CHAPTER II
We reached home and found Ryan making my favorite pasta. I squealed happily and ran to hug him.
"Ow, Brooke, take it easy girl." He laughed.
"You are making pasta, how can you even expect me to keep calm?" I stated happily.
"Got the point. Go get changed and we will eat together. Max will be home soon." He told us and we went to change.
After changing into comfy clothes we came downstairs. Allie went to help Ryan with table and Max was just lazily sprawled over sofa so I joined him too.
"SO how was the first day of school?"
"Good but some boys pranked us." I told Max.
"What? What you did then?" he was little annoyed.
"Allie was about to cry and I wanted to kick their asses." I clenched my fist.
"Bastards!" Max was also angry because he didn't like it when Allie was upset.
"Allie bear, what is she saying?" Ryan asked Allie but she wasn't listening. She was deep in her thoughts.
"Allie?" Max called her and she looked at him.
"What are you thinking?" he asked and Allie just shook her head. Max went to her and took her hands in his,
"Allie, you need to stay strong. You know, people are mean and selfish but you should stand for yourself. I know you don't like it when people are mean to you but believe me world out there is cruel and you need to be strong."
Allie nodded and hugged Max.
"What were you thinking?" he asked softly.
"Mom-dad." She mumbled and I clenched my fist tightly. My breathing became ragged but Ryan noticed it and he came to me.
"Shh... calm down, Bree, we are here. You don't need him. We are your parents." He said and I nodded.
"So let's go and eat." Ryan changed the subject and we all nodded.
"So what was the prank?" Max asked suddenly as Ryan shot him a look.
"They put frog in our locker." Allie said and dropped her head again.
"I need a plan to get back at them." I mumbled.
"Well, I think I got one." Max wiggled his eyebrows and an evil smile spread on my lips.
It resulted in groans from Ryan and Ally both. We laughed on that. After dinner, Max explained the plan and I was more than happy to have him as my adviser.
"That's too cool." I laughed loudly.
"I know, I'm the best." He smirked and we both shared a hi-five.
"You know, I'm glad that you both took us in. so thank you." I said as a matter of fact.
"Come on Brooke, you two are adorable and I'm happy that we are sharing our life with you because you never judged us." He smiled.
"I did. I was always uncomfortable with your... you know... "
"But finally you gave in, right?"
"Yeah, because of Allie. She never sees any bad in anyone so she made me look at you differently and it worked and I'm glad it did."
"I'm glad too."
"In all these years, it's the first place where I felt like I'm home. After whatever he did, I thought people would never look past that but you did."
"Maybe we all needed just that small piece of heart and we found it. I'm happy that you feel safe here." He smiled genuinely and I couldn't stop but hugged him tightly.
"Thank you for everything." I mumbled and he just chuckled.
"Go get some sleep, you have school tomorrow." He said.
"I forgot to tell you one thing, I got a job at a diner near school and Ally is going to work in library. It is on my way only."
"That's great. You are starting tomorrow?"
"Yes, we are. Give us best luck." I smiled widely and he chuckled.
"Yeah yeah, whatever. Go sleep. Good night." He pushed me upstairs and I had a big smile on my face when I reached our room. Allie was reading something and I jumped on her bed.
"Brooke, I'm reading."
"Keep it. Tomorrow is gonna be so much fun." I squealed and she just rolled her eyes.
"I don't want to listen." She covered her ears and I rolled my eyes.
"Ok then, see you tomorrow. Good night." I smiled cheekily and kissed her cheek.
"Good night, Brooke." She said softly and turned off the lamp.
Next day was cheerful. I had already called Caleb asking for some important details like Nathan's and Asher's locker number and all. Then I bribed Ally into hacking the school system for their locker number. Allie was really good with those kinda things. Badass, right? But she wasn't willing to do this but finally she gave in too. It took half an hour to get their locker numbers as she already logged herself in system the day before. We reached school before everyone and I broke into their locker. Yeah sounds fun, right? But Allie was literally sweating and I found it really funny. I kept water balloons in their lockers with a small needle which would prick the balloon as soon as locker is opened. Max gave me all the right training about how to keep the things together. I was just laughing myself like stupid. I closed the lockers carefully and ran towards cafeteria.
When bell rang, I dragged Allie to their locker to see the show which was about to start. I saw Asher and Nathan coming in all their glory as girls was trying hard to get their attention. To my luck, they both went to locker at the same time. Nathan was the first one to open up his locker and in one swift moment, balloon popped and all colorful water was on his white shirt. People around them gasped as I couldn't control my laugh and I started laughing. Allie was smiling too but she was trying to control her expressions.
There was dead silence in hallway just my laugh was booming in it. Asher made one of the freshmen to open his locker and same thing happened with him. They both turned towards me and glared at me. Trust me if looks could kill, I would have been dead by now. They were scowling as well as the crowd there especially the female population. I saw Caleb at the end as his fist was in his mouth to control his laughter. I just smirked at him.
"Who the fuck you think you are?" Nathan's voice boomed in the whole hallway and everyone visibly flinched at his tone. I just rolled my eyes.
"Name is Brooke and it was just a 'thank you' prank to answer your 'welcome' one." I smiled sweetly at him and turned on my heels to leave.
I could feel glares on my back but I didn't care. That asshole deserved this. Allie was little worried about what would happen next but I couldn't care less. We came in classroom and sat in the middle. It was Spanish lecture. After few minutes students arrived and some of the girls were giving us disgusting looks. I just ignored them but Allie was uncomfortable and that's when two assholes entered the classroom. Shit! Do we share this class? I groaned and Allie kicked me lightly.
"What?" I hissed.
"That's enough. It's our second day here and everyone already hates us. So just stop acting like a typical girly girl." She whispered quietly. I just nodded and gave her cheeky smile. They both came inside but I was hoping for scowl and glare but all I got was devil's smirks.
"Something is wrong." I mumbled under my breath.
Shockingly they both took seats behind us, specifically Asher behind Allie and Nathan behind me. They didn't say a word which was really disturbing. Allie didn't even look at anyone. Soon, teacher came and started with the lecture. I could feel their stares behind our back. Suddenly there was a hot breath on my neck which made me shiver,
"Whatever you did today was quite impressive but trust me you just wished for something worse." It was Nathan. I just flicked him off. He chuckled and turned towards Allie.
"Well, what would I do to you? I mean I know what I'm going to do to Brooke but I'm not quite sure about you." He said.
Allie froze in her place as I saw her fidgeting with her fingers. I turned back and glared at him.
"Allie had no part in that so keep her away from this." I stated. He looked amused as he looked at Asher who was smiling smugly at me.
"She didn't even stop you anyway." Asher stated.
"She did, okay? It was my idea."
"Oh she did?" Nathan looked amused again as he turned towards Allie which made my fists clenched.
"IS she deaf or what? Or she doesn't know how to stand for herself?" he questioned her. It looked like Allie stopped breathing but I could tell her heart was beating faster than normal human.
"We... We're sorry, okay?" she mumbled, "Just leave us alone."
"Oh my god, the princess can talk." Nathan exclaimed.
"Of course she does. Maybe it's just because her sister doesn't give her a chance to speak." Asher piped in and I glared at him.
"What do you want?" I asked finally.
"You will see that soon." Nathan winked and turned to look at the teacher who was already glaring at us. Double shit goes down!
"Miss Davis, get out now." He yelled.
"But..." before I could reply he glared at me.
"They were talking." I pointed at Nathan and Asher who had innocent looks on their faces.
"Oh, we didn't. We were just telling her not to talk in between lecture. You know, it's disturbing for students who really want to study." Asher said calmly and I glared at him.
"He is lying." I yelled but got yelled back,
"Out." I huffed and took my bag. I was about to leave when Nathan smiled sickly sweet and said,
"Don't worry. We will keep Allison a good and friendly company."
My eyes widened. There was no way Allie could handle those reincarnations of Lucifer. Her eyes were wide too and she was pleading me not to leave her alone. I gave her a small apologizing smile and left the room. I was worried about her but it could have landed me in one more detention so I left without causing some more drama. I went to detention room and sat there waiting to ring the bell. If they cause Allie any trouble, I would have killed them. Minutes went like hours and finally bell rang. I ran to classroom and stopped when I saw Asher was talking to Allie and she looked uncomfortable. Then I saw something unexpected, he smiled. Really, smiled, not his usual smirk or anything, a genuine smile. I gawked at him. Trust me; he looked really hot with that kinda smile. Allie's gaze found me and she smiled in relief. Asher turned with his usual smirk on his face as he winked at me before leaving us but not without saying,
"I will see you around, Allie."
"It's Allison." I couldn't stop but say. He turned towards me and quirked his eyebrow,
"What?"
"Her name is Allison and she is Allison to you. Only people who care about her can call her Allie." I stated looking straight in his eyes.
"Oh, didn't know that. Sorry, Allie, it won't happen again." he smiled at Allie who looked amused. He left us and I went to Allie.
"What was he saying?" I asked agitatedly.
"Where do we live and all..."
"Did you tell him about...?" I trailed off.
"Foster care? No. I didn't." she smiled and linked our arms walking towards our next class.
The day went well after that and we headed to our jobs. Allie went to library and I came to diner. The first day was okay. Crowd was less so it was cool actually. That day started well and ended well. All I didn't knew was next day was gonna be little twisted.
