My quirk has temporarily blinded you, " the woman spoke from somewhere to his left, "Your sight will be restored when we arrive at our destination. Hold still."
That was the only forewarning Izuku got before a large hand, that certainly didn't belong to the woman, clamped down on his left bicep and started guiding him. Izuku tripped and stumbled as he valiantly attempted to walk at the same brisk pace of his guide, but without his sight, he was like a newborn calf.
"Walk properly, kid!" a gruff voice snapped after Izuku had to be picked up from the floor for the third time. Izuku tried his hardest to keep the scowl from his face at the person's words. He held his tongue in an effort to not reply with the snappy retort on his tongue.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Why don't you try walking properly after you've been robbed of your vision and you've been stuck in a dark concrete room for over six hours? Let's see how you manage!" Izuku grumbled in his mind, he was sure to keep his lips firmly shut as he did so.
They walked for perhaps a total of ten minutes, and in those ten minutes, Izuku could tell that they walked in circles, up and down the same staircase and possibly even outside at one point. All in all, what was a ten-minute journey would have, at most, taken three minutes had the person guiding him not taken the most contrived way possible in an effort to confuse Izuku. It was a good strategy, Izuku had to admit.
When the two of them finally came to a stop, Izuku felt a tingly sensation at the back of his eyes and his vision started returning, bit by bit. To say that it was a relief to have the gift of sight back would be a huge understatement. Izuku couldn't find the emotions to describe just how thankful he was that he could see everything again. Although, once he looked at his pig-like guard, he wished his vision had stayed away for a bit longer so that he didn't have to come face to face with the man's beer covered vest and bloodshot eyes. Izuku had to consciously stop himself from recoiling at the ghastly sight.
"In." the man grunted, gesturing with disinterest towards the heavy iron door in front of them. Izuku obeyed without question, he would rather not get shoved through the doorway by the stinky man beside him.
The iron door slammed closed behind him, leaving Izuku stood in, yet another, pitch-black room. Before Izuku even had the chance to sigh and lament the fact that he was spending so much time in the dark (both literally and figuratively) the lights flickered on, showing the other occupants of the room.
Lounging around a crescent moon shaped table, all of their eyes glued firmly to Izuku, were the main players of the League of Villains. Shigaraki, Toga, Dabi, Twice, Spinner and Mr Compress all looked at Izuku with evil glee in their eyes and sneers (or Toga's case, a beaming smile full of bloodlust and admiration) stretching across their mouths.
"Mirodiya Izuku," Shigaraki said in his usual hoarse voice, "It's a pleasure to see you again."
"Hi, Izuku!" Toga chirped, "Now that you're here, we can spend all day together! Maybe we should get Ochako next so that I can be with both of you! that would be amazing."
Izuku stood, frozen in place as all of the blood drained from his face. He knew he would be coming face to face with the members of the LOV, the lady in the other room had said as much, but he hadn't fully digested that information. He hadn't allowed himself to comprehend what that meant for him.
"Look, he's scared shitless." Dabi sneered, "You're not much without your quirk, are you, Deku?"
The rest of the League let out jeering remarks and mocked Izuku, but he wasn't listening. He was too paralysed with his fear. The question 'What do they want?' constantly played on loop in his mind taking up all the space that would otherwise be thinking logically.
"That is a marvellous question, what do we want?" Mr Compress hummed.
"We want to dismantle this backwards hero society, of course," Dabi answered the intended hypophora. Mr Compress shot a glare towards the teal-eyed man.
"But how will we do that?" Spinner grumbled.
"We'll do it by using Izuku, obviously!" Toga cheered.
"We'll use you, Midoriya Izuku," Shigaraki finished the villains' little charade, "whether you like it or not."
Katsuki felt a shiver go down his spine. His Deku Senses (as his idiotic friends had dubbed the off phenomena) were tingling. Something was wrong with Izuku. If Katsuki had been agitated before, then he didn't know what to call the emotions he was experiencing now. Katsuki desperately wanted to bust into the Hero Safety Commission and kick all of their asses until he got his boyfriend back, but Aizawa and the rest of the teachers were keeping class 2A under heavy surveillance. There was no way that he could escape to bringIzuku back without his teachers catching him and sending him straight back to the dorms with his head hanging. Katsuki just wanted to get his boyfriend back, was that so much to ask for?
This might be the only update for the month, I have 0 motivation. I wish I could write, but I've had no desire to do so recently and seek no enjoyment out of it. If I manage to actually get the next chapter to a decent length, I might post, but who knows?
Anyway, thank you for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day wherever you are. Also, Happy New Year!
