Chapter 8: Coming back to Mihama Middle School
Akaria was wearing a light-blue shirt and pants. He was actually relieved about not going to Mihama Middle School alone this time.
"Come on, Akaria, we'll be late!" Himai declares as she was putting on her clothes.
He said, "Coming, coming! Geez, it's been a week since I reached the surface, you know. I wonder if in school going to be different."
Silla puts her hand around his shoulder, "It's going to be fine, cuz. You'll be in the same class as us, so there is nothing to be concerned about."
He nods at his cousin's words as if it comforts him, as a truck honks at them really early in the morning.
"Yo, Silla, Himai, you guys need a lift to school?" Akaria couldn't believe his eyes as he points his finger at him, "No way, is that really you, Sayama?"
The man said, "Wow, when Hikari said that you were back Akaria, I couldn't believe him. It has been a while."
Himai said, with a pure smile, "Thanks for the lift, Sayama. It would spare the time."
They hopped inside the truck as Himai was remained silent during the ride.
"It's a great surprise, wasn't it?" Silla asks, interrupting the silence, "I still couldn't believe that Akaria actually woken up from his hibernation.
I wonder what Uma is like when I met him. "
Himai still shivers from that night, remembering the horrible experience seeing her friend for the last time before he went into hibernation.
Silla asks, "Is something wrong, Himai?"
The teacher said, "Think of him as a student who has come from a long break, or as a transfer student.
This is Akaria Shiodome, and he will joining us this school year."
Akaria bows his head respectfully, but said, "I'm here to repeat this class since I left for hibernation.
Since I'm much older than you, you better treat me with respect, ok?!?"
The class chuckled as the teacher said, "Well, you can see how he is, so make sure that you make him welcomed, is that clear?"
Himai and Silla sat in their desks as Himai said, "It seems like Akaria is being himself, well, trying to."
Silla shrugs, "Yeah, but Octopus head still needs all the support he needs , since he is in our class now."
Himai turns to Silla with a curious look, "Octopus head, huh? I never heard that in a while. I recall that is your dad's nickname that Sayu used when they met."
Silla scoff, "It's a family trait, Himai. Besides he is an Octopus head, just like Dad used to be."
She said to her other classmates, "Octopus head is still in shock of this, so don't give some attention, ok?"
That is when Akaria was stunned of his cousin's words, "Woah, Octopus head, huh? I haven't heard that nickname in a while since Uncle Hikari was around."
Silla groans in annoyance as Himai thought to herself, "It would be great to see Uma and Shelby again.
Having Akaria around, brings me hope that we'll reunite someday, but am I really ready for that, after spending five years without them?"
Aki , looks in jealousy of seeing Akaria and Silla together, as the classmates were basically asking him about Ena and the Ofunehiki.
Silla and Akaria walks back from school as Akaria looks at his cousin in a curious expression.
Silla asks, "Is something the matter, Akaria?"
"I was wondering, how tall are you? I mean , your height."
She seems to be blushing at him, "About 1 59'."
Akaria groans, as he went down in embarrassment of the fact that she was an inch taller than him.
"Crap! You're going to be taller than me." He said, as Silla was scared of his reaction.
"I doubt that is ever going to happen, Akaria. I'm sure you'll grow a little bit ." She said, trying to reassure her cousin.
Akaria sighs, "I really don't know about that, Silla. I mean, when the Ofunehiki happen five years ago, I am still fourteen years old. "
Akaria notices an out of control driver and pushes his cousin to safety.
"Geez, what an idiotic driver. " He mumbles as Silla notices Aki on his bike.
"Aki!" She said , running towards the classmate with a curious state.
"Silla? What's up?" He asks her as she pants with sweat.
"Did you finally ask Himai out? If you did, that was kind of hard to do."
"I did, but it didn't work out as it planned. Listen, I knew that this would be weird of having Akaria here.
He's your cousin and I knew that you have some doubt about things. Just take it slow, that's my advice."
Silla didn't know what to say as Akaria walks towards her with a sly grin, "Is that boy in our class, Silla?
Don't worry, I wouldn't tell your dad about him."
Silla turns around, "What you saying, Akaria? "
"Just tell me something... who likes who?"
Silla got mad as Akaria runs , "It's not like that, Akaria! You don't know anything since we just met."
Akaria rolls his eyes as they reached the house, "Sure, whatever you say, cuz."
When they opened the door, Chisaki and Tsumgu was waiting for them.
"Hi, Akaria." Chisaki said as both teens looks surprised of their appearance.
Chisaki looks at Akari as they sat on the table.
"Oh, Akaria, I heard that you started school again." Tsumgu said, breaking the arkward silence. Akaria said, rubbing his head, "Yeah, I just don't want to fall behind in my studies and since I'm out of hibernation, it would take my mind off of things for a bit."
Chisaki said, "It's hard to believe you're back . It kind of reminds me when Hikari and the others first re-reached the surface.
To be totally honest, I wasn't that sure of seeing Hikari first since when he arrived out of hibernation like you did."
Himai asks, "Really, you were that nervous of seeing Hikari after being separated for so long? It must've been harder on you to say the least."
Hikari said, "I never knew that. You could've told me that after I was awoken up from Hibernation in the first place. I'm sorry for not noticing it earlier."
Chisaki shook her head, reassuring him, "No, it's my fault of not telling you back then, but I kind of relieved that you came back.
And I think Uma and Shelby would be back soon, Akaria. Just give it a little time."
Hikari nods at that statement, "Yeah, I just know they would be back safe and sound, and you can introduce Silla ."
Akaria said, "I don't know how Uma would react to find out that I'm basically an cousin to Silla. I don't want to make him in total surprise about it."
"It's going to be all right, Akaria." Akari reassures her younger brother.
Silla and Akaria shared the room as she was lost in her thoughts.
"Silla, you still awake?" Akaria asks as she sighs, "You can't sleep either, huh?"
"I'm still can't believe that Manaka actually is your mother. Who would've thought that Hikari would actually have the guts to ask her to marry him?"
The next morning was something that no one would ever suspect.
"Uh, excuse me? Can you tell me what day it is?"
