The Emperor's Twin
by Patricia T. Banzuela
In the town of Seika, nestled at the feet of the Great Wall of China, a diverse crowd gathered, drawn by the rumor of a hermit known for helping countless citizens and adventurers alike. Among the onlookers was Jung Feing, the loyal attendant of the Prince, tasked with discreetly visiting the fabled hermit. However, he couldn't ignore the startling resemblance between the hermit and his Lord, Prince Liu Zhuang. Having served the Prince since infancy, Jung Feing was certain he couldn't mistake his face.
In private conversation, the hermit and Jung Feing confirmed the striking similarity and unearthed evidence of the missing general named Son Jang. Shao, raised by the hermit Woshi, overheard previous guests referring to him as General Son Jang.
Driven by a quest for truth, Shao and Jung Feing embarked on a journey to discover Shao's roots. Despite facing numerous challenges, Shao finally set foot in the palace where his true family resided.
However, the palace guards, acting on the Emperor's orders, barred their entry. Jung Feing was sent away, leaving Shao to confront the guards alone. Using his intellect, Shao cleverly outmaneuvered and defeated the soldiers without relying on sheer strength.
Even facing thousands of soldiers couldn't halt Shao's determined advance. Ultimately, Prince Zhuang confronted his brother, proposing a match in front of their father. If Shao won, they would hear him out; if he lost, he would depart without a word.
The intense battle unfolded, pitting Shao against the strength and strategy of his elder twin, Zhuang. Despite moments of despair, Shao found the inner strength to persevere whenever he glimpsed his twin brother's face.
In a surprising turn, Shao discovered an opening, resulting in a draw. Prince Zhuang, acknowledging his brother's wisdom, peaceful mindset, and strong will, expressed his desire for Shao to be the next heir to the throne.
Zhuang's wish was granted by Emperor Han Guangwudi, breaking the belief in the misfortune of twins. The kingdom witnessed the emergence of twin sons, one endowed with incredible wisdom and a good heart for maintaining peace, and the other possessing the leadership and strength to command the army.
